Cate's Diary

Included in the customers for the evening is the DH captain. It won't be happening again.
Since I can´t remember what DH stands for I´m going to assume it´s Darn Horrible :p
I just booked a deluxe room in a hotel 3.5km from the airport for $9 less than the grotty one, with a free 24-hour shuttle service
Ooo, fancy! No reason to avoid a bit of luxury, especially if it doesn´t break the bank.

Glad you got your husband not to volunteer you for things. I like your gratitude list and surprise for your hubby on the Greece vacation! Hope the rest of your weekend is wonderful!!

Hi, LaMa. The DH (dickhead) captain was fine. He came behind the bar a few times & got in the way, but at least he tried to help. He realised he was out of his depth & escaped. He also disappeared around midnight without telling us & left us to get everyone out, after having told us a little earlier that they hadn't got a licence extension past midnight. His mate whose birthday it was had told everyone the party would go until 1. Getting them out was extremely difficult. No-one was aggressive though, but it was very hard. There would have been over a hundred people there.. We got home at 1.45 am. I was so exhausted & sore that I was still awake at 3. It was SO busy. We ran out of so much stuff & would have made a lot of money for the club. G knows it is a never again thing. He agreed with me. I told him it doesn't matter who asks.I said he could volunteer himself, but I wouldn't be going with him & he said he wouldn't do that. Good.

Hi, Marsia. I think it's good to have a gratitude list as I think we can all get bogged down with life's problems but you can change your attitude. I am as guilty as anyone of that.
I am aching from head to toe & my feet are still throbbing.
Today I am grateful that I will never do the bar for a function at night again.
I am in my Pj's & dressing-gown & I not going anywhere today. I decided against a fast today as I thought my body needed fuel.
Edit: I just declared today a "Stay in your PJ's all day" day :D

I am currently in my pj's reading about your hectic night and eating blue cheese. I'm glad your hubby learned his lesson. That sounds like the total opposite of fun. I hope you get a nice hot shower or bath in and get to pamper your tootsies!!

I would love a "stay in your PJ's all day" day! We just got back from my kid performing in her kitsune mask for a pre-Halloween concert and then we went out with her best friend's family for dessert after the show. Now I get to clean the completely trashed house and make food for company tomorrow, but I feel like being the biggest couch potato in couch potato history! Anyway, hope you have a relaxing PJ day!

Ah, sensible decisions... I like those! Sometimes you need a bad night to make decisions stick.

I did get dressed just before midday Marsia, just in case someone called in. I have been a couch potato all day though!
It wasn't really a bad night LaMa, but it was bloody hard work & won't be repeated.
I am stuffed today. I'll soak my feet tonight as they are still throbbing!

I say a long night of un-asked-for hard work that leaves your feet throbbing the next day is bad, but we don´t have to agree on everything :p

You're right of course. It was bad for my body, that's for sure. We did this for 18 years & I really felt like we I had been flung back in time at the end of the night, but with an older body. It has been almost 15 years since we sold our business. Someone asked last night if we missed it. What a joke! One of the women who I really like asked me a few times to dance. People just don't get it. If G had left me behind the bar last night working my backside off to go dance I would have been really upset & probably angry. We really were flat out from 7.30 to 1.00 & then we had to pack up & lock up. We didn't have a minute's rest all night.
What I meant by a bad night really would be people fighting or being abusive or rude. They were friendly drunks. Quite a few of them work in a detention centre & are beefed up, so I wasn't sure how the night would pan out.

Cate all sounds like hell but you did it and never have to again .
Hope the feet feel better today. I get sore feet too . They were terribly sore Friday as I shopped in work shoes . Not a good plan .
I assume you must have worked in the hopitality business before. Funny I used to think I would have loved that but maybe not .
I never really have a pj day as I worry someone might call but I live in my tracksuit around the house

Humans really are bad at putting themselves in others' shoes. Glad they were friendly though, friendly drunks are quite enough to deal with.

Wow, 5.5 hours of non-stop exercise - just that aspect alone would be so tiring! Glad you made it though ok and that G learned his lesson! You should have told the woman who asked you to dance to stand in for you and G behind the bar while you danced the next dance!

Petal- I mostly worked in hospitality & liked it, but it's very hard work. I like doing the bar from time to time on golfing days & I feel I do it well, but I won't be doing any evenings again & I will choose when (probably just the vets days). I did get dressed just before 12, just in case someone dropped in :)
LaMa- Happy drunks can't imagine that you are not having as much fun as them :)
Jack- Hi & thanks for visiting me in my diary. I had a very lazy day yesterday & feel much better today. It's 9.30 am on Monday, here in Aus.
Marsia- Haha- she probably would have hopped straight behind the bar happily. She's very nice & a real worker. She works in hospitality & is one of those happy, outgoing positive people that make you feel good. G is also aching after his big weekend. Not only did he do the bar alongside me all Sat night, but he also played golf both days in the club championships. I don't think he'll be doing much today.

Decided not to fast again today as I woke up hungry. I'll have a careful day though. I had yoghurt & fruit for breakfast & will have soup & some crackers & cheese for lunch. We're having a savoury Venison mince dish for dinner. FD (500 cals) tomorrow & Fri or Sat this week.

Cate, I can't believe your son asked for money to go on holiday! The cheek!

Good for you for saying no to that and no to more evenings behind the bar. Must be the president coming out in you!!! :D

Thanks, LaMa :grouphug:
Thanks, Jen. I'm fasting today :)
Thanks, Petal. We both had a lovely, lazy day & have woken up rested & not sore anymore.
Thanks, Em. I know, I know. You made me laugh re the President thing :)

I feel so much better this morning, after such a lazy day yesterday & a good night's sleep. I'm off to do the bar today for the vets. It's an easy job. They don't exactly rush me off my feet on the weekly comp days. It's the big tournaments that I am kept very busy when players come from all over.

Hi Cate! Glad you are rested and happy again! Hope you had a good fast day! I did a lower calorie day (around 1000 calories, which is about as low as I usually go) and thought of you so I stayed with my limit for the day!!
