Thanks, LaMa. I'll check out that video in a couple of days when we are on our own again. I would so love to cook baked beans a la your Mum's recipe if you could ask her for it. That would feel so right!
Petal- I am so very lucky! Both of our sons are lovely men & our grandkids are gorgeous. Of course I'm not biased :D
R & his GF are about to arrive & they are picking up our 18-year old GS along the way. We are all having a dinner of Peppered Venison leg with lots of veggies- potatoes, sweet potato, beetroot, cauliflower/carrot au gratin, Bok choy, carrot(twice), & a Dakon radish/red radish/garlic/onion/mushroom/zucchini bake. We will be vegged up! Yum!

R & C aren't far off surfacing. We had a really pleasant evening with them. We all drove A home so C could check out the Wallabies. We saw about 20. She was amazed at how clearly you can see the stars here. They put on a spectacular display!
 
It is a special place to live, Petal. I'm very lucky! I am having such a lovely weekend. Nothing matters more to me than my family & we have had a lovely time :beating:
 
Had a lovely weekend & a very quiet day yesterday, after everyone went. R brought his galumphing dog with him, so it was bedlam. I love his dog, but he is full on. We missed them all when they were gone though.
I weighed this morning & nothing lost, but nothing gained either. Still with 9.5 kg to go :)
 
Thanks, LaMa & Petal. It was a very special time. I rang R today to tell him how much we missed them-him, his GF & his dog :D
 
I am so sorry that you are still struggling with your allergies! :( Was reading the discussion about your golf partner using perfume, but I believe that it is nothing personal and she is just forgetting/not thinking about that the perfume is bothering you that much (I understand she is not a friend, just acquaintance). You know people are just not paying attention that much to others and maybe she is just having a habit each time going out of the home sprinkle a bit on herself and once she meets you, she remembers that you had allergy and she shouldn't have used the perfume. I'm not defending her, but I just think that people mostly are so occupied with their own lives that sometimes (mostly) it just skips people mind about other people struggles... Was it possible to understand what I mean? :) I think the more you will remind people about your alergy, the more it will stay in their minds :)
Really hoping that people around you will learn soon enough and you will be able to have perfume free golf day ;);)

What about cottage cheese with added herbs (dill, basil, etc)? No starchy carbs and you will get the protein intake as well ;) Although now you have winter, but one of my summer favorites for breakfast is Caprese salad (Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Basil and Balsamico/oil mix) - fresh, light, basically perfect way to start a healthy day :)
As you were discussing, I'm not a fan of sweet breakfast either. I don't know if you use/like protein mix, but I find pancake protein mix (neutral taste) a life saver when I have nothing to eat at home :) Instead of adding something sweet, I usually add cream cheese or plain cheese and voila! Protein rich and not sweet breakfast is ready ;);)
 
By the way Cate, I'm really happy that R found a girlfriend. I know that you really wanted him to meet someone nice. Do you like her?

I worked in an office where a girl would open her office door beside my desk and it was like The Perfume Shop in there, I'm talking fumes coming out. I'm not overly-sensitive to chemicals but that just wasn't pleasant. I don't think she would have taken it well at all if I had asked her not to wear it. So the fact that your friends are considerate enough to listen and not make a massive deal out of it like you're encroaching on their personal freedom is really cool. Just my two cents.

Re: Perfume- Most people are considerate after they see the result of exposure. I don't think anyone is deliberately making me sick. I'm a bit despondent about it all at the moment as I had another bad reaction on Monday & am still suffering. Facing wearing a mask whenever I go anywhere is absolutely daunting. I either get weird stares or people look away quickly.
Re: breakfasts without toast- I have been having all sorts of weird & wonderful combinations, but think I'll go back to mostly having yoghurt & fruit, with a bit of almond meal. I'll weigh tomorrow & if I have not lost anything I will go back to having a small amount of toast for breakfast again, maybe every second or third day. I only eat an organic oat sourdough, which is delicious. I don't eat wheat-based products at all.
Re: R's GF. She is absolutely lovely & I really, really hope it works out for them. I am very comfortable with her & she feels right for him & vice versa.

G has hurt his back splitting wood. He thinks he has put his pelvis out as he did that a couple of times when we were running a pub. Twisting & lifting do not go together. I woke this morning very anxious about how easily our lives could change. I don't want to move from here but I should do some more sorting out & de-cluttering. If we had to move it would be mind-boggling & I regularly de-clutter.
I am going to stay focused on getting my weight back down & I'm sure that I need to exercise more in Winter to stave off the Winter blues. I didn't go to golf yesterday& I should have. I know that I have not adjusted to being so sensitive to perfume & it will take a while. I have tried not "making a big deal out of it" & it has made me very sick. If I heard anyone say that I was encroaching on their personal freedom to wear perfume they would get one very big earful & a disability discrimination pamphlet. So far I have managed to stay calm & polite.
 
Calm and polite is something I struggle with in some situations, I am also sensitive to perfumes and some other things, not as sensitive as you are but some people are just pigs when it come to having consideration for others.

I went with G into town & shopped with a mask on. It was OK. It feels better when I'm with him as then at least people recognise me. Plus I can go outside & breathe fresh air while he waits in the checkout. I was just really itchy afterwards. This isn't going to go away so I just have to get used to it.
 
Aw Cate that’s a shame but you are dealing with it well . If you were living in a big city no one would even notice . Hope your husbands back is ok too . It’s always a worry.
It’s easy to get despondent about things isn’t it . And to go on a slump . Try look at the positives of everything which it sounds like you generally do .
 
Thanks, Petal. I really feel up & down about the whole thing. I worry too much about people's perceptions, & I know you're right. I wouldn't get a second glance in a city. I managed well today & feel more positive tonight.
