Cate's Diary

You can. It´s not the most fun thing to do but not doing it just makes it harder in the long run. I´d say use your own shampoo next time and just skip the conditioner to make sure which is to blame.

Glad to hear the visit to the allergist went so well, plus a good haircut and a fun meal.
Sorry the scale gave you some bad news. Glad you are taking action! Sounds like you are dreading being more regimented. I always do but then I find I actually can enjoy eating less and moving more - and posting about it here!

Thanks, LaMa.That would have been a good idea but I had used G's shampoo yesterday morning already. I use conditioner for my scalp as it gets dry & also I had been told that airborne particles get absorbed into your hair less if you do, but that doesn't make much sense to me. I would have thought things would stick to it more. Anyway, I'm much less itchy today, so I'll continue the experiment... I would like to give up my shampoo & conditioner as it would then be 2 fewer products I buy.

Thanks, aloe. Monday was a very successful day & made me feel much more positive. I needed that courage to get on the scales. I always feel better when I am eating cleanly & well, but I slip back into bad habits easily if I am not diligent. I know this & I know how easily I can put weight back on if I am not being careful. That will always be the case. I think I will make a new rule & say I have to weigh myself twice a week for the rest of my life. Tuesday & Friday would be good days, as we don't go away on those days.
Cate, I also have to face the scales. I am dreading it but I need to get back into gear.
Let's get into gear Em. We can do this!

I'm going to formulate a plan in the next few days, but weighing myself at least 2 days a week is the main part of it.

Had a very clean eating day yesterday. I'm not going to count calories unless I stall. There are so many security issues with apps lately & MFP has had problems so I'll go old school for now.
Down 1kg, 10 to go.
I'm off to the doctor today to get a flu jab & to discuss my health care plan.

You are off to a great start. Sounds like a good plan. I was reading someone else's diary and they also were just eating smart and not counting calories. I weigh myself every day with the intention to eat lighter every time I'm up more than 2 pounds (or 1 kilo!). But somehow it eventually creeps up to 5 pounds in spite of a few tries of eating better without counting calories. Then I have to get serious and count them!

I think getting on the scales regularly is the key for me, so I'll make myself do it. Also, I am just not going to snack. The odd piece of fresh fruit between meals will be the exception. I am not going to buy ice-cream. If I really fancy sweets a little natural yoghurt with fruit will be the go. It feels good to be back on track. I actually feel really fat & unfit & my clothes are tight. I do not like that feeling!

I weighed again this morning. I think I'll make the Mon & Fri weigh-ins the minimum. 10 kg to go.
I have a very busy weekend coming up. We're going down to see R today, going out for an early dinner tonight with him & a GF, staying the night in the hotel he works at(with my air purifier this time), breakfast at the farmers' market tomorrow, picking up his Toyota RAV4 & then driving both cars back home tomorrow. Then tomorrow night we are going to dinner at G's brother's place for his 60th. Lots and lots of driving.

Thanks, LaMa. Yesterday was nice. We went out for a Thai meal with C, R's GF. She is absolutely lovely. I hope it works out for them. We will be meeting up again soon at the farmers' market to have brunch & do some shopping & then we'll head home in a convoy at about 12.30, to give us a little time, before we have to head out again for dinner.
Ate very healthy yesterday.

Eating healthy while on the road? Well done! Did you watch Eurovision? (I didn´t, but my sister messaged me in the middle of the night so I had to google the winning song this morning. Much amused. Reminds me of "tight pants, body rolls", somehow.)

Thanks, LaMa. I did do well. R cooked a stir-fried lunch for us on Sat & that is always delicious & very healthy when he makes it. Dinner was Thai & then yesterday G & I had an apple & half a banana for breakfast in our room & then a very light Persian wrap-
"This Mothers Day – why not come and try a delicious Persian brunch at the Farm Gate Market? MRC Tas will be supporting an Afghani family to sell an Iranian speciality - Kuku in a sandwich made with Afghani bread. Come and support this Afghani family as they try out their new food business!
Kuku is a herb omelette made from a famous Persian herb blend containing coriander, parsley, leek and spring onion. Our stall will be using locally grown greens and fresh local eggs to make this delicious herb omelette, which will be served with salad and yoghurt sauce, rolled in handmade Afghani flatbread." It was very light & very delicious!
We had a bit of a car saga & couldn't get R's car going, but after ringing roadside assist & having a new battery fitted, some fuses replaced, a bit of oil added we got on our way eventually. We got home in time to unpack our bags, put our market shopping holus-bolus into the fridge, get the fire re-lit, feed & pat the dog, change & were out the door in 30 minutes. We had a nice dinner with G's immediate family(his 2 sisters, brother & BIL & SIL). We had some antipasto, roast chicken & duck with lots of vegetables, followed by a lemon delicious & pavlova. G's brother forgot that he asked his sister to make lemon delicious so there were 2 desserts. I had a little of each. I'm glad I ate so sparingly during the day!
I just realised it's Monday & I didn't weigh. I will tomorrow.

Hi, Petal. Thanks for visiting my diary :)
Whenever you feel like eating some junk you could always come & read some of my diary. That's a challenge :D
