Cate's Diary

Hi Sam- It's too late for the dependency thing I think! I wonderful it will be when your pool is finished. Lucky girl! Cheers, cate
C&P
Woke up with a head-ache & a sore throat. My LH coughed & spluttered his way through the night as well so didn’t get a great night’s sleep. I turned the alarm off & re-set it for him & we both went back to sleep for an hour. Poor thing. He’s gone off to work not feeling very good at all.
Already I feel much better. It’s also a beautiful day so would have been a good view from the top of Mother Cumming’s Peak. Oh well. It didn’t seem worth the risk holding up everyone else if I was sick.
I just a call from my SIL asking me to do a 2hr shift tomorrow, picking up an elderly woman & taking her to the doctor. That will be a nice change. It will be something I do for pleasure rather than the money, being only for 2 hours, but that’s ok & I am looking forward to it. It’s not far to travel either. I hope some more clients like this become available for me.
I didn’t weigh first thing today so will tomorrow.
I have my lunch ready of course so will have that, minus the scroggin.

Back into the 70’s- YAY!!
Only 4.5kgs to go to get back to my lowest!
This was a great start to my day. I was so excited about going to a new client as well. It felt all positive!
And it was!
She is a delightful lady & I had a ball. This is what the job is meant to be about! Hopefully I can build it up a little & gain another client or two as she’s only once a month.
I have eaten Cohen’s 100% today & feel a million dollars again.
Last night I went out to my husband’s 8-ball comp & an opposition player came up to me & thanked me. I had met up with him & his wife at a 50th birthday party about 6 months ago & they were amazed at my transformation & so taken with my enthusiasm for Cohen’s that she joined up soon after & has lost 37kgs & looks & feels wonderful. He told me how lucky they felt to have caught up with me then. He said she has found confidence in herself & is very happy. He jokingly complained about the cost of all her new clothing but said he was really proud of her & admitted he didn’t think she could do it. It made me feel so good I can’t really articulate just how chuffed I was. Wow!
I have not felt so proud of myself the last 2 months & I am now making sure that I always have reason to be proud. I feel so good slim & so proud of myself for getting there that I never want to go back. This latest ’hiccup’ is a valuable lesson learned.
Just by eating Cohen’s approved foods the weight will stay off. It’s coming off nicely now. When I lose the next 4.5kgs I will stick to the maintenance guidelines. Until then & only then I am not eating any desserts or eating unnecessary Carb’s. I love my Saladas. I am never without them. If I’m out & people are eating pizza or similar I munch on my Saladas & actually don’t feel like I’m missing out.
I had better go have a look about. I’m looking forward to being back at the ‘I finished re-feed & am maintaining my goal weight to within 3kgs’ stage. I don’t feel that I can be any sort of authority or give advice until I my weight is stable again. I can detail the pitfalls!
Cheers, Cate

Well done Cate,

You should be proud of yourself!!!!

The weight loss is great and only 4.5 kgs to go, you'll be there in no time at all. Good on you for catching the weight gain so quickly and managing to get it under control again so well. I wish that i had taken a leaf from your book when I began to gain weight. Anyway it is all a learning curve and hopefully we all learn something from it. We are not invincible (even if we are Cohens graduates), and we are the unlucky ones who will always have to be very aware of what we eat.
I hope you manage to find some new clients. There are so many lovely people out there it is a shame to waste your time on people who don't appreciate the effort you put into helping them. Maybe your new client might put in a good word for you with some of her friends or acquaintences, who knows!!
Anyway, take care and keep up the great work.

Beck

:Hi Beck & thank you. We are only human & I'm sure we will be learning until the day we die. I don't feel a 'woe is me' thing thank goodness & neither do you by the sound of it. If we have to watch what we eat for the rest of our lives so be it. It could be much worse.
I hope you're right about my client yesterday. My son rang this morning & told me that my DIL saw me in town yesterday with my new client & I looked so happy. I came home in such a good mood. I'm ringing my employer today to ask for them to please send me more clients like her if at all possible. Apparently my other client is more the exception than the rule.
I'm about to enrol on-line in a Tribal belly dancing class so had better go do it. My DIL is going to do it too so that will be fun. I can't imagine going to belly dancing classes with my MIL! LOL!!:rotflmao
Breakfast today natural yoghurt, psyllium husks & stewed apple, followed by 1 plunger coffee(not the whole pot!)
Cheers for now folks, Cate

I got a call yesterday & I am taking this new client to her next ap't. Great!
I don't know if the forum is playing up or it's my computer. It's very weird!
I think I'll just quickly paste my post & get the heck out of here!
I’m having a lovely day today with my LH. He has the next 3 days off. He’s feeling much better thank goodness & hardly coughed at all last night so we both got a really good night’s sleep. I love not having to set the alarm.
My weight has snuck up again today & I think it’s because I am almost constantly constipated. 3 Coloxyl at night & 2 in the morning still doesn’t work properly so I’m going to buy some Colon Cleanser, which always does the trick. It’s harsh but my system needs harsh.
My LH’s horse is racing in Hobart on Sunday so we are going down Sat. afternoon & staying with our YS. He sounded quite excited about us coming down & insisted we stay with him & go out to dinner with a couple of his friends. We are booked into a wonderful Italian restaurant in Hobart. I don’t think I have ever tasted better food than theirs. We either had to take a 6pm booking or a 9.30 so had to go with the later one as we will not be able to get to Hobart until about 5.30-6 as my LH just has to play golf first!
I started my day with beef soup & we had some rissoles & stir-fried vegies for lunch plus some fresh broccoli from our garden. I have also had 2 crackers & 2 fruit.
Dinner will be similar as we’re eating up what we have in the fridge.
I think I should go back 100% still so that I can get down quickly to my real goal weight. While the last 2 weeks have been enjoyable & I have lost a few kilos I want it to be quicker. I like the sound of Kannadew’s ‘lean’ look that she is going for. I look & feel slim again but lean sound good. Lean gives you lee-way as well!
I read the forum (Sam’s diary) very briefly this morning & see we have what I would call a ‘celeb’ newbie. I have been reading a diary in the ‘other’ forum for quite some time that I really enjoy by Shell who is on maintenance. It has been good for me to read about the experience of others on maintenance & to know that I am not alone with the ups & downs. It is very scary being ’out there’ without set boundaries & realising that you have to set your own & follow them.
Check out tonight’s ‘Today Tonight’ for a Cohen’s graduate ‘Faithy’ who lost 90kgs in a year. I hate the show but will watch it tonight. The other night on Win News Tasmania a woman was on who had lost 102kgs in 7 months. They interviewed Lisa from Cohen’s in Hobart but I didn’t hear Cohen’s mentioned which was a big shame. It was exciting though.
Cheers, Cate

Hi Cate

Thanks for the info I will tune in tonight and watch....I remember Faithy when I was doing Cohens. And who exactly is ShellT is she from the other forum?
And yes this forum has gone bonkers again...they must be updating the web or something. I am also going to do the Colon cleanse this weekend, hoping for a lighter weighin on Monday.
Enjoy your weekend.
Sam:)

Faithy on Today Tonight

This forum is dreadful today so I will be very brief. Just saw Faithy on TT (dreadful show) but just had to say she looked sensational. It was excellent coverage for Cohen's even with the tosser doctor thrown in as a counter-argument supposedly. The proof is in the pudding (or lack of it). I know I feel really lucky that I found Cohen's & it's wonderful being able to see people's lives transformed. She should be very proud of herself. 90kgs-that's serious commitment! Cheers, Cate

The forum. OMG!!

Someone tell me please if their screen is easily readable. Mine is insane! I have funny little squares everywhere & the screen is huge. I can't do this.
I had a great week-end. We went to Hobart & stayed with our YS, went out & partied, had a nice Italian dinner, danced. My LH's horse came 5th(it happens). I worked today (2&1/2 times). It was very boring but well paid. It is not positive at all. Shame.
I will come back tomorrow & attempt to read all the threads. It's almost un-readable, cheers, Cate.

Finally I can reply. I wasn't able to reply for the last little while, but it now seems that I can. Yes, the forum is absolutley crazy at the moment. The posts are showing as being on 2 or 3 lines and I have to scroll about 2 miles to the right to be able to read them.
Its great that you worked today, but not so good that it wasn't enjoyable. at least it was well paid. Thats always a good thing!!
Take Care

Beck

Hello Everyone,

It seems everybody is doing well and of course being supportive. I really appreciated how much this forum helped me through cohen's last year and I am trying so hard to keep checking in, as I miss being in here.

Cate, Good job on the weight loss! You are making good choices and they are paying off. You are a good role model, we have all needed to make adjustments in our food choices at sometime, it's a natural progression Plus, you are so good about walking and I feel your excitement when you are planning a bush walk... I hope you do get to post a picture. I always think of a saying you used to use, "nothing tastes as good as thin feels". :iagree:

Take Care

Hi Beck & Lori, This forum is way too frustrating! I hope they fix it quick smart. I didn't go bush-walking this morning as I woke to pouring rain. I must admit I enjoyed rolling over & sleeping in. I had felt really tired last night & couldn't stay awake. Today I'm sneezing & snuffling so that explains it. My LH has had a bad cold for a fortnight & is now better. It was really cold in Hobart. The wind I think was coming straight from the Antarctic!
Hope all are happy & well. I'll get back into checking everyone's diaries when it's not so frustrating, cheers for now, Cate.

Yay!! The forum is fixed!
I have been planning my strategies for the next week, hoping to go back on the original plan tomorrow (Thursday) & stick to it. When reading other maintenance diaries(elsewhere) I see how much trouble others seem to have & it makes me nervous. My attempts so far have only succeeded in making me feel a failure. Just eating Cohen’s food but not weighing is not strict enough for me & cravings seem to kick in. Not good.
I plan on having 1 egg with mushroom & tomato for breakfast, 2 crackers & fruit mid-morning, chicken & veg soup for lunch, 2 crackers & fruit before dinner & chop suey for dinner with 2 crackers & fruit for supper. I have been drinking lots of water (at least 3 litres each day so that should not be a problem). I still only have 1 or 2 cups of coffee a day so won’t suffer from coffee withdrawals.
I am about to go cook quite a few soups. I made a large veggie stock yesterday in readiness & will go weigh out my chicken & vegetable allowances. I will make them meal 2 portions (105g poultry + 120g vegetables). Ok. I had better go do it, cheers, Cate.
The sun just came out for the first time in a few days. Nice. I might go for a walk this afternoon, after my cooking spree, xo C
The sun stayed out for 2 minutes so instead I vacuumed the house & made chicken soup x7!

Beck-Thank you sweetie for your words of confidence in me. I can do it! You are very supportive & I really appreciate it. I'm far from perfect & the scales were a wake-up this morning. I had decided this was it regardless & woke up singing & feeling very positive. I've been singing "When my baby goes to Rio" for some strange reason! Hopefully my brain will replace that with something else soon........xo Cate.
‘Wish me luck as you wave me good-bye’……well my excess weight that is. I’ll still be here. The new me, the one who became slim & loved it. I’m looking forward to feeling that way again. I don’t feel obese, as I’m not, but I’m not happy with myself because I let my weight creep up so I’m doing something about it. I know I’m fair dinkum this time. For the last month or so I’ve just been messing about with the program & I think it’s a program that shouldn’t be messed around with so…….
Day 1 of original program.
I weigh an extra 7.5kgs more than when I finished at ‘goal weight’ August last year. I am going to lose that 7.5kgs & then re-assess. Those of you who have followed my epic journey will know that I thought I had got to goal weight but my scales were inaccurate so I actually weighed 6kgs more than I thought I did.
When I lose this 7.5 I just may continue until I do get to my 'real' Cohen’s goal weight. This is why I am not doing a ticker this time around. It’s confusing enough for me without trying to confuse everyone else. I had been really happy with how I looked when I finished but it may be why I have trouble stabilising. My legs never got slim, but then they never have been, not even as a fit & active teenager.
Breakfast at 8.30am.
175g yoghurt with 1 stewed apple.
1 cup plunger coffee
11am-have drunk well over a litre of water. I am going to make sure I keep tabs this time round as I was inclined to drink too much water first time around!
I am not at all hungry. I do feel a little light-headed but that may just be my brain playing tricks with me.
Cheers, Cate.

Hi Cate

thanks for visiting my diary I will be back once I can prove to myself I can do it.
Well done on you getting back onto plan 100% you are most definitely right when you say you should not muck around with the original plan and I am also looking forward to that feeling of the clothes getting looser on me and my face thinning down and just that general feeling of wellness.
Bye for now.
Sam:)

Hi Sam. You'll do it. I'm sure you will. It's not easy when you find the freedom to eat off plan but then I learned my lesson. I now know what happens. 7.5kg in about 6 weeks! Take care Sam, xo Cate
OMG! You forget how little it is that you eat on the original program. To be honest I’m not physically hungry. I just am missing eating! Sad to say I know. I never said I was perfect!
I had my chicken & vegetable soup at 1.30 with 2 Saladas. I watered it down too much with veggie stock so it wasn’t mentally substantial. I had forgotten about how I felt about that sort of thing. Next time I will use less liquid! I have weighed out my mince for the chop suey tonight. He he! It looks pathetic!
I am feeling light-headed but that could be because my brain is swimming. I have drunk 2 &1/2 litres already. Whoops. I had better have peppermint tea for the rest of today.
I’ll post this later as I will be back to fill in time to take my mind off the urge to stuff my face. I used to always do this to get me through 5 hours until my next meal. Good old Telstra keeps booting me off after about 30 minutes. I have agreed to wireless broadband with Telstra but am fast cooling off (have 10 days to decide) staying with Telstra. I have not got the package yet with my modem etc. It’s very hard to be loyal to them. Most people I know recommend satellite broadband & we are entitled to the government subsidy apparently. There are so many options. I might go ring a friend & see how her connection is.
I did so & had a good yak.
Late afternoon I had a kiwi fruit & crackers.
Dinner was chop suey.
Supper a stewed apple & crackers. I’m not hungry but decided to eat everything as I thought it might help with tomorrow. I have worn a track through to the loo!
Cheers, cate.

Hi Cate,
I had telstra wireless broadband and I am about to pay out the disconnection fee of $300 and have gone with ADSL2 with IINET which just plugs in to your phone line, is half the price and I can use more than one computer with the connection. I found the wireless useless and Telstra not much better. They are sending the bill to the wrong address and double charging me and even after numerous phone calls I get no help from them. Its like once you are signed up they lose interest in any customer service.
You do forget just how little you get to eat, but very quickly adjust to it. Remember its only a couple of days that its really bad. I usually check in and chat on here to take my mind off eating too. I agree you don't get hungry but it is just the habit of constantly eating (in my case) that is really hard to break.
Great that you are nearly through the first day. Go to bed early and when you get up your one day closer to the end.
Take care

Beck

CATE!! WOOOHOOO! 100% Thats just great news! I am so glad you are back on ... with ME!!! I just read your post and then saw your post in my diary ... all within a few minutes!! EXCELLENT!

I reckon your excess will just DROP Off quick eh! as you wouldve read in my diary my holiday excesses fell off really quick... I have just NOW started to go back to the usual slower pace and plateaus... So for you... Recent gains and all it should come off super quick. I lost 5.6kgs in less than 2weeks!!! This is way more than what I normally lose in a month! Who knows.... you may be able to do a month or 6 weeks and get to your ORIGINAL goal and then do refeed.

I too had played with the idea of just doing it through the week.... but decided that Refeed really is the most important part and I wanted to make sure I stabilised properly at the end... so... its all the way to the end... refeed included! I bet you will be finished before me eh!! I have about 7-9kgs to go... but you usually lose quicker than me.... but how exciting Cate! You will feel so much better! I know I do....

I am fitting into all my wonderful clothes that I bought and I am just feeling BETTER all round. Anyway.... goodluck over the next few days!! I look forward to seeing those numbers just DROP!

Blessya
Kannadew

Hi Kannadew, Would you believe I feel better already? After only one day. 2kg down. I know it's fluid but Woo Hoo I feel so much better that I am back on track 100%. It's as much a mental thing, ie I'm in control of my body again. I hated that out of control..."I'm getting fat again' feeling! I hope to keep going when I get to my 'original' goal weight & get to my 'for real' goal weight. I'll decide when I get there. That LH of mine has not tuned in to the fact that I am really doing the program 100%. Itlooks like I'll have to cook everything myself again. Oh well, that's what most people do. Cheers for now, Cate.
Lost 2kgs, lost 2 kgs, la la la!!!
Now I know I'm back on track. Went to bed ravenous last night but that's because I had a late night. I don't know if I can go to bed early. My brain is programmed for late nights after running a pub for 18 years.
Breakfast 175 Farmers Union yoghurt with 1 stewed apple.
Lunch will be chicken soup.
Dinner is a mystery. I might buy some prawns.
I had better get on the move as I have to go shopping.I have cancelled the Telstra Wireless thingy & it has arrived at the local PO so I will return it. Need some library books to while my free time away so I'm not thinking about food. Need to shop to have more vegie choices & fruit. The key has always been to be prepared & nothing has changed. I was going to make a lot of chop sueys yesterday but the mince we have (half a beasts worth of beef!) is fatty. I'm not happy about that at all. My LH is going to have to eat a lot of mince over winter. It won't worry him. He'll whip it up into lasagne, rissoles etc.
ok This is not getting me out the door. I always have 2 crackers with me but want to be out of the supermarket before the hunger pangs kick in. I'll have my crackers before I walk in the door. I have continued to do this even since I finished the original program. It's a good tip.
Cheers for now, Cate

I have had a really good 100% Cohen’s day. I have stocked up on Cohen’s food, got a collection of library books including one I had ordered (a Kerry Greenwood book in the Corinne Chapman series) & visited one of my favourite local shop-keepers who is also doing Cohen’s. She is delightful. I took more ‘fat clothes’ to the Salvos, went for a bit of a walk but found it made me feel a little light-headed. I received a weird letter from my employer ticking me off for not providing my certificates & giving me a dead-line to provide them or I will be considered ‘untrained’. Funny that! I have not been asked to provide any & I don’t have any anyway. I must admit it made me laugh. In a separate envelope was a case plan & instructions on how we are to do our job with the client I have been working with since last Dec. Nothing applied to me this time which was a relief but it was also amusing. I must be getting better at removing myself a little. I didn’t take anything personally. Happy about that!
I have stuck to my tried & true favourites food-wise just to get myself back into the swing of things with the program. Chicken soup for lunch, chop suey for dinner. My chop suey was absolutely scrumptious, albeit miniscule. Tomorrow I will have a chicken breast stir-fry for lunch & maybe mini rissoles with a tomato sauce & spinach for dinner. I bought some really lean minced steak & more chicken breasts today. You eat so little on the program I think you should eat really good quality meat & veg & enjoy it! Once again my soup was too watered down. The next 5 won’t be so bad but I’ll leave them in the freezer for now.
I need some help please as I bought some tofu today & have never cooked it. Also it is not on my day’s menu choices. I must have said at the start that I never eat it. I doubt if the clinic will provide me with a choice now that I am not paying them any money. If some-one has tofu as an option would you mind pm’ing me a meal 2 & a meal 3 portion + the veg. allowance that goes with it. Even if your program was slightly different to mine it shouldn’t be too different & I won’t have it very often. I just want to give Tofu a bash!
Internet-
I returned the Telstra stuff to sender, after ringing them & cancelling.
I have rung around today & have settled on activ8me I think. A satellite connection with 2MB downloads & pretty fast connection speed & streamed so that I don't have extra charges. I rang them; found a very helpful consultant who explained it to me in detail & answered all of my questions (plus some) She also said to ring the Dep't of Communications to get a broadband guarantee form so that we have then get it without any installation fees (because cable broadband is N/A in our area). I have since searched & found the form which I completed last year but did not go on with it. I really didn't think I would find it. Good one! It will save me a lot of time & hassle. This plan was recommended by the guy I got a quote for a new computer from. I would still like to get a new desk-top computer but I must weigh up the cost. I would like a router & an Ethernet card though for my laptop so I'm not tied to a cord! I'm learning a lot about computers at the moment. I also got Excel for Dummies from the library as it's the one I have on my computer. I have to get & feel proficient in Excel in the next week as it's essential for an office position I am about to apply for. It's where my LH works & is a relief position. I have to have the application in within 2 weeks. I don’t know if I can do the job but I’m sure I can learn!
I need to make a call to our OS so will copy & paste & come back later as my LH is watching the footy (AFL) & I would rather be in here. Cheers, cate
