Cate's Diary

Good news-I got off my derriere yesterday & rode my bike. The 1st 2.5km I found really tiring so stopped. Half an hour later I got back on & did 10.5 & really felt good afterwards. I feel like I'm now back on track. I just needed to make a start! I also did lots of housework.
Bad news- I got on the scales this morning & I gained 1.5kg over Christmas/New Year, so have a minimum of 6.5kg to lose.

I don't seem to have the energy to type in diaries today but have read most xo Cate

Exercise-did the same again today! I am feeling so energetic again. The more I exercise the more I want to exercise & the better I feel. I have also eaten very healthily & well within my calories for the day. :D

So much happened here since I last came round I don´t know where to start. I´ll just leave a bag full of hugs; some for joy, some for encouragement, congratulations and awe.

Yay, I love riding my bike!!! Had pretty crappy weather here in QLD for the last few weeks though, I don't remember ever having so many thunderstorms in such a short period of time!

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. It's such a tragic thing that someone feels like there's no other option or anywhere else to turn, it's something that absolutely sticks with you. So devastating. Sometimes there is just nothing that will get through to someone though, and as much as I think 'what ifs' in my situation when looking back I wonder if anything would have helped.

Back to more positive things, well done on the good food day! Argh, I'm going to be good tomorrow. I was a bit naughty today. Oops.

Yay for energy!! A body in motion wants to stay in motion, right?? Keep it up, 2015 is off to a great start!

Thank you LaMa (thank you sweets for repping me-that was a lovely comment), Lucy, Oaks & Q! There seems to have been a weird attack on the forum. I don't know where some people get their kicks. Very strange.....
5 days of very "clean" eating & being back into exercising has me feeling pretty good. When I see a drop on the scales I'll be even better :D Won't be home much today but will get some walking in & maybe more bike when I get home.
Love to you all xo Cate

Have had a really good start to my New Year really. I have kept within my calorie allowance, all but one day (I only just went over once) & have been exercising regularly for 4 days in a row & feel it's now back to being a part of my daily life. I played 18 holes of golf in the heat yesterday & got a really good work-out (read "didn't play very well"). Golf is a sport where the worse you play, the more exercise you get! I loved it though & also coped well with the women. I even played with the one who upset me in December. She was a little tentative with me at first, but we got along fine. I'm not going to put up with any crap this year & I want to play more golf, so playing on Wednesdays with the women is the best option & then trying to play on as many Saturdays, with the men as well.

I am trying to not eat starchy carbs for breakfast as per my maintenance guidelines from the program I followed, back in 2007, to lose 36kg. Yoghurt & fruit is not enough to fill me up though, especially the day after golf. I want to see a quick drop in my weight though, so will push through the hunger for now. My favourite breakfast is avocado on sourdough oat toast or mushrooms, zucchini, tomato & eggs on sourdough oat toast. I'm going to have the latter for lunch, with one slice of bacon(maybe). I hate roast pork, but quite like smoked bacon. I wouldn't say I love it though. I am soooo hungry. Time to drink more water!!!

I'm sure the small amount of weight gained over Christmas will come off pretty quickly, probably more water than anything else.

I totally missed what happened with the forum attack! Just saw everyone's diaries were rearranged.

Edit- You snuck in a post while I was writing! Haha!! Well done with all the exercise. Was just going to say if you want something quick like yogurt and fruit but it isn't enough, mix some protein powder into your yogurt. Way more filling! You're cooked brekkis sound pretty awesome though :drool5:

Whatever you do, don't go for the cheapest. It works the same, but my brother says it tastes horrendous. So unless you want to turn every protein smoothie into a calorie bomb by adding a bunch of milk, go for a slightly more expensive powder.

I'll remember that Cory. I'll be having some with my yoghurt & fruit so it will need to taste nice. I'll ask about.

I have Mystic, now I have to keep up the momentum!

Hiii to you, too, Han! Mwah!

Am feeling really good again this morning (touch wood) and just what< I think, is my favourite breakfast- 2 pieces of gluten-free toast, with a 99% fat-free mayo, (that tastes delicious) some home-made rhubarb chutney, 1/2 an avocado, some mung bean sprouts & ground, black pepper. I'm about to have 2 small espressos & then I'm set for the day! Having a trip in to visit Mum, do some chores etc & will get on my bike this arvo. (Aussie for afternoon)
PS Hi Caroline! We were typing at the same time. I love to start my day off well with a good breakfast!

Protein powders in yogurt- you'd be better off going with a whey isolate or concentrate (or casein if you want it to be really thick and pudding-y, it's also a slow release protein so keeps you going all day!) I'm not too familiar with brands at the moment though, I usually order protein from Iherb as we get pretty ripped off price-wise here in Aus! Also shipping is cheap and really fast. I use Plantfusion after my workout (which is a mix of a few vegetarian proteins) but whey proteins on there that get high ratings and I plan on trying soon are the Healthsmart brand and the new Quest proteins! Otherwise just ask at your local health food store, they probably have their own recommendations (our local ones usually have naturopaths working to help people out with that kind of thing!) Ooh, actually and are really good price-wise! Almost forgot!!!!

If you're looking for protein powder, I just started using Gold Standard whey. My cousin is big fitness junkie and he recommended it to me. I just got plain old vanilla, but from what I see, it comes in a very large variety of different flavors, so you can pick and choose. I ordered it from the online shop at bodybuilding.com, though I don't know if they ship to Australia or not (I hope this isn't considered "advertising" - I'm only saying where I got mine from). Anyway, I usually mix it in when I make smoothies and it tastes pretty good.

Your breakfast sounds... interesting. I can't say I know what rhubarb chutney or mung bean sprouts taste like, but I've had avocado spread on toast for breakfast before (with an over easy egg on top :p) and that has always been one my own favorites. You're doing really great so far!

Thanks Lucy & Kopia-I think I'll do some more homework. Perhaps adding almond meal might be simpler, in the meantime. I'll ask at my favourite health food shop in Launceston, next time I go there. I don't want to start drinking shakes.

Hi Jess!! :seeya::beating::grouphug:, right back at you, sweetie xoxo Cate

I´m not very big on processed food so I´m on the side of almond meal ;) Or simply low-fat curd if it´s any good on the big red island: plenty of protein and not a lot of cals here in Austria.
