Cate's Diary

I'm on bupropion right now. Don't really notice it doing much, but what few side effects I've had are all good ones.

I'd just as soon not be on any, but as long as I'm not having any problems with this one I'm going to stick with it.

My parents' dog is going blind and I'm not sure has more than a year or two left. It's very sad. I played golf on Saturday and didn't do great but did okay. That said, I probably have to rwork my golf swing. 375 pound people move differently than 225 pound people, and I think I need a 225 pound golf swing now.

Hi Cate! Sorry your dog isn't well. I have to say I was rather surprised to hear you deal with depression. You are always a ray of sunshine on here and you help buoy my spirits on a regular basis. I hope you have a fantastic day!

Hi Mr Vee, My sister was on that AD, along with others, & it seemed to suit her too. You'll just have to get out there & practise that golf swing more often. I am saying this to myself as well! Everything is different when you lose weight!! :)
It is sad when animals come to the end of their lives & you may need to make the decision to have them put down. I will though, if I need to. When we got her she was 2 & had been badly mistreated so she has had a wonderful life. I'm currently listening to her snoring on a cushion on the floor near me :)

Hi Queurcus, That is so sweet of you to say that. " A ray of sunshine"! You have put a big smile on my face for today. I will have a fantastic day!
Thank you both for visiting my diary & helping me start my day well! Cheers to you both & anyone else reading my diary xoxo Cate

Hey Cate, sorry I've been absent for awhile...now back from business trip. Glad you are playing golf again! Always good to get outside and move and breath some of that fresh Aussie air! I think you are right on track for finding ways to boost your serotonin and dopamine naturally...they are both manufactured in our gut (not our brain!) you might see if you can get some good pro-biotics. In addition to that, make sure you are getting enough animal protein. That's about the extent of my knowledge (and I got that all from a nutrition podcast, so I have no personal knowledge of the science to back it up!) I do trust the source though, and have found that when I have a balanced diet of healthy fats, protein and low carbs, I do feel good! Of course I do love my exercise and that boosts the dopamine and serotonin too! Here's too a great day and week to you Cate!
Xoxo

Hello Cate!

Sounds like you've given your dog a lovely life after a pretty horrible start (I can't understand why people mistreat animals....sigh). It's very sad though when they get old and you have to make the right decision. We were just beginning to discuss it re my dog years ago, when the day later he just curled up in his favourite spot and went to sleep and didn't wake up. I still miss him!

Probiotics are def worth taking. My gut has been pretty messed up but they have helped a great deal. If you don't like the yoghurt drinks (they don't fit with my diet plan), there are some good tablets out there in health stores. :)

Hi jjjay, She seems to be picking up a bit, but I really hope the old girl goes the same way your dog did. She is mostly just sleeping at the moment, but is also eating OK.
I will try some probiotics & can't wait until my A.D.'s are a distant memory. Already I am starting to feel brighter & more energetic! Never again! I've stretched it out to every second day already & will stay doing that until Tues week, when I go back to my doc.
Thanks for your visit jjjay, xoxo Cate

I have been getting spam pm's so have limited my notifications to mods & contacts only. Send me a friend request if anyone wishes to pm me. Cheers, Cate.

Great day today. Weighing in the morning & going back to exercise every day & eating <1600 cals per day & logging on MFP. Cheers xoxo Cate

Weighed in & started logging again on MFP. I don't look like I've gained & I really don't feel like I've gained, so it's weird really. My LH can't quite believe what's happening & neither can I. I weigh 85kg. Looking forward to seeing my doc again in a week, but will TRY to shake things up a bit, if I can.

It is bucketing down with rain today & is cold again. I'm in my exercise gear & will get on my bike, maybe do some weights & some dancing around in between. I saw a youtube video that gave me some good ideas to up the cardio in between doing my weights exercises & do them to music. It makes them more fun. I just need to get into a consistent routine.

So far, by cutting down my AD meds I am feeling lots better. Every second day when I take one I feel a little queasy, but even that is subsiding. I feel much more full of life & more like the me I like. I love my life and I want to experience it to the full & not be evened out so much. So far, so good. :)

Time to go look about on FB.
Cheers, xoxo Cate

Good to see you getting back into the exercise routine. My outlook on exercise is that at nothing else it's a good failsafe device: as long as I'm exercising I can only do so much damage with my calorie intake.

So sorry your dog is not well, my dog passed in 96 and I still keep her photo in my wallet. Give her lots of cuddles.

Good your back at golf, I've only ever played it once and was terrible lol

Hi Mr Vee. I had a good day yesterday with my exercise. It does make such a difference & allows you to eat a little more. Mainly I like it because it really lifts my mood.

Hi Suz, Our old dog is a little bit better again today, but is mainly still just eating & sleeping. I had to take her food to her bed today. I love golf, but I'm not very good at it. Like everything you have to practise, practise, practise. I brought my clubs home today to put a new umbrella holder on. I won't be going out tomorrow as it's terribly wet & also cold again!

Had a nice day today, but won't be home for long. Only exercise was walking around town. Under with my cals though.

Cheers for now, xo Cate

Went out last night to 8-ball & was just a little bit too sociable.....4 glasses of red wine put me over my cals for the day. :blush5:
Need to hop on my bike today & will also do my new weights-to-music/dance routine. I'll list them later. Just for fun I might do a video of it when I can do them without referring to my list.
Also need to stay under my cals!!
Consistency, Cate, consistency!!
xoxo

Hey Cate! Good to see you are on the good way with the AD's! Hooray! 8'm betting it will take a while for those to get out of your system. I agree that it's a good idea to get some probiotics in your gut...who knows what the AD's have done to the good bacteria in your gut (where the seratonin Is made).
I'm sorry to hear your dog is not well...always tough to lose a pet family member...
Good choices to you Cate, and so good to hear you are on the upturn!

Yeah the alcohol calories remain my stumbling block as well. Going to try vodka & diet coke in order to get as much "bang for my buck" as I can. :D

Hi Sarah & thanks for your cheery words! It does feel good to be getting myself off the AD's. I haven't bought any probiotics yet but will next time I go to Launceston (the "big" smoke!) Our poor old girl is hanging in there & gradually coming good I think. Just sleeping still, but also eating.

Hi Mr Vee- I try not to eat or drink rubbish so struggle with the thought of diet drinks. Every now & then in Summer I'll have one, but know I shouldn't. I do love my wine unfortunately, usually in moderation. I might have to come up with something with mineral water or soda water, maybe with a little fresh lemon. It sure won't be as nice as red wine though.

Didn't do any weights or bike yesterday but gardened instead.
Today we are cutting up wood. Usually that really tires us out!
Cheers all xoxo Cate

I cut down 92 little wattle trees all by myself, with my little handsaw! That's before wood cutting with my LH. KNACKERED!!!

& today my right hand is sooo sore, but I can see where I have been. Wattle trees here are like a weed & are encroaching on our home & our view. I LOVE gum trees & most trees but wattles are a menace. Perhaps hand- sawing 92 was a little excessive in one day. I will never learn moderation in some things.

Feeling good today mentally & still glad I attacked the wattles, even though I am hurting like crazy. Can still type!
xoxo Cate

I'm not sure what a wattle tree is but 92, that would definitely be a work out.

As for alcohol, I love white wine or baileys but don't drink that often.
A glass of red every day is supposed to be great for your health. The problem is only having one glass lol I always want a second glass.

Hi Suz, Wattle trees are Acacias & grow like weeds here! My right hand is still aching! I do love soft, red wine & usually have 2. I didn't know it was possible to only have 1! Ha ha. :blush5:
I'm about to head to pick my LH up from golf & go watch some 8-ball maybe. Our older son was playing in the State doubles titles but has been eliminated. We may not go in now, but I'll see what "the old boy" says when I pick him up.
I took my Mum up the street & for a walk along the riverbank & then spearmint tea & a lactose-free cake(her only) afterwards. It was nice. It's a beautiful, sunny, Spring day. :D Am feeling much more like my old "real" self as I reduce these meds. My sister & I got the giggles on the phone. Actually I guffawed! FUN! We're as nutty as one another.
Cheers to all xoxo Cate
