Cate's Diary

Hi Nikitahh, Thanks, I think ( "can't be bothered"- :smilielol5: ) I'm getting my old self back again & feel much better today thank you. I hope that you are feeling better yourself :) xo Cate

We had another lovely night with our OGS :beating: and he has now gone off to school. It's raining so our physical day, getting wood, looks like it has changed to an inside day. I'll do my bike & weights- that's if I remember how!!

Nothing much to say except that I feel fine and not down :)
Much love to you all, xo Cate.

It rained all day yesterday & my husband was home. We had a really lazy day I'm afraid but ate healthily. I am going to hop on my bike today & do some weights. I'll start off with only one set to ease myself back into the habit. I may go for a walk instead as I just realised our newspaper is down on the corner (1.5km away.) It's very hilly where we live so it's a good, hard walk- all uphill on the way home. I have the 3 grand-kids(GK's) staying the night so don't want to be too tired. I'm down 1kg thank goodness. I won't have any wine tonight. It's about time I really re-committed to this!
Bye for now, Cate.

Just got back from a 2km brisk, hilly walk & did 250 reps of my weights. :D Also have eaten a la Cohen's today and am not having any wine tonight.
Bye, Cate.

Hi Cate, you should write a book and get it published! I almost cried when I read about the baby. It sounds beautiful where you live. I don't want to sound, so dumb, but what is a echidna? I would love to see your photos of the wildlife. Love reading your message. You seem to be very active and a very happy person, despite being down at times, that is normal.. Well I have to get off here and look up echidna! lol

This post is done with the help of my 4yr old grand-daughter :Angel_anim:-LOL!

Last night we had our 3 grand-children stay for a "sleep-over" and they were very good children for their grand-parents :Angel_anim::Angel_anim::Angel_anim:
They did not argue with us when we said it was bed-time, there were no tears at all !! All 3 slept right through the night until 7.15am :sleeping::sleeping:
Wee Hoo !!!!!
Because they were such good kids they can stay again very soon.
I am a very lucky grandma!
My grand-daughter said that they are very lucky kids to have a sleep-over, like they wanted to. Nice!
Sending everyone lots of love from the 4 of us :beating:
xoxo Cate
For AnnaGail-
A Tasmanian Echidna-

Diary this time-
I have decided to keep a journal on my desktop of everything I eat & drink, my weight & the exercise I do every day for the next 3 months. I have started re-reading The Beck Diet Solution again(for the 5th time?), while I ride my stationary bike & am really going to try to be disciplined about it. For any newbies please know that I am not on Cohen's itself but Cohen's was my means to get to my goal weight 3 years ago & it will always be my guide. I aim to get back to my lowest weight of 3 years ago.
I will let you know how I go. It's great to be feeling positive about everything again. Boy, do you have to work at this thing called life!
Cheers, Cate

I didnt mean it like "i cant be bothered" haha i was just very sick and all i wanted to do was sleep :) i hope everythings going well.

I know lol! Was just teasing you :D
Today-
I feel like I am getting myself back on track. I have lost another .5kg and have been for a walk today & helped my LH get some wood. I ate yoghurt & stewed rhubarb for breakfast, had some crackers for a snack & just had fresh fish & salad for lunch.
My mood is better than it has been for a week or so.
I have made an appointment to see a new doctor in our local town. Lately I seem to have been a little short-tempered and out of breath and am wondering if there is something physically wrong with me. The hay-fever season is upon us here & my asthma has been bad. I also want to find a doctor that I like & can relate to before I ever really need one. I have been thinking about getting a referral to an allergy specialist and will discuss that too. Maybe not all tomorrow!
I need to do less typing online & instead spend more time outside I think so will head. My new iPhone has a great pedometer App & I am going to start using it daily & will start listing my steps. I'm looking forward to feeling fit again. I'll get there!
Bye for now, Cate

Sorry to hear that you've been feeling down Cate. I'm not surprised though with all the sadness that you have been through lately and probably tiredness from your trip didn't help the situation.
That's a great idea about keeping a list of the good things that happen in your life as it's so easy to dwell on the bad sometimes and there are so many little things in the day that make me happy.
I just looked out of my window from where I am sat and the sun has just broken through the clouds and has made the sea sparkle. I am so lucky to have that view anytime I want to look at it and it will definitely go on my list.

Hi Ecky, I am feeling ,much better thanks & you're right- I'm like a human barometer. When you're tired your defences are down. I haven't actually started writing in my diary of good things. It's funny because I have the book but want something really special to start it with. This week I have seen an Echidna twice, spotted a wedge-tailed eagle 3 times, have rescued a ladybird from the chainsaw, received a lovely email from my DIL, thanking me for producing such a wonderful son & for being such supportive P'sIL, had our 3 GK's for a lovely "sleep-over", had a lovely dinner party for my husband's birthday......
On that note I have some new little cards & today's reads-
"Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realise they were the big things."
My week has been full of good, little things :)
Thanks for your visit my friend. Another, lovely good thing, xoxo Cate

I have had a good day today, especially exercise-wise. I went for a walk this morning but after 20 mins it started to rain so I returned. I just rode my bike & then did 2 sets of weights, so 240 reps total. I feel so good after I have done them. I have been struggling not to worry about our OS & DIL and I must try really hard to not think about them too much as I cannot change whatever will happen & getting upset or worrying takes it's toll on me. By writing this I get a little anxious so won't mention it again.
My phone alarm just went off as it's time to go pick our YGS up off the bus. I might even fit in another walk while he's at Taekwondo.
Bye for now, Cate

Yesterday
I dropped our GS off at the bus & went to Launceston. I had a haircut first up (quite short) & then did some Christmas shopping. I bought a mobile phone for my LH(his 1st-lol!) & rang my SIL & arranged to meet at her new house. I helped her take down curtains, ready for the house to be painted & had a quick look around. I am so happy for her. She is excited about buying a house. It is really her first major decision since her marriage break-up & I can see it being a way of her moving forward with her life. :) I love my SIL :beating: She asked me my opinion on whether a cupboard between the kitchen & dining room should stay or go & the painters removed it while we were there. It opened the room up & looked much better. She was also having gardening done so that when she moves in it will all look good. We went back to her current place & talked for an hour or so & then I went home.
When I got home my LH was brush-cutting and our place looked excellent. We had a pleasant evening together & I got a great night's sleep.

Today-
I feel good. My LH has gone to golf and I am staying home. I'm just going to potter about & do a little housework, go for a walk, pack a bag, read the paper etc. We are going to Hobart tomorrow to visit our YS and will be home on Mon night. It will be nice to see him & go out for a meal together. It's his 28th birthday on Monday :)

Book of good things-
I'm starting it today. I haven't yet as I was waiting for something momentous to happen for the 1st page. Instead I'll start with-
Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realise they were the big things.
Then I will put the good things that happened yesterday. It will be my book of good things, big or small.

I'll start it now. I bought a Calligraphy pen the other night in town & have a lovely hand-made book- paper & all with an elephant on the front & a rope tie around it. It's a lovely looking book & it will get better & better as I reflect on the good things in my life.

Love to all, Cate.

I added saw a Forrester kangaroo during my 90 minute walk through the bush to my book of good things. Had a lovely day today.
I'll be away for the next 2 days, visiting our YS in Hobart :beating:
Bye, Cate.

good to hear that you had such an exciting walk... and you were able to spot a kangaroo! I've always wanted to go to Australia to see one myself. Hope you had a good weekend :D

:D Back to normal thank goodness!
Kangaroos in the wild-
Any night I can step outside onto our decking & shine a torch on a wallaby(like a small kangaroo) but seeing a Forrester kangaroo(Eastern Grey Kangaroo) is, unfortunately, nowhere near as common. We live on a 50 acre 'block' and are truly surrounded by nature. I love it!

Trip away-
Was lovely. Spent most of the 2 days with our YS & his GF. Had dinner on Sunday night with lots of his friends at the hotel that he works at. On Sunday nights they have a really good jazz/blues band play & I danced & danced & had a ball. We walked to it & walked back & I had lots of exercise & fun. :D
Yesterday the 4 of us went to 7 Mile Beach & went for a lovely, long walk & did lots of beach-combing. I have a couple of lovely beach rocks to add to my kitchen bowl of rocks & some shells for the bathroom bowl of shells.
My Book Of Good Things-
has had a few things added including "overheard our son's boss say "R's mum is really cool." Nice.

I have only just got back from taking my MIL into Launceston for another Cystoscopy. It is quite hot & I am chilling out (& down) I am about to search for accommodation for our OS & DIL in Hobart. The place we stayed is booked out the w/e they are going. It was fairly ordinary, but cheap & clean. I had better start looking now. Bye for now, happy Cate.

Sounds like your weekend away was as much fun as ours was. We also walked along the beach picking up shells and stones and had a little competition between us as to who could find the prettiest object and who could find the ugliest object.
It's great to overhear somebody say something nice about you. I love it if I hear my kids on the phone saying something nice about it me when they don't know that I can hear them.:)

Your weekend away sounds lovely! :D I love seeing kangaroos as well but make sure i dont go too close cause there dangerous if they get angry. i really hate that people go around shooting them here, and did u hear about the people in queensland that shot a koala 15 times? Soo sad :(
Where abouts in Australia do you live Cate? I live in Mildura (Victoria) its like country/desert lol.
Nikita xo

Nikitahh, You cracked me up with the image of angry kangaroos! I live in the north of Tasmania in the bush. Tasmania is beautiful & I love living here but originally I too lived up on the Murray River but closer to Albury. It is oh so hot up there! My grand-parents had a pet kangaroo when I was young & we used to play-box with him. He never got angry, although we must have tormented him really with our silly games. I'm glad that people cannot keep wild animals as pets any more. I love that we can see wallabies, kangaroos etc in the wild. They thump their tales on the ground to try to frighten you off their territory but then they hop off elsewhere. They are def. not at all scary. LOL. I'll steer clear of Mildura ones if I'm ever up your way again. Thanks for visiting my diary sweets, xo Cate.

Yesterday-
I wrote the letter to my old friend who is dying from a brain tumour. I am writing that in my book of good things. It is good to get the chance to tell your friends how much you care for them while you can. I hope she is able to get a laugh at my letter as well as some comfort :beating:

Today-
is laaazy day. I have just polished off a book & my husband & I are having a delightfully lazy day before picking our GS up off the bus, taekwondo etc. :)

Hope all are well. Love from me, xoxo Cate
