Cantona's Calorie Cutout Countdown Continuum (updated weekly)

Worked over the weekend and thanks to some guy at work not coming in I had to do his job, which involves horrible manual labour. Moving big TV's around (I do admin in a TV repair workshop). It was basically like having a gym workout, perhaps even more tiring. So two days of that and was all ready to to the gym on Monday, but forgot my kit, so went Tuesday instead. No problem just swapping the days over. Went to the gym on Wednesday, and will go on Friday too.

A few months ago I went to get a suit fitted for my sisters wedding. She came home for her birthday (see pictures) and noticed I had lost some weight so made me go back to get myself refitted. Whilst most of the measurements were the same, I had gone down a waist size. Which was nice. Although the more I shop on the high street (The years of being a blimp meant I bought everything online as nothing fitted me) the more I realise that different shops have different sizes and it's quite annoying.

Also my lunches have changed a bit. I basically cook up a big batch of soup and freeze it in various containers and then get one out and eat it for a few days. But I kept forgetting to get it out, so at the weekend and Monday, I had 2 Ryveta, cheese and pickle on top. Tuesday I ate at the gym and had a tuna baked potato. But went back to soup for the rest of the week. Tomato soup I made this week. It isn't as nice as butternut squash :(

Another thing I have noticed from this weight loss is my sleep. Most days I can get away with seven or seven and a half hours sleep and feel fine. This never would have happened at a bigger weight. I used to always wake up tired and not have had enough sleep. I never need more than 8 hours.

Evening FOOD:

Friday: Pork kebabs (with peppers) with rice and stir fry
Saturday: Cottage pie with peas and green beans
Sunday: Roast chicken with roast potatoes, broccoli, carrots, roasted sweet potato, parsnips and gravy.
Monday: Chicken leftovers, potato salad (new potatoes, mayonaise, chives) with lettuce, tomato, half a hard boiled egg and small bit of pickle.
Tuesday: Sausage, cheese burger, salad and potato wedge's
Wednesday: Chicken korma, rice and extra sweetcorn *

*from work.

Just saw your photos--Hello gorgeous!! You look so different..It's mental. You really are doing so well--Can't believe how much weight you've lost in such little time!
Keep up the good work mate xxx

Friday and Saturday I didn't have my usual lunch. Had a bit of a "treat" and had a small piece of quiche on Friday with lots on salad and then on Saturday had 2 Ryveta, cheese and pickle. It's good to mix it up.

Been a crap week for exercise. Friday and Sunday I went to the gym and had the idea of going this week, but every day after work I've just felt so tired. 5 days in a row of 6am until 2pm really takes it out of you. I will be going on Monday morning though. Working afternoons at work, so I can just go as soon as I get up.

Fairly interesting situation coming up this weekend. Going to my sisters wedding, so going to see a couple of relatives that I haven't seen since before my regime change. Be interesting to see if they notice and what they say. The wedding means I can't go to the gym at the weekend, which is why I won't be going back until Monday. The wedding also gives a good photo opportunity to show the difference during my weight loss as my other sister got married in September, just before it started (when I last saw some of these relatives) so hopefully I can show a decent difference.

Despite the crap week for exercise, I have lost a bit of weight, which is always good.

The fodder:

Thursday: Lasagne, garlic bread and extra carrots *
Friday: Fish, chips and mixed veg *
Saturday: Steak and chips with salad
Sunday: BBQ chicken, potato salad, bit of egg, salad
Monday: Barbecued kebabs (beef with mushroom and onion), pork with jacket potato and salad
Tuesday: Roast lamb, potatoes, parsnips, carrots, broccoli and gravy
Wednesday: Cold cuts of ham and lamb with chips and salad
Thursday: Chinese takeaway

Thanks, you're doing so well too. :D

A naughty weekend, due to going to a hotel for my sisters wedding. My diet was very poor at the weekend. So I went straight to the hotel from work, had a tuna and sweetcorn sandwich at a service station with some grapes. Then for lunch on Saturday I had a chilli beef sandwich from Tesco (both of these were the lowest calorie sandwhiches I could find). Then on Sunday I commited the biggest sin. I chose to have a McDonalds. Now, a while ago I said to myself that when I hit my goal, a McDonalds and a few pints would probably be what I would choose to have as celebration. I haven't had a McDonalds for well over a year, and I have to say, it really isn't as nice as I remember. The chips taste odd and the burger bun is quite sweet. Yeah it's ok, but I probably won't be rushing back for a year or so again. Because I had that at lunch time I had soup for tea (with a small piece of quiche).

Made a nice French onion soup this week. I have to say it is VERY nice. Basically softened onions in beef stock. Lovely stuff.

Went to the gym Monday. Tuesday I cut the grass in the morning. We have quite a big garden, so it takes about an hour pushing the mower round, so it's a good bit of exercise.

Went to the gym again today (Thursday). Seems such a waste on a hot sunny day to go inside to the gym, but it works. Plan on going tomorrow afternoon after work because I have work at the weekend.

I've noticed that I am becoming less obsessed with stepping the weighing scales. Perhaps do it 3 times a week now instead of every 5 minutes.

Main meals:
Friday: Lasagne, garlic bread, small bit of salad
Saturday: Pate and bread. Then; Roast beef, yorkshire pudding, potato, gravy and loads of veg. Then; Strawberries.
Sunday: McDonalds :(
Monday: Sausages in tomatoes with pasta
Tuesday: Cold chicken and a sausage with potato salad and salad (lettuce, tomato and carrot)
Wednesday: Chicken in a hoi sin sauce with stir fry veg (carrots, mangetout, mushroom, pepper) and rice

Not been a good week this week. Up until about Tuesday I was having quite bad pains in my shoulder. This is the same shoulder I've dislocated 4 times, so decided to rest it for a few days. There's nothing worse than working on it and doing more damage.

I think because of the rest it has left me feeling tired and unactive. So I've only been to the gym last Friday. Poor form from me and I'm genuinely annoyed with myself. I really will try and go Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

So to the evening meals:
Thursday: Pork, potato salad and salad.
Friday: Steak, chips and salad
Saturday: chicken, sausage, salad and potato salad
Sunday: First: Terrine of chicken and leek. Second: Belly of pork, potato, spinach and a black pudding thing. Third: Cheese and biscuits.
Monday: Chicken with salad and potato salad
Tuesday: Spaghetti Bolognase with garlic bread
Wednesday: Spaghetti Bolognase left overs.

Tale of the tape:

Actual starting weight: 20 stones 7lbs

Current Weight: 12 stones 13lbs

Next target: 12 stones 7lbs

Final target: 10 stones

Weight lost: 7 stones 8lbs

I lost 5lbs last week, but it wouldn't be healthy or good to lose 5lbs every week. Still a bit disappointed at a 1lb loss.

Had a much better week this week in terms of getting to the gym. Went Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Wednesday. Plan on having a day off tomorrow and then back on Friday (or mowing the lawn instead and then gym at the weekend). Oddly I haven't been as tired this week.

Because I get up for work at 4:45 each day, I normally get to bed by 9. But since the World Cup has been on, it's been 10. I haven't really missed that hours sleep. I remember the days when I needed 8-9 hours just to function. Perhaps this is due to the weight loss. Who knows?

Had some chocolate cake on Wednesday. Not normally into sweet things. Savoury is my thing, give me crisps over chocolate any day. But when I was half way through my cake, God I enjoyed it. Looks like it hasn't affected my weight too badly:

Evening meals:
Thursday: Spaghetti Bolognase
Friday: Sausage, potato salad and salad
Saturday: Steak, chips and salad
Sunday: Ham, potato salad and salad.
Monday: Chicken wrapped in bacon with chips, peas and broccoli
Tuesday: Pork with stir fry vegetables and rice.
Wednesday: BBQ meats, chips and salad.

Tale of the tape:

Actual starting weight: 20 stones 7lbs

Current Weight: 12 stones 10lbs

Next target: 12 stones 7lbs

Final target: 10 stones

Weight lost: 7 stones 11lbs

Hopeful of hitting my next target next week.

Went to the gym Saturday and Sunday also went and played football an hour after the gym on Sunday. I didn't feel as tired as I thought I would. Mowed the lawn Monday as my exercise.

Had to do a lot of vigorous lifting and other such bollocks at work, so I had Tuesday and Wednesday off from the gym. I had to really think twice about going to the gym on Thursday, but I went and I'm glad I did. Also plan on going tomorrow after work.

Starting to fit into some L t-shirts instead of XL, really good feeling. I can't tell you last time I wore LARGE t-shirts. I'd hazard a guess at 13/14 years old. Amazing.

Evening Meals:
Thursday: BBQ meats, salad and potato salad.
Friday: Cold BBQ meats and salad
Saturday: grilled Pork, pepper, mushroom and tomato with rice, peas and broccoli
Sunday: Roast lamb, roast potatoes, parsnips, sweet potato, carrots and green beans with gravy.
Monday: Shepherd's pie
Tuesday: Spaghetti Bolognase
Wednesday: Pork, salad and potato salad.

Really have got back into going to the gym. Went Friday, Sunday, Monday and Wednesday.

Also did some lawn mowing on Thursday morning as a bit more exercise.

Fell foul of the food gods this week. Soup ran out about Saturday, so was having cheese on ryvita with some nice salsa relish. Probably more calories than the soups.

Today however, I made a nice mushroom soup, so will be doing that again for the time being.

Next week, going on a bit of a road trip, so will be updating this on Tuesday next week, instead.

FOOD:
Thursday: Chicken chop suey and rice.
Friday: Pork with new potatoes, carrots and runner beans.
Saturday: BBQ Chicken with salad and potato salad.
Sunday: BBQ Cheese burger with chips and salad.
Monday: Sausage, potato salad and salad.

Wow, from what you've posted you've been amazing dedicated with your food and have got great results from it!! 52kg since November is an excellent result!

Hey, thanks. It really is much easier than it first seems. Just change your bad habits to good ones.

Posting this today instead of Thursday because I'm going away for a few days and won't have access to the net on Thursday.

Speaking of which, my good habits: went to the gym; Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday (today). Been really enjoying it and not been doing anything that different from when I first started going. But just upped the speed on the cross trainer and on the bike and I still get a sweat on by the end of it. Still lifting the same weights.

Noticed some other things about not being fat: Less heart burn and indigestian, I'm not sure if this is because of my weight or because I'm eating better food, but it's probably both.

Being on this "diet" is no longer a chore, and not being able to drink alcohol isn't as bad as you'd think (although socially, it's pretty damming).

It's worth saying that if you go back to the start of this thread, you'll see that I said I'd like to be around 12/12.5 stone. This was without the knowledge of BMI or what my own weight meant. Well now that I've hit that weight, I can say that I really still do need to lose quite a bit more.

FOODZ:
Friday: Tuna, mayonnaise, pasta, lettuce, apple and sultanas.
Saturday: Steak, chips and salad.
Sunday: Chicken, sausage, pasta with pesto and salad.
Monday: Pork, potato salad and salad.
Tuesday: Beef burger and chips with salad.

Did some alternative exercise this week, Thursday I went to the zoo with my nephew and that involved a fair chunk of walking.

Food hasn't been great, Wednesday I went for a pub lunch with a friend, had a tuna sandwich with chips and salad, Thursday had a cheese, ham and salad sandwich, Friday I had a cheese, ham and salad sandwich again. Saturday I had another pub lunch of a BLT baguette with chips and salad. Back to soup on Sunday and thereafter.

On Friday I did a 3 hour car drive in the sweltering heat and then got asked to play football as soon as I stepped out of the car. Went and played football with my mates for 3 hours. I was knackered although the next day I felt OK.

Went to the gym Saturday and as I stepped on the treadmill, I felt my legs aching, managed to do 10 minutes and then went and did some weights.

Then a bombshell happened on Monday. I post on another forum and this explains it exactly how it happened:

Me on another forum said:
I came into work today after having a nice week off and quite a lot of people were looking at me and few people were all "I thought you were gone?". I simply explained that I'd had a week off and that I wasn't sacked. Then I saw my manager and he looked like he'd seen a ghost: "Alright Mike?", "ALRIGHT?". We have a little morning brief and then a few people are still coming up to me saying they thought I'd gone etc.

I see a guy who I work with and just having a chat asking each other about our time off, as he had a week off before me. I ask him where another guy (Adam) on our team is and he tells me that he was sacked, which we'd suspected. There is so little work that our little team only really requires one of us to do it all really. Someone asks him a question about something so I go and ask my manager want he wants me to do today, he tells me and I get on with it. Five minutes or so later another person comes up to me who's a team leader and says that the manager wants me to do with other work, which is basically manual labour and it's work that, LETS BE HONEST, is a bit below me. I just carry on, because that's how I roll.

The guy I work with then walks over to where I'm working. He tells me that he'd spoken to our manager last week. He told me that he'd said "I know Mike's on holiday, but where is Adam?" The reply he got was "I shouldn't really tell you this, but they've both been laid off".

I work for an agency, which is a good cowards way out for the managers because if they want you sacked, they just email the agency and someone from there tells you instead. But nobody had bothered to contact me.

So I go up to the manager and ask.
"Gary?"
"Yes mate"
"Have I been sacked?"
*he blushes*
"No, you haven't been sacked, what makes you think that?"
"Well it's just alot of people thought I had been and I know Adam has and everyone in here seemed to think I have been. So have I?"
"Well you haven't been sacked."
"I haven't? *SURPRISED LOOK*"
"Well, no but, I mean, some people are being laid off"
"Am I one of them?"
"I'm not sur..."
"So have I not got a job anymore?"
"Probably..."
"I probably have or probably haven't?"
"er, probably haven't"
"right, well can I go now and look for another one?"
"yes..."

Honestly, unbelievable, no spine or backbone and he just looked so embarrassed and was really passive the whole time.

Another annoying this is that if they'd sacked me last week I would have got my holiday pay anyway AND I could have looked for another job.

So Monday evening we had a chinese takeaway and I had quite alot of lager. I fell off the wagon, seven months of good work out the window.

Next day I had a McDonalds to get over the hangover, that's my cure of choice, it worked and I decided to get back on the wagon the very next day.

Decided nope to mope about it and get back to the gym. Went Wednesday and Thursday, but those two days have really buggered up all my good work.

Wednesday: Tortellini with tomato sauce and garlic bread with salad.
Thursday: Steak and chips with salad
Friday: Pork with rice and peas
Saturday: BBQ Burger with chips and salad
Sunday: BBQ Burger with salad and a sausage
Monday: Chinese takeaway
Tuesday: Shepherd's pie
Wednesday: Fish, chips and peas.

A disaster last week as you can see, really destroyed my own progress and just annoyed at what I did to myself.

Went crazy for the gym, went Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday. On Monday I mowed the lawn afterwards too, which is another hour of walking. Have stepped up my gym stuff. Instead of starting on the treadmill and walking briskly, I now jog for 10 minutes. Did 1.5km in 10 minutes. That's my basic goal.

Went to the gym Wednesday and Thursday.

My nephew managed to break my scales, so I went and bought some new ones which is when I found out (twinned with other scales I have used) that I'm actually 7lbs heavier and have been all the way through. Still means I have lost the same weight, just means I'm further from my goal, which deep down I think I knew really. It means I started at 21 stones instead of 20.5

Thursday: Sausages, mash potato, carrots and green beans
Friday: Chicken, potato salad and salad
Saturday: Sausages with chips and salad
Sunday: Roast Lamb, parsnips, potatoes, broccoli, carrots and gravy.
Monday: Burger, potato wedge's and salad
Tuesday: Pork, potato salad and salad.
Wednesday: Chinese restaurant
Thursday: Chicken, bacon, salad and chips.

2lb weight loss this week. Could do better.

Been a cracking week this week, been going to the gym and bloody enjoying it. Friday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday I went to the gym. Friday and Sunday I also went and played football.

Really enjoying stepping up to the jogging in the gym, I really do get a bloody big sweat on afterwards and feel nearly dead. Which is kind of good I think.

Made a nice mushroom soup this week as the food of choice. I am enjoying that immensely at the moment. May move onto something else next week.

My boxer shorts finally stopped fitting, so had to order a massive new lot. Buying new clothes really starts to annoy me and it can be expensive.

Friday: Pork, rice and stir fry
Saturday: Steak and chips with salad
Sunday: Roast lamb, potatoes, carrots, beans and broccoli.
Monday: Spaghetti Bolognaise with bread.
Tuesday: Pork, mushroom, pepper on a kebab skewer with potato salad and salad.
Wednesday: Fish and chips with peas.
Thursday: Sausages with mash potato and vegetables.

FINALLY BACK ON BLOODY TRACK. TAKE THAT WEIGHT LOSS.

I have decided that my “job” for the time being is to go to the gym. I’ve basically taken to going every day Monday-Friday and having the weekends off. So it won’t surprise you to know that I went to the gym; Friday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday I also mowed the lawn, as extra exercise. I also played football on Friday too. Thursday I have awoken with my legs in a bit of pain. Walking is a struggle, probably a sign to take it easier. So I’ll probably use Wednesday as a stop gap in future.

Lately I’ve had to get myself a belt for my jeans as they kept falling down. They were a 36 inch waist. So Tuesday I went to buy some new clothes; jeans and shirts. I grab a pair of 34 inch waisted jeans off the rails and I go to the changing rooms. Unbelievably, they are too big. So I try on a 32 inch waist and they fit. Amazing, 32 inch waist. Never in my life have I worn 32 inch waisted trousers.

Next I grab some shirts. Not knowing what size to go for I pick up LARGE and MEDIUM shirts just to make sure. Medium goes on first. It fits. IT FUCKING FITS. I’m A MEDIUM, bloody hell, how did this happen? The last time I owned MEDIUM shirts I was about 11 or something stupid.

I’m quite giddy with this success.

FOOD:
Friday: Chicken, rice and stir fry
Saturday: Steak and chips with salad
Sunday: Roast chicken, potatoes, broccoli, carrots, parsnips and gravy.
Monday: Beef burger, potato wedgies and salad
Tuesday: Fish, chips and peas
Wednesday: Pizza from Pizza Express: ham, mushroom, olive and peppers.
Thursday: Pork with salad and potato salad.

Tale of the tape:

Actual starting weight: 21 stones 0lbs

Current Weight: 12 stones 4lbs

Next target: 12 stones 0lbs

Final target: 10 stones 0lbs

Weight lost: 8 stones 10lbs

:)

So the plan for this week was to get back to the gym Friday and then Monday. Really hurt my leg Thursday when I got up and it only really got back to 100% on Sunday, so went to the gym Monday.

Tuesday did some DIY which involved putting up fencing for 3 hours and played snooker (a few calories burnt surely?) then football.

Thursday I went back to the gym again in the morning. So not as much gym as I would normally try, but still a really nice weight loss.

Going away on a small road trip on Monday for about 10 days, so not sure if I'll be to update this next week. Apparently some of the hotels have wifi, so hopefully I can.

The challenge for next week will be eating healthily whilst I have no real control of the food preparation and eating out everyday. BRING IT ON.

FOOD:
Friday: Sausages, mash potato, carrots, mangetout, baby sweetcorn and gravy.
Saturday: Chinese takeaway: Chicken Chow Mein and rice.
Sunday: Roast pork, apple sauce, roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli, runner beans and gravy.
Monday: Chicken, baked potato with cheese and stir fry vegetables
Tuesday: Sausages, mash potato, carrots, mangetout and gravy
Wednesday: Beef burger with salad and a sausage.
Thursday: Pork and sausage, rice, peas and beans.

As you can see from my food diary, it hasn't exactly been a healthy eating week this week. I've eaten lots of bad foods, some good foods and done plenty of exercise. This has basically kept me at a similar weight. If I think back to how I used to eat with no exercise, it becomes apparent why I got so big.

Monday I went away on holiday to a couple of hotels for 4 days, then at the end of the week I arrived at my uncles for healthier fair.

This week, to counteract the rubbish food I hit the gym in the two hotels. Before I left I went to the gym on Saturday at home and then I went everyday Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at the gyms at the hotels. I think this was the only saving grace.
I'm currently writing this offline in word and going to update it when I get back as I have no access to the internet at the moment.

Regular readers of my diary will know that I like to only bother with my evening meals as the I have the same breakfast and lunch everyday. Well, because I'm away from home, I had some slightly different things, so here is a meal by meal food diary.

Breakfast:
Friday: porridge and banana
Saturday: porridge and banana
Sunday: porridge and banana
Monday: porridge and banana
Tuesday: bowl of museli, one slice of brown toast and some fruit.
Wednesday: bowl of museli and some fruit.
Thursday: bowl of museli

Lunch
Friday: Soup
Saturday: Soup
Sunday: Soup
Monday: tuna mayo jacket potato
Tuesday: Tomato, brie and basil baguette
Wednesday: tuna mayo baguette with salad.
Thursday: tuna and salad sandwich

Dinner:
Friday: Fish, chips and peas
Saturday: Roast lamb, roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots, runner beans and cauliflower cheese with gravy.
Sunday: Steak, chips and salad
Monday: Camenbert with bread, THEN Beef with stilton and new potatoes with gravy
Tuesday: Fois grais with bread, THEN pork belly and mashed potato with broccoli and green beans, THEN cheese board
Wednesday: Scallops, THEN lamb with olive potato cake, spinich and tomato, THEN cheese board
Thursday: Terin (no, I don't know what it means either) of Tomato and Aubergine, THEN venison on puy lentils, beans and asparagus.
Tale of the tape:

So no progress, but after that week of food, I think this is OK. Next week I hope to be able to at least do the same again, but with eating a bit more healthily perhaps I'll get a nice surprise.

Final stay at a hotel on Thursday meant I only had breakfast on Friday at the hotel. I went to the gym before I left on Friday and then when I got to my uncle's we went for a walk which was just under 2 hours. Nice bit of exercise. Saturday we went for a walk round the town which probably burned a few calories.

Then went to my sisters after my uncle and haven't been to the gym again, but did go for some walks and stuff, but have been eating better which has shown in this weeks weight loss.

Plan on going back to the gym tomorrow and really getting back into the weight loss saddle.

Not been an astounding week for me by any means, but I haven't really hit the gym at all this week, so it is to be expected. I did however do exercise in other forms.

Friday and Sunday I played football. Sunday particularly drained me as for the next couple of days my legs felt it and I couldn't really do much else. Wednesday I did some serious DIY, putting a gate up, this involved knocking fence posts in, drilling and general building.

Other than that it's been pretty ordinary, I've found myself eating quite well and enjoying the lighter me. Just spent a fair chunk of money on new MEDIUM sized clothes. Truly brilliant. I find myself wondering if I can fit into a SMALL soon, but these are just pipe dreams.

Dinner:
Friday: Spaghetti Bolognaise and garlic bread.
Saturday: Steak, chips and salad
Sunday: Roast chicken, roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots, beans, cauliflower and gravy.
Monday: Chicken with rice and stir fry
Tuesday: Cheese burger, chips and salad
Wednesday: Sausages, mash potato, carrots, runner beans and gravy.
Thursday: Fillet of pork, baked potato and salad.
