Cannon's Journal

Hi Cannon! I know I have said it before, but I know sometimes I am TOO regimented. (Especially when I finally get my head into eating right).

I enjoyed one glass of wine last night with dinner. I was reluctant because I had not worked out and did not want to go over on my calories...but I relaxed a bit and enjoyed a nice Pinot Grigio.

My point is that a couple of cookies is okay, a glass of wine is okay...cookies and wine are gonna happen in our lives and we need to be able to eat and drink them and find balance. (I have to tell myself stuff like this a lot....I can be very anal about my calories...and that can be a bad thing). *sigh*

:)

Hey folks, I will be up to 2 miles tomorrow. I did 14 blocks today and its not much effort so adding 2 more blocks shouldn't be too bad. This whole thing started a little less than a year ago when I reallized how tough it was for me to walk a mile. I've come a long way.

I had a great Saturday, though I'm a bit down about my friend Colleen's upcoming wedding. I mentioned that last month a girl broke up with me. I didn't think of it as a big loss because I knew we weren't right for each other and I was probably only dating her out of a sense of vanity and while she was a lot of fun, we were not really compatable. The problem is I expect I'll wind up going to my friend's wedding alone. I have some great female friends, but it occurs to me how few of them aren't married so I don't even see a way to just invite a friend to go with me. I've always accepted that I usually have to demonstrate the depth of my personality before I can get a girl interested in me, but I do wish I could just turn on the charm and find a date in the next month.

Ahh, the proverbial social events that require a date. I would opt to go with a group/couple/friend of the bride that's attending her wedding. A couple you might know? I'm of the mind unless someone enters your life naturally, pressure to find a date for a social event can just make you feel blah.

Keep up with those 2 mile walks and turn them into 4 milers Cannon!

I'll be sitting with couples I know at least, but I hate the speed pressure. I have always let it happen naturally. I can be shy in social settings (at first anyway) and I haven't always felt real attractive carrying all this weight around. Therefore romance for me has always been something that happens slowly and sometimes even a bit infrequently. The pressure of finding something fast is really annoying.

Cannon,
I agree with Anna - if someone enters your life naturally, that's great, if not, go and enjoy the company of friends you know who will be at the wedding.

Finding a last minute date creates huge amounts of stress!

Hi Cannon -- I know it will be hard at the wedding, but it sure is great to look at all the progress you've made over the past year. Tomorrow two miles, and before you know it, you'll be up to five and six miles. Way to go!

Yeah i would just go without a date mate. If it means you can concentrate on having a good time with friends, no stress about what you should or shouldnt be, or be doing. Also nobody to lead you astray lol .. hey its a wedding ... i was talking food here ... :)

You're kicking some mighty fine ass there Cannon :)

Going dateless wouldn't really bother me if I wouldn't be the only single person among my friends. Its possible the MOH will be dateless and I could have fun with her possibly, but I still will be feeling like a third wheel a lot. Oh well I'll live.

I'm a bit frustrated with my inability to lose weight lately. I worked myself up to 2 miles today, and I'm still eating just as many calories (2000) as I was before the workout. I've also had a few overindulgences so I am shocking the system a bit even if its not in the best way. I'm going to work on having faith in the process and figuring the weight will come off when its ready to. I want a tape measure badly so that I can see results in inches as well as pounds.

Howdy Cannon,
Your doing really great don't get discouraged!
I have been slacking on my walks and I said I would today instead
I went to BINGO and won $180 lol go figure. 1-1and a 1/2 sounds like
something to start with for a week or 2 for walking then slowly add more.
Don't over do it or you may get burned out.Walking is fun tho and your
doing great. When I don't want to walk the floodwall I walk around my huge block that has 5 to 5 1/2 blocks to it so I try to walk that 4 times and if it is true I think 10 blocks= a mile Please correct me if I am wrong cuz I would like to knao what my 4 times around 5 blocks = lol.
Have a nice day and enjoy the wedding and DRINK lol. Tammy:)

Hey, I'm up to 2 miles as of today and I think that sounds about right. I want to get up to 3 miles so I can make sure I can do the breast cancer walk and then I'm going to drop back down to 2 miles, but start working on my speed. I really don't want to be walking for an hour until summer just because it'll be harder to find the time to get it in. There are 8 blocks in a mile so if you're walking 20 blocks you're doing 2.5 miles, Congrats on the $180 :)

Ha! That's kewl you just posted you're working on speed next, Cannon. I was going to suggest that to you. Getting that heart rate up with speed will melt the pounds away.

Excellent news about the two miles Cannon. Upping the ante is valuable in so many ways, and it's great to know that you have made such a big improvement since you started.

Cannon is up to two miles!!! I knew you could do it!! Like the previous poster said, increase your speed (safely), and the pounds will come off. Also, do you have any hand weights at home?? Every other day, when you are home do some work with the weights, that can also make a huge difference.

I used to have some small weights, but I don't know where they are. I am happy to report that the scale did start moving again this morning. I wouldn't have even weighed myself, but now that I do it first thing in the morning before showering or getting dressed I was half asleep and did it by instinct.
