Cannon's Journal

I just wanted to give you some words of encouragement....I really can relate to the "I don't want to exercise" feeling....but for me, if I just make myself do it..somewhere during my time on the treadmill, I start feeling better and end up so glad I did not give in...a trick I use when I want to skip my workout...tell myself, okay just walk ____ minutes...then I can stop (I end up going much longer, but knowing I have an "out" works for me.)

Hope you have a great day!

I'd dedicate a walk every night exclusively for the thinking aspect of the job change, what a killer combo - so busy thinking, you'll forget you're walking and having the perfect solitude to think things out in high definition.

The time does fly by when you have something to think about...your focus is shifted--just experienced that this morning....I was pretty happy about it, cause I had a headache and didn't want to walk at all...but it turned out to be a pretty good workout in spite of the headache.

Ijust wanted to drop in and say hi and did oyu come to any decisions abt school and such yet ???

I hear ya abt hte treadmill - Ive used mine once since I hauled it in 2 weeks ago and I went a whole mile in 30 mins - LOL

Thanks for popping by ladies. I got my 10th walk in over an 11 day period. I'm not doing so bad. My diet hasn't been as great during that time, but I am pretty proud of the walking. Even when I've been good about it before I have walked only in the morning and took weekends, bad weather, and days I had the blahs off. I'm doing better and I am making it out there even when I don't feel like it.

Good for you with the walking, Cannon. For the first 4 months, I really had to force myself to go to the gym. Finally it became a habit; now it's something I really miss when I can't do it. That will happen to you too with your walking.

I didn't get my walk in. I heard it from my nice comfy bed. It looks like it may have cleared up a bit, so I may go out as soon as I'm done with the diaries. I really am feeling like I'm in better shape. It may be the walking, but today I feel much more fit for some reason.

OK I'm up to 11 out of 12 days. Its gloomy, but there was no rain so I just went out for a walk. I'll be curious to see what effect this week off has on my diet. So far weekends are tough on my diet, but my summer vaccation was great for it. I wasn't even trying until the last week of Christmas break. So far so good.

I love the magical moment when you're walking in the rain and it STOPS right in front of you. Coming from the wet coast that happens frequently. I am lucky to have rain gear that I bought when I was a gardener, in case its really coming down, but getting wet is part of the fun and a small price to pay for the mystical experience of walking in the rain. Also, not many people do it, which makes it a rare experience. Enjoy! Just be happy, and don't let that mental block get to you.

Speaking of mental blocks, sometimes when I wake up in the morning I think OH no, the day is before me, I have work to do, and I grind the gears but now I am practicing "In time, I will do this...now is the time for enjoying lying in bed....now is the time for coffee and pajamas...soon will be time for getting washed..." Taking the time to get ready for any activity is AS important as the activity because it is the foundation for that activity. So don't worry if you are slow going out the door. Go out the door slowly if you must, but go out the door.

Cheers, Cannon.

Howdy Cannon,
Thank you for stopping by and sharing your kind words and advice on my little girl.I wanted to say hi to you your doing awesome congrats on that 10th walk,I love walking it is a great way to lose weight and feel great all at the same time.Have a nice day Tammy:)

Yummy

I made honey mustard chicken for dinner. Its nice to be home and have a chance to cook.

Oooo, I'd like the recipe to that! Cannon, sounds like you have rain, and I have terrible windy cold. I think we should try and steal some of T2's nice weather, wanna?

Now we're down to the 30s blech. I think I want T2's weather too. The honey mustard chicken recipe really wasn't much of a recipe. I just grilled some skinless chicken breasts and then made a dressing of 1 part honey, 1 part mustard, and a bit of dill. It was tasty and not too caloric.

I'm not going to talk about CA's weather...
I'm not, I'm not, I'm not ... ;)

Cannon, I hope you have a great day!
