Cannon's Journal

I'm back. I hope to get to everybody else's diary tonight. Seems my step-dad is doing better. That's a bonus. I haven't had a chance to walk yet and I know tonight's White Sox game is cancelled because of single digit windchills. I figure I better get out there by 3:30 so I can get the good weather. Later this afternoon I hope to be back to check eveybody else's diary and change my ticker. 375 is the goal I have had for some time for going to the hospital gym and starting on a fitness program. Hope everybody else is doing well :)

Hey Cannon,

Good to hear about ypur step-dad's improvement! Hope you made it out in the nice weather... I am going to wash cars today, that about all I have time for, and anyway its really filthy:) Have a great day:)

Hey glad to see everybody and its great to see Venice Girl back. I get to change my ticker now. Yay! My step-dad isn't as out of the woods as it looked. He may need an operation to put some stints into some of his arteries. At his age any surgery isn't a good thing. I also know he'd love to be home for Easter and I think he'll miss that. Also I saw on the news last night that somebody stole 2 laptops from the Chicago Board of Education yesterday. Those laptops contain the personal information of all Chicago teachers including our social security numbers. Way to go CPS! I have a lot going on this weekend, but I definitely want to make another pass through everybody's journals ASAP.

Walking

This whole diet started for me because I had to walk about a mile last year and it was difficult for me. It let me reallize how far out of shape I had gotten. Now that I'm walking everyday I'm up to 11 blocks as my usual walk. It does tire me out a bit, but if I pushed myself I could do more. There is a breast cancer walk in our neighborhood and it has a 1,3, or 6 mile option. Its held on Mother's Day at 8:00 and since one of the teachers at my school has breast cancer I was thinking I could get a team together to do the 3 mile walk. The thing I'm wondering now is can I take that one mile walk I'm doing and train myself up to 3 miles in a month? I guess I'm going to start increasing the distance I walk starting Monday and if I can go up another 3 blocks every week I can get there.

Good for you Cannon !! This is going to be the summer you just totally dominate all things you set out to do

I'm so stoked about your efforts. Trust me, it will get better/easier/longer/farther, just trust in that consistency buddy.

The scale really moved for you after you started moving more:D . You can do three miles. Steadily increase your time walking every few days. Stay hydrated!!! That is key!!! We are going to cheer you on as the scale shows the weight flying off.

Hey Cannon,

There is no doubt in my mind that you can make it. Just see how good you've already become with just starting to walk on a regular basic. I bet you can feel a difference too, not just see a number:) Keep it up!!!

Hey Cannon,
You walking this morning? I'm off after the Easter Bunny strikes ;)
Hope your day goes well!

Cannon, I'm sure you could do that walk if you set your mind to it. It would be a great goal to shoot for.

Have a great week ahead.

If you haven't participated in a race before, you will be amazed at the feeling of accomplishment. It matters less how far you go, just DO IT. Participate! Everyone cheers you on as you reach the finish line and it is amazing. You will reach a new level if you do this.

I like your new avatar but I wish it was a photo of you instead.

Your hard work is paying off and look how far you've come.

The trick to emptying the mind is working hard so that after we don't give a damn. I have that hurdle to cross every morning when I wake up. Work to do gotta do my work. God I hate having work to do, gotta get to work...etc...

After....AHHHHHHHH! So glad I did it.

Maybe you'd like to read this book I am finishing, called Ultra Marathon Man: Confessions of an all-night runner by Dean Karnazes. That'll get you to three miles.

Today will be a walking day. I'm thinking it may warm up a bit so I'm either going to go at 11:00 or after Easter dinner.

Happy Easter!! That is a great plan! I find that if I exercise before a meal, I am more likely to stay on track....I know its a mental thing...its like I have just done something really good for my body and I don't want to mess it up.
