Cannon's Journal

ever see the broadway musical, a chorus line? one of thesongs from that show is Kiss today goodbye -- well your new theme song will be Kiss the 4s goodbye, the sweetness andthe sorrow, we did what we had to do...:D

Good luck getting oout of the 4s :D

It really is a balancing act. I think when I finally get off this cold based diet things will be easier still. We went out to the bar after work and I couldn't have a beer--that's OK I can live, but I couldn't have a soda either. I went for a big glass of OJ for the vitamin C, but I know I was getting some bonus calories. I'd love a 10 pound loss tomorrow. I want at least 8. After all, it hasn't even been a full week.

Well I took off a good chunk of that holiday weight--more than I could have hoped for. I have a really agressive goal for next week of losing the remaining 3.2 pounds. I'm down 8.2, but I know a lot of that was water from eating the wrong kind of foods before I started slimming down again. Like I said, I'll take it :)

I really dislike that BMI indicator. I have huge bones. If I get down to 205 I won't be the slightest bit overweight. However, the tracker displays it at almost 28. There's too much that can't be figured out from simply knowing height.

Well done!! I love your attitude, ie it's a lifestyle change, in it for the long haul so little slip ups are not the end of the world etc :D

You're right. It can be a good indicator/guideline, but it has so many exceptions! Eg muscular people may come in as overweight, and older people can often come in as underweight, when they are perfectly healthy, but have just lost a bit of muscle mass! However, being neither muscular, or elderly, and having a pretty average build, I like using it myself. :)

Yeah i agree with the BMi thing.
I have friends who are WAY fatter than me, and yet still 10-15kg lighter than me :/
its both annoying in the fact that they weigh less than me, but cool because i look better :D

most doctors will agree that bmi is just a rough estimate - because muscle weighs more than fat does - so it's not always a good indicator... but when you get to where you want to be - bmi won't matter now will it :D

right nw, it's just another number to watch drop :D

Good morning my dear Cannon!! I've got no better words of wisdom than have already been offered in regard to BMI, so I won't bore you. :p You just keep getting better and kicking that scales butt!! YOU ROCK CANNON! Happy Friday to ya!

Thanks folks. Yeah, I really just dislike that my goal weight is still overweight on the BMI lol. My skeletal structure is huge. I have 13 EEE feet and a wrist circumference over 8 inches. I lost 100 pounds in a very unhealthy manner over 2 years when I was about 22. I think it has helped me remember that losing this weight isn't the end of the line. You don't lose the weight and suddenly all those bad habits that put it on go away. That's why I'm looking at it as a lifestyle change. I was on a diet for 2 years and then watched as I gained what I lost and then 100 more pounds. I've made more positive changes this time around--changes that I think are lifetime changes. The last diet I was on I lost 4 inches on my waist about 3 or 4 years ago. I did eventually go back off, but you know what? I never regained those 4 inches. I think its cause I did it nice and slow and did make some positive changes. I'm still making changes too. Friday used to be a day I let up a bit. Its not anymore, though Saturday will still show me eating and or drinking a little more.

Hey Cannon,

God work with loosing the most of the holidayweight:) Thats so great! Even with a cold you are unstoppable when you put your mind at it:)
That IBM thing: if its at 205 you feel best healthwise and are most comfortable then don't mind that some simple mathproblem says you are too big. Like everyone says it leaves no room for the difference in peoples built. Just focus on you and your own feelings than rely on that IBM. I am heading to get a lower IBM, but I still will make me own feelings the foremost indicator before some number I get with some easy calculations:) Well, have a nice weekend:)

KNow thy self..........If your a big boy then your goal weight should be perfect!!!! ;)
just cuz some one somewhere decided that every one in a certian height should weigh the same, does not mean it's a great idea!!!! I keep reading ones that say i should weigh like 110lbs (5'2") I'm like no way.......my goal is 120 thank you.........geesh!!!
keep up the great work dude!!! STAR

Hey everybody. I guess the only thing about the BMI that I have an issue with is the fact that my ticker has to have it on it. I am doing OK. I had more calories than I would have liked yesterday, but that was a result of trying to avoid the things that would hurt my cold. The cold is almost gone at least :). Once that goes I'll be able to really start making some progress as I can have more fruit, veggies, and whole grains.

Ok Cannon, I'm standing on the side lines here starting the "Cannon has made it into the 3's" cheer. The crowd is starting to swell, and it's going to be a loud noise when you get here!!!

Heya Cannon,

That cold sure sticks with you. But at least the worst must be over.... And then I'll see you on the greener side (okay, my humour is lame today: so I am going to spell it out: veggies = greener) Okay, think maybe I should go get some food, I can always blame my weak humour on low bloodsugar... Have a nice day:)
