Camy's diary

You know, probably best to attack it now before she makes firm plans and just tell her the truth.
If you leave it too long shes gonna be pissed because she started making plans already, and it may damage the friendship living together with resentments .

Alternativly lie through your teeth and tell her your other half went nuts at you for renting it out without asking and he had plans to turn it into a computer room or some such toy train room :D

For starters I cancelled her visit to see the room, so I have over a week to think (she is going to Nigeria for a week) if I do want her to move in or not (the man thinks it would be good because we are paying more rent than we are allotted and she would even it out, but that said we do have more than enough money to survive... not this week in particular as our money got lost beween London bank and here bank, but generally speaking).

I should get my period today or tomorrow (I feel periody), and I am not hungry at all (plus I am constipated... oh what joy!). So I am not eating more than I feel like, which is little.

Food of the day:
Breakfast: 1/2 pineapple, (baby)cereal
Lunch: 1/2 pineapple, 1/4 papaya
Dinner: ??

Exercise:
swimming

hah glad im not the only one who gets constipated right before, though i eat worse the day before and get cravy in general.

I fight with my man, I see it coming, I know I could not if I tried and still every time again I do it... argh! So yesterday we had the umpteenth fight about our future, which everytime goes exactly the same. I want to finish my training (2 years) and then have a baby while/before I specialise because I think it would be harder if we wait and yadayadayada he does not want a child in 2 or 3 years because he suffers from egomaniac peter pan complex, round and round we go.

Anyhow I got my period, so I didn't swim yesterday, but I am not constipated anymore (woohoo) and I have already started to become less bloated. Now starts what we will call "The final countdown", from today I have exactly 1 month to get to the weight I really really NEED to be before leaving.
Now since I am not sure how much I weigh right now, it is hard to put a number to it, but I am going to guess I need to lose 7 pounds to get there. This will be ner impossible, since I am too small to begin with to really manage to safely lose 2 pounds per week, but I will try!
The MasterPlan:
-up the exercise: I will do 20 minute of (whinewhine) elliptical 3 to 5 days a week before swimming, plus continue swimming 5 days a week, no excuses
- continue eating consciously (I am not really eating badly, haven't touched chocolate or similar in a few weeks), try to eat enough to get to 1300 cals a day min.
- don't eat a lot of fried rice

The problem zones:
- the weekends; we will go away every weekend (we are planning on at least), this sunday we are going on a boattour, next weekend to the beach, the weekend after is a long weekend as it is Farmer's day and election day, so we are planning on going on safari, then there are 2 more weekends, but I am sure we will find something to do those weekends too (plus we need to cross the border once at least because we need to get a new 60 day stamp on our visa). I need to try to eat consciously even when away! Not too little! Not too much fried food.
- my awful lazyness: plan of action: 1) think it will only be 4 weeks of torture and then you get holidays with the family, 2) remember that the whole family will be there, that is a lot of people who will be impressed if I manage to be under 130! 3) picture the beautiful clothes I will be able to buy there!

Ok, so I am full of motivation, I will not be defeated, I am going to load my brandnew spanking Ipod with music and take it to the gym with me, and I will kick this weight in it's rightful bottom!

Food of the day:
Breakfast: 1/4 of pineapple, 1/2 papaya

Lunch: 1/4 chicken, french fries (small portion), diet coke
Snack: I bought an icecream scoop, ate two spoonfulls and then didn't feel like it, threw it out
Dinner: small side salad, 1 coke (full fat coke ;)), small mug hot chocolate

Exercise:
walking in the shopping mall and cleaning like crazy, the whole house is now clean and beautiful!

BREAKING NEWS:
we bought a scale, a digital one (never had one of those before, but used the flatmate's digital and love how exact it measures), and I weighed myself... I only weigh 134! Which is 2 pounds less than I thought! I am so happy! And I am only 5 pounds away from 129, the 12x are coming! And only 3 pounds away from 59 kg, which is my big thing!
I have lost 3 kg (6 and a bit pounds) since arrival 5 weeks ago, which means I am doing something right and I can feel good that if I continue going as I was I will manage to be under 60 kg for my trip.
Will go and update the ticker now!!!!

This morning I felt weird, bloated and a bit yucky, but then I had only slept 4 and a half hours and I thought it may be that (plus yesterday's awful choice of hot chocolate... stupid stupid me!). We went on a daytrip to the volta, and I had no breakfast, then at like 12 I got hungry so had lunch, then hunger went and never came back. We cam home and about 10 minutes after coming tbhrough the door I started having a "runny tummy". I have gone 4 times, and I feel much less bloated!
But I am not going to eat dinner, give the tummy some time to recover.

Food of the day:
Breakfast: nil
Lunch: 1/2 a chicken thigh, 1/2 tilapia, fried rice with veggies, 1/3 of a portion of french fries
Snack: 1 coke
Dinner: nil

Exercise:
not much

Tomorrow, if I have recovered (which I am sure I have) I am starting my exercise routine, will do elliptical and swimming and sit ups. Next sunday I want to weigh 60 (132)!

OK, I figured out what is wrong with my poor digestive system... I have giardiasis. It is an infection with small unicellular buggers, they coat your intestines and give you cyclic diarrhoea, a lot of wind and bloating, yucky burps, no appetite and malabsorption which leads to weightloss (all of which I had for the past week). So I am going to guess that the last 2 pounds may be attributed to the giardia. It is a good and fast method for weightloss but quite painful! ;) I must have caught it when I was swimming in the volta river, oh well!
Anyhow I am glad I recognized the symptoms and I wrote myself a prescription (need antibiotics) and I am going to be on the mend soon enough (should not take more than a day to get rid of most of the little buggers).
I feel really good other than the wind and the diarrhoea, but I am resting for today. This evening if I have stopped pooping I am going to swim though! And start the elliptical tomorrow when I have eaten more than 500 cals! I want to be proactive enough as to not gain back what I lost due to the amoebes!

Today food:
Breakfast: nothing
lunch: apple sauce, fruit
Dinner: 2 bites of sushi, 1/3 of a fish fillet, about 50g of veggies, 1 tonic water

exercise:
30 min swimming

Another day and I am not at work, this parasite business is not going away and the worst thing is, I look better than ever, feel fantastic, until I eat, then I feel too full and bloated and yuck (and I only have a couple of bites of stuff) and then once it moves down, I feel fantastic again. Plus I look really good, with a few pounds less. I look a hundred million dollars actually!

Now, I am not sure if I should exercise hard or not, because I am afraid of hurting my body, consuming nothing and burning off a lot, but then if I am feeling fine, can I not "use" this state to lose as much weight as possible? I may post this over in the harsh truth section and see what the experts think.

Anyhow yesterday we went for dinner and I ordered a fish fillet and veggies and we had a sushi starter. Well I ate 2 bite sized sushi pieces and then wasn't hungry by the time the fish arrived, so I had 1/3 of it and was sooooooo full. I had 1/3 of the veggies just because I felt I had to eat them and the man ate the rest of my food, but he said this parasite thing is going to make him gain weight if I continue to not eat and give him all my food.
This morning I was all ready to go to hospital, I had breakfast, a bowlful of baby cereal with applesauce in it, had 3 spoonfulls and felt like I was going to explode. I put the rest in the fridge but it has been 3 almost 4 hours and I am still complete and utterly stuffed. Had a bit of a runny tummy again but nothing major.
Tomorrow I am definitely going back to work!

Food of the day:
Breakfast: a little bit of soy milk-babycereal with apple sauce
Lunch: tomatoes (7 small ones)
Dinner: tomatoes and pickled cucumber with hummus and a bit of meat, 1 tonic water

Exercise:
(followed Steve's advice half way, didn't run, just swim) 30 lanes swimming

(tomorrow when I start running I am going to start with 20 mins, 30 lanes, and then increase the swimming to 40 lanes, then 50 lanes and then possibly increase the elliptical by 5 minutes, so that eventually I will do 30 mins elliptical and 50 lanes)

Sorry to hear about the giardiasis :(

Hopefully it clears itself up so you can at least enjoy a little good food over Thanksgiving! Definitely take it easy on the exercise though, but it sounds like you are progressing nicely!

Take care and keep up the GREAT WORK!

I am pretty much mended, wooho, even felt hungry today (kind of).

Not much to report, went to work, came back, am internetting until I go to the hotel (gym and pool)... need to put some music on my brand spanking new (red) ipod! My friends in London gave it to me as a parting gift and it is the most awesome gift ever!

So food of the day:
Breakfast: 1/2 pineapple
Lunch: 7 small tomatoes, 2 hardboiled eggs, 1/2 papaya
Dinner: salad and kidney beans (about a canful), plantain chips to munch while I watched "friends"

Exercise:
40 lanes swimming (once again did not manage to run... the Ipod filling was more trouble than expected, I am a loser!)

Yeah I know, I cheated... but I didn't do it on purpose!!!!

Today was my midweek weigh in, I lost half a pound, which may not seem much but that puts me under 61 kg, so it feels pretty amazing to me that I am only 900g away from 59.9!! I haven't been udner 60 since... probably when I was 18 years old. Maybe earlier, I remember being 15 and weighing 57, so maybe I was even bigger at 18.
Anyhow, I will keep working hard because I definitely want to be by 60 on Monday (which is my next weigh in), but I know it will be hard because if I only lost 200 g in the fort 3 days, I am nto sure I can lose 800g in the next 4!

This weekend we are taking a bus to Takoradi (that is like 4 hours from here) and the man will teach me how to surf. I am going to guess that learning to surf burns a ton of calories! So I am happy and quite excited, never thought I'd be a surfer girl, but maybe by monday I am! And even if not, we will swim in the sea and walk on the beach, all things that are nice and burnburnburn the fat! We will be back by sunday evening, which is why my weigh in has been moved to monday.

Food of the day:
Breakfast: 1/4 pineapple, 1/4 papaya
Midmorning snack: apple
Lunch: 1 hardboiled egg, french bean and tomato salad
Dinner: steak and veggies (possibly rice), 1 tonic water (we are going out with friends, yumdiyum)

Exercise:
elliptical
swimming

Camy

Wow, you're really staying on top of your goal despite the sickness... glad it's getting better! Man, you do a lot of exercise... and congrats on that 61k low!!!! eeek!!!

I am off to surf for the weekend, will report with food for the whole weekend etc... on sunday evening or monday.
Camy

We are back, slightly injured, but back.
I surfed and I am actually good at it! Surprise there as I wasn't sure if I wanted to surf at all in the beginning. Thie African Life has gotten the best of me, I hike, I surf... things I would have normally never done. But I am very proud of myself. We surfed for 2 hours on saturday afternoon. That is where I sustained my injury, I scraped my knees on the board really hard and one of them doesn't look so great, it is oozing and pretty disgusting, I have it now clean and bandaged and even put some antibiotic stuff on it just in case, better safe than sorry.
My man started feeling nauseous on the way back (well so did I, but I am still only a bit nauseous nothing major), and he has been throwing up for about an hour now. I feel really sorry for him, because there is nothing worse than vomiting (in my eyes), and I really hope I don't get it. He said his part of the fish we ate today had some black stuff on it which tasted gross, but mine didn't. Hopefully that (or the car which was really shaky shaky) is what caused his upset tummy and won't affect me. I also hope he is all better by tomorrow (and I hope my knee is all better ASAP, as I am not going to go swimming with an oozing flesh wound).

So food of the day saturday:
Breakfast: omelette, pineapple juice
Lunch: grilled fish and rice
Dinner: 1 coke, grilled fish and sauteed potatoes

Exercise:
1 hour long walk on the beach
1 hour long swimming in the sea
2 hours of surfing

Sunday's food of the day:
Breakfast: omelette, 1/2 portion of fruit with a little bit of yoghurt
Lunch: tuna fish, rice
Dinner: nothing

Exercise:
3 hour long walk on the beach (limping... is that extra calories?)

We had a fairly good time, the surfing was awesome, the first night we stayed at a very nice place too, the second night we stayed at a shithole and I barely slept 1 hour all night (or maybe 2), it was hot, no electricity, no water, yuck!
I am crispy tanned though! Woohoo!
Camy

OK, we ended up in hospital all night while they rehydrated my man... I slept 2 hours once we got back, but I am shattered. Two nights in a row with 2 hours of sleep, I am going bonkers.
Good news is I am 1 pound down, bad news is I really really hoped it would be 2. Oh well a pound is better than nothing!

Today the eating is kind of completely random, so nevermind it. Plus no exercise because of the busted knee, I am going to try and go and ease myself back into it from tomorrow or wednesday onwards, until then, the eating neats to be near perfect, so I don't gain!

Today's food:
Brunch: plantain chips
Dinner: big salad with kidney beans

Camy

OK, I decided to weigh in again, because I thought the lack of sleep could have interfered with my weigh in yesterday (there is something in sleeping that makes you lose weight... I really should consider sleeping 20 hours a day!). And, wohoo: 2 pounds down! So I made my aim, I am 60 kg now and I can really really hope that I am 59 by next week, which is beyond amazing. 50ies here I come!!! I can't believe I almost lost 30 pounds already.

Non scale victories:
- my upper body looks the way it should look, front and back! You can kind of see where the ribcage is (without seeing the single ribs I want to be skinny but not concentration camp skinny!) and my bra doesn't leave me with a partition in the fat anymore
- my face is smaller, the chins are disappearing and because of that my eyes look bigger. Plus I seem to have cheekbones afterall!
- my belt, who I could barely close when I started 11 months ago, now closes nicely and I have a good 3 or 4 inches of spare belt.
- I can do sports and nobody questions my capability (other than me), they seem to have stopped thinking "the fatty won't be able to ... (insert sport)"
- when I look in the mirror I don't see someone fat anymore, I see someone who could do with losing 10 pounds or so, but I am not horrified or disgusted anymore.

I am going to work now, then to the doctors (I have some poop problems, honestly you don't want to know!) , then to the gym, I am going to go on the elliptical today I think. I need to be 59 next week, that will be my motto of the week: INTO THE 50IES!!!
Camy

Food of the day:
Breakfast: nothing (there was nothing in the house to eat)
Lunch: huge salad made out of rice, left over beans and tinned tuna
Dinner: will be a big vegetable soup I think

Exercise:
the man and I decided to go for a long walk before dinner, will be nice, I am so in love these days (nothing like a night in hospital to remind you of what you have and shouldn't lose) that I can't wait to just be with him.
Also gotta run like 27 errands before that! By foot!
