Caiman's weight loss journey

Thanks peeps :D

I thought I'd post a screenshot of my 'motivational spreadsheet' which I use to track my weight loss each week. All I do is type in my weight in pounds and a few magic formula does the rest. I have a copy stuck on my fridge and on my desk at work, both of which I update every week too!

I find the colourful varieties of 'obesity' (which are linked to the target column, so I left 'morbidly' behind a good few weeks ago now!) very motivational, hehe :p

I haven't got any graphs yet but once the spreadsheet is fully populated and I reach the end of my journey (and I have definitely started believing it's 'when' I get there and not 'if' hehe) then you can be sure I will churn some lovely graphs out!

I'm not in work today and I keep my food/exercise log in a draft email there, so I can't post until tomorrow. Suffice to say though I felt I had a good week and notched up the walking quite a bit on previous weeks, I have 'only' lost a single pound this week- but I am not down on that, a loss is a loss.

Starting weight: 320lbs (18/10/2010)
Current weight: 284lbs (17/01/2011)
Weight loss this week: 1lb
 
So as I noted last week, I've found a new route to walk home from work which is just over 4 miles, rather than the 1.5 miles direct route I usually take (and still do in the mornings). Basically it's via the supermarket I use in a local town centre. This has added an extra 12 miles a week to my routine and will hopefully continue to contribute to the weight loss- over time I'll probably start walking to and from work via this route, though I'll wait and see on that front! As posted above I didn't make as big a loss this week as the week before, but a loss is still a loss.

My pedometer wasn't actually delivered until Friday so it will be next week when I include my 'steps per day', for now though last week's diary;

Monday 10th January 2011 - 285lbs

Well yesterday was the first day I kept the pedometer with me all day, and I logged 12,988 steps! Very pleased with that, as I want to be doing in excess of 10,000 per day to aid in the weight loss and I achieved that many just by walking my usual routine, the 1.5 mile walk to work and the 4.25 mile walk home- sat on my arse for most of the day at work though so a good 8 hour stretch of not adding many steps to the total each day!
 
A bit premature and again, I don't want to get into the habit of weighing myself everyday only to be disappointed by natural 'fluctuations' but I did hop on the scales this morning before work and they showed me at 308- a bit of a milestone for me as that's the lowest I've ever got to in previous attempts (since originally surpassing that weight a good few years ago). Fingers crossed come my monday weigh in I'm down under that!

I weigh myself everyday to keep myself in line and just to take part in the weigh yourself everyday challange. Fingers and toes crossed for monday's weigh it.

Diary this week including bonus step counts! Well, I achieved my aim of doing at least 10,000 steps per day... during the week, but didn't do this many on either Saturday and Sunday. My routine continues to require improvement on the weekends. As with last week, I 'only' lost a single lb this week, I'll say it again, a loss is a loss- but I would like to increase it again next week, so I need to review what I'm doing day in day out again because I'm sure I can highlight areas where I am slipping.

Very tech savvy!! All i am seeing is a potential maths/Geo lesson (i am a teacher..its the side effect of the job). Anyways, i hope you do see that big weight loss on the scale this week..with all that work you are doing i am sure that it will pay off. waytogo!!!
 
My aim last week was to avoid the 'extra' snacks I've been foolishly indulging in and not keeping great track of (these 'healthy fruit bar' style things which are actually 150kcal, sugar topped wafercake type things) and also to avoid the diet sodas, as I had a feeling these are responsible for increasing my appetite in the evenings. That, coupled with keeping up the momentum and walking the same distance I do through the week, on the weekend, has I think helped to contibute to me reaching my next milestone of 20 stones/280 lbs, which is 3 lbs down on last week, 40lbs down since I started back in October '10, yay. I haven't been under 20 stones since I was 20 years old, which is six years ago... so it's very exciting to be waving bye bye to this weight.
