Byebye Big Bum!

I wonder why women do this. As if what size we are compared to other women makes us better than or not as good as they are. I think it's such a sad reflection of what our society and the current media does to women and girls.
I agree to a certain extent Stacy, but I do it as well. It's not about feeling superior as I feel compassion for the bigger women. It's just a sort of measure to how far we have come. I used to do it when I was fatter and not many people were bigger than me and now I notice that I am smaller than more and more people.

Exactly my point.

com·pas·sion - noun
a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune

Why feel sorrow for someone just because she's bigger than you? That's what our society has done. There is nothing wrong with being a big person as long as you eat right and exercise regularly. You can be healthy and fat just as you can be unhealthy and thin.

Our current society has changed almost everyone's attitude toward people who are larger. Human beings naturally come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and colors - and instead of trying to squish that we should embrace it.

Just my two cents. lol

Your'e exactly right. We shouldn't just assume that people are unhappy or even unhealthy when they are fatter than we are. I saw a documentary last night on Tongo where the people there considered skinny to be ugly.

Yeah totally! And check out a lot of the classic paintings - those women where plump and beautiful. Bigger girls where considered sexy for a lot of our history. At the turn of the century, Lillian Russell -- at a weight of over 200 pounds -- was a reigning sex symbol.

Some time in the future I'm sure they will look at what our main stream media today considers sexy and wonder what on earth we where thinking. lol

Looking round the pool though, although I do not have a bikini body by any stretch of hte imagination, I don't feel bad at all! I'm smaller than a lot of the women here and am so glad I lost some weight before coming. The new tankini is perfect for sunbathing yet feeling quite covered up when i walk around. Can't help playing the old "fatter or thinner than her" game in my head all the time though...

I did this a lot over the weekend too while on our mother-daughter mini vacation. I wasn't very self concious about my weight - I was thinking more of all the bruises I had! It looked like someone beat the tar out of me! LOL! That's what happens when you get 'attacked' by a big old, heavy ladder...

I have a tankini too that I bought about 5 or 6 years ago that I wore this weekend. My bottoms have a removable little 'skirt' that goes with it, which I kind of like for covering the 'hail damage' on my butt and upper thighs (that's what my celulite looks like to me). I haven't fit into that thing in a LONG time. The bottoms were a tiny bit big for me, but stayed up well enough to be playing around in the pool with the kids, but there's no way I could have dived in, or gone down the slides at the water park. They would have probably fallen off. The top fit around the bust fairly well, but the bottom of the tankini was baggy and would float up while I was in the water. Every time I got out I had to make sure to pull it down - and I DEFINATELY wanted it down! My belly looks so gross right now after having the twins, and now losing all this weight. The skin is just nasty! I was thinking I should go shopping for a different swim suit - one that has a regular bikini top, but has high waisted bottoms to cover up my lower belly better. I think I've seen such a thing before anyway....

Hope you and your daughter are having a blast!

LOL! Fatter of thinner than her! I couldn't help but laugh! I'm back to check on everybody and I see that you are doing well. Great job, and I'm with you on the tankini.

Jjjay! Hope youare havin a wonderful time and enjoying the saunas! (My fave part of my stays here at cottage.) Relaxing and mind cleansing.

And like Eycky said.....enjoy yourself. Treat yourself to the goodies and worry about it when you get back. We'll still be here to beat you to the straight and narrow again lol.

I'm on dial up here at the cottage now and feel as though I am typing this with a chisel on a stone tablet lol.

Hope you are having a great vacation and looking forward to some detals when you get back!

Take care!

I'm totally jealous! lol I haven't been in a swim suit since I was 8 years old, and have NEVER been in a two piece! You lucky ladies!

Keep up the awesome work! :D

Wow Stacy you have so much fun to look forward to. :)

Definitely! :) I will say that Tankini's in my opinion are far more flattering than one piece suits for many people :) I have a couple and I like how they look much better than the one pieces which accentuate my stomach area :)

Hey guys, just chilling in the local cafe whilst waiting fir my take away grilled chicken wrap. Been a bit wayward the last few days - breakfast buffets are the work of the devil's own chef!!! In fact, all hotel buffets! Have had nice stuff but trying to limit portions ie two small pancakes for breakfast rather than a whole stack!

Walked for nearly 2 hours yesterday evening into town, around and back - pushing a sleeping and heavy child!! Must have been at least 8k and still doing lots of swimming.

Interesting debate re fatter thinner thoughts. I actually don't feel sorry for the fatter - some women look fantastic even though I decide they are larger so I take tips from what they are wearing that suits their shape or how they do it! Will write more later when I find another wifi to piggyback on!

Turkish hugs to you all!

Sounds like you are having a great time Jjjay!

(I was a buffet connoisseur until recently. I believed it was a crime to not be able to eat everything in sight until you felt you got your monies worth.)
That takes a lot of will power. Good for you Jjjay!

And thanks for the updates! Muchily appreciated.

Take care!

Awesome job on the portion control and keeping active! It sounds like you're having a lot of fun!

*North American Hugs to You!* lol :)

Buffets are the pits, it's so difficult to resist whatever your intentions. And I'm so with you Flumsey about that feeling of getting your monies worth at buffets. I was the same in restaurants about not leaving anything on my plate even if I didn't particularly like it. How stupid and greedy is that???

LOL I'm the same way. Somehow I think it all comes back to the way our mothers would hammer "cleaning your plate" into our head. "Clean your plate, you know there are starving children in Africa!" lol

ha. Thanks for the k?nd words guys but I wouldn't be too qu?ck to congratulate me...I th?nk I've managed to stay on the s?de of over?ndulg?ng w?th?n reason rather than mass?vely splurg?ng. I reakon I'll come home around 3-5lbs heav?er and then w?th some sharp?sh runn?ng and healthy eat?ng, drop that qu?te qu?ckly. I'm def?n?tely feel?ng l?ke I've expanded a b?t. Oh well, never m?nd...?ts all a matter of balance.

Well, don't be down on yourself just yet. At least wait until you get home and check out that scale before that. lol

In any case - you can always let a few pounds come and visit, just don't let them move back in. lol :D :hug2:

Well said! :iagree:

It's not like you go on vacation every day, so enjoy it! You'll have plenty of time to get yourself back to where you were pre-vacation, plus you'll have lots of wonderful memories!
