Byebye Big Bum!

heheheh life is GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD

Stepped on the scales this morning and was....wait for it....183lbs!!!!!!OMG! Not sure where that 1.4lb went from yesterday to today but I'm not complaining....HELLLLOOO WHOOOOOSHHHH!! I can't believe I am actually getting close to being in the 170s. This is SO unchartered territory. In fact, being under 13 stone (182lbs) in itself is a huge milestone.

Been thinking about the convo with Mr X - he told me had been thinking about me on his holiday when he saw the perfect sailing boat for me to buy - I kind of like the way I am pervading the other side of his life. I'm firmly established there in the work bit! He said that his colleague had been impressed with me and had sent round a long email summarising our conversation to the rest of the senior team there - great for X to hear from someone he's worked with for 20 years that I'm great! I then jokingly asked if they all feel that unloved and forlorn that all it takes is a phone from me and all this excitement....and he said YES!

So bearing in mind meetings in the future, I think I need to set some aims and targets....

1) 15 miles of running a week
2) 10 cups of water a day
3) No chocolate. That's right. NO MORE> I AM GOING COLD TURKEY
4) No Takeaways/fast food - been slipping back slightly if working late
5) Before EVERY single mouthful I'm going to think "do I really really want this?!? Do I?!? More than walking into that meeting room in a size 14 suit!?!"
6) No more spots - follow my skin care regime to the letter, each and every day
7) Fit into the new top I bought in Turkey by 17th of September (my friend's birthday)
8) Lose 6lbs by the end of September - so be 177lbs
9) Lose another 6lbs by the end of October - so 171lbs
10) Lose another 6lbs by the end of November - so 165lbs

I also want to pick my road bike up from my friend who borrowed it ages ago and get back to riding some miles as an alternative exercise.

What do you guys think I should set as my next lb target?!? Its been 176 for SO long that I can't quite think beyond it to where I want to get to in the next 6 months. I'm 5 ft 6 - 7, big hips, big bust, smaller waist so curvy hourglass shape. Size 16 in UK clothes at the moment, probably will go down into size 14 trousers in the next 7-14lbs as the 16s are getting loose on the waist but not on the hips/thighs. Is 160s going to be a size 12? 150s a size 10? I don't think I'm going to be tiny ever....but I'd like to athletic looking so perhaps a 10-12 would suit me.

It all sounds a lot more optomistic with Mr X. :D
Even if it never comes to anything but a friendship at least it is giving you extra incentive to lose weight :) He's obvioulsy been talking about you to people and if keen to have more contact with you which are all good signs. You ought to try and see him before your tan fades and you still have the gorgeous holiday glow.:)

Absolutely Val - I'm more than happy with a flirty friendship and turning it into motivation for weight loss. I think I'd run off scared if anything else was in the offering!!

Here's a snap of my holiday tan!! I'm feeling less self-conscious after walking around in a tankini for 2 weeks! I've also added photos to my before, during and after thread :D

You and me are spending far too much time sat at the computer this morning, we should be out their running!!!!!!

hahah yeah you are right!! I set aside a while this mornign to catch up on everyone's threads and I'm getting ready for a run right now!

I nearly missed that photo. Wow you have come such a long way in the last 3 months :D. No wonder you feel so confident now.:)

Hey guys :D Good morning!!

I am sick blurghhhh. Sor throat, stomach ache, headache, coughing...BLURGHHHHH. I don't even feel like eating (take it from me...this means I must be bad!!). I just want to drink really hot tea.

I was shamed by Eycky into going for a run yesterday rather than lurking on the forums all morning!! I did just under 6k but half of it was a massive hill climb so a well earnt 440 cals burnt off.

Feeling good about my before/after photo progression - thank you for all the kind comments! I saw one of my closest friends yesterday who now lives far away so although I've talked to her lots, I haven't seen her for 8 months and she was really suprised at the difference - she said that she couldn't remember me looking this good for years and years- I probably haven't since we were teenagers and would go out to salsa night clubs in skimpy little summer dresses!!!

Food yesterday:
4 cups of tea - 60 cals
1 pint of lime and soda = 20 cals
3 slices of ham and 4 slices of roast beef (3 x 21 plus 4 x 38) = 215
Chocolate = 340 cals
Grilled steak and onion baguette (small considering the bloody price in the pub!!) = 350 cals estimate
Salad = 30 cals
A few of my daughter's chips - 150 cals
Bed with feeling ill so no dinner at all...

Total - 1165 cals
Run - (440 cals)

All in all, not too bad but I need to eat more healthy stuff! Its so much easier during the week when I am at work and in a rhythm.

I have a couple of things I am aiming for clothes wise - I bought a fantastic Mango top in Turkey which has a beaded rounded neck then separates into two drapey pieces of swishy fabric before meeting again at the waist....so there's kind of an overlap down the front which is an open slit but drapes so its only kind of open if that makes sense....oh and its black and sleeveless - so an evening wear kind of top. I never would have thought of wearing anything like it before, even if the size was right - its the sort of thing that doesn't really size-upwards well...!!!...so I reakon I need to lose another half a stone before the fabric drapes in the right way...and to keep my stomach looking brown!!

Plus, I have size 14 (UK) work trousers for most of my good suits, so I am ready to move down into those when the size 16 ones get too loose. They are already getting spacious on the waist so I just need the thighs to follow and then I'll move downwards a size! This happened in the same way on the size 18s so I know I probably again have another 5-7lbs before this will be the case.

I sold some of my size 18 jeans on ebay (all the next ones that I bought in the sale before the last one) and was amazed - ok, so some of them were pretty new but people were bidding on them up to like £7-10 a pair - they really keep their value, especially as I'd bought them originally for like £12-15 a pair - admittedly half price or more in the next sale, so I guess their original original value is like £24 - 40. At this rate, I feel far less guilty about buying like 8 pairs in size 16...as I'll just do the same when I go down to a size 14!!

I hope that your'e feeling better soon. Funnily enough my husbands way of curing any illness is to go for a run. If we both have flu, he'll go for a run and be better in a matter of hours and I'll lay in bed complaining for days. There is no way I could run if I was ill.
I shamed myself into running yesterday as well and you'll probably read it in my diary that I broke my record and ran 6.5 km. I could have done more but didn't have time so the 8km that I want to do by the end of September doesn't seem far off now :D
I'm going to be running on hills as soon as I get outdoors as it is really hilly round my area. I think I better practice hills on the machine first. I'll start that once I've done my 8. :)

Feel better soon! I've been feeling a bit meh today--horrid bugs going around! You look AWESOME in that photo as well! And Mr X sounds very interested! Things are going so well for you :D

Jjjay!!!!!!

Welcome back you!!! Not that you were missed much :willy_nilly::willy_nilly::willy_nilly: but I have to admit ...this place was like a crumpet without butter while you were gone. ( Still good mind you but not real squishy and gooey if that makes sense lol) Great to have you back.

Hope you are feelin better.....really sucks to be sick this time of year...specially after vacation. Get lots of rest and eat healthy....and I hope it passes quick.

As for the pic....You look great. I can't imagine how good you must feel now with all that weight loss. But I am sure you are proud of yourself! Well done!

And your Mr.X chronicles look to be headed in the right direction! Happy Happy for ya!!!!

Again....hope you feel better and nice to have you back. Take care!

That's the pits that you aren't feeling well. I'm waiting for our first round of colds and such to start any day now. Seems like shortly after school starts for the kids they bring home their first cold to share with the rest of the family. Seems like once they get used to their classmates germs again (who they haven't seen since last spring) then everyone is nice and healthy again.

Take care and feel better real soon!

Jjjay!!!!!!

What a brilliant expression. :) I didn't know that you had crumpets in your part of the world. I thought that they were a real english thing.
I hope that you're feeling better today Jay.

Eycky....about 90 yrs ago when I was a kid, my sis used to work in a grocery store that had their own bakery....and one day she brought home 'crumpets'. I think they were six to a pack and they looked like thick pancakes with tons of pores on one side.
I remember my sis put a couple in the toaster and then buttered them until the pores were filled. They were soooo good.
Fast forward....recently I found them at a local bakery here after all those years...and I had one and it was divine! But I felt so guilty, (They must be 10000 calories each) I froze the rest of the package and they still haunt me whenever I go in the freezer!

You know...I can't remember what I ate yesterday, but those crumpets are earmarked in my brain for some reason....probably cause I enjoyed them so much.

So, yes....I guess thats a compliment Jjjay! lol

The crumpets themselves aren't very high calories, it's the butter that adds the calories. I've learnt to enjoy them with a thin scraping of butter. If I remember rightly they are about 50 cals each. My daughter has them often for breakfast.

Awww I'm chuffed to be the melted butter on the crumpet of Flumes's forum!!!! I've missed hanging out here too! Actually crumpets are around 90-120 cals each plus around 20csls for the low fat spread I put on them .... Delicious for brekkie!

I'm at the seaside in north Wales right now as it's bank holiday. iPhone surfing whilst my daughter builds sandcastles...couldn't resist the candy floss I'm afraid but had mixed salad with my fish last night rather than chips!

Oooohhhh.... Butter... Makes the world a better (and fatter) place! :drool5:

It can turn half ways healthy stuff into high calorie stuff in a hurry. Like cooking veggies in it (my kids love it, my butt doesn't) and popcorn - my hubby pours so much melted butter over his popcorn that it squishes when you chew it. Not exactly a healthy, crunchy snack any more!

When I was a kid I used to sneak into the fridge and cut a slab of butter off the stick (my mother was raised on a dairy farm and only ever had real butter in the house) and would go hide behind the couch and slowly lick it and savor it till it was gone. One day when I was about 7 I had cut off an extra large hunk and went to my usual hiding spot to eat it. Except my mother called me at that time and came looking for me. In a panic I shoved the whole blob into my mouth at once. :svengo: I gagged on it and threw it up. It took over a decade for me to be able to stand the taste/texture of butter without getting naseaus again. But then I learned to REALLY like it again. Sometimes I wonder if I should try swallowing a big hunk again to see if it puts me off butter for another 10 years. Might be worth a try!

Lol I posted it before I'd finished...still feeling rough - really sore throat and painful lungs when I breath. Not much appetite though which is about the only positive!

Feeling good about weight progress and having a tan so that is motivating for the next stage! Running is the answer i think - I have my eye on a new route which is out of town to a nearby village - must be at least 6 or 7 miles round trip. 6.5k is great Eycky from now on it just gets longer and longer plus you'll find hills are ok - just a case of mind over matter...

Mr X situation looking good - first time he's come up with reasons for me to call him in the near future - that's usually me! He must have been wondering if he was going to hear from me again anytime! Nice to be missed!

I'm sorry you're not feeling well! But I suppose not having to worry about appetite is a nice plus, if nothing else. Still, feel better soon! Everyone around here is sick too. I'll probably be next, at this rate. :ack2: :p

Wow, I can't wait until I'm running the way that you all do. It's so impressive. :)

And I'm really happy for you about the Mr. X stuff. It's terrific that things are going well with him and you. :)

So ironically funny you guys are talking about crumpets today and I swung by. Yesterday I was at a grocery store near my work and saw some and thought "hey those aren't english muffins like everyone told me!". I mean they look a bit like the english muffins I buy but not exactly. Of course the ones I found are still prolly nothing like the real thing.
