Burlesque Babe

Hey Mystic - good work on the workouts & healthy eats today.

& I'm glad you enjoy your dance class. It's always bonus to find something you enjoy that Also burns calories ( the boys are just jealous ! .lol)

Maryann C. :)

Thanks! So I decided that once I get down to 145 my reward will be to go to Victoria Secret and buy some new nice work out gear!

Another good day today.

I'm a little annoyed, I usually buy an 80 calorie a slice bread, when I went to the store I noticed they had a longer loaf of the same bread and thought 'hey, that'll last longer I will get that', It wasn't till I got home that my braid kicked in that this bread was also larger around than the other bread which of course means more calories! Grr, so now it's 100 cals per slice. Now 20 calories doesn't seem like a lot but if you have 3-4 slices in a day that's an extra 60-80 calories and that CAN make a difference. Bah.

Anyways, today I had toast and PB for breakfast, sloppy joes without the bread/bun for lunch, cheese bun for snack, smoothie for snack, and a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich. I am gonna have some watermelon for a snack later to round out my day.

Off to my dance class in about an hour.

Bread is some tricky stuff. The calories from it can sneak up on you a bit. One slice of bread is 80 calories (or 100 now) and two slices of bacon is 90. So if you make a BLT, the bread is actually contributing more to the calorie content than the bacon.

On the other hand it's very tasty, particularly when warm, and the heartier stuff has a decent amount of fiber too. You can try open faced sandwiches if sometimes you want more meat and cheese and less bread. They're messier, but if you're at home by yourself who cares.

The bread I eat is really small and dense, depending on the variety 1 slice is between 130-160 cals! But yea, it's a yeast free/ wheat free/ fully wholegrain loaf. Even though the slice is really small, it's incredibly satisfying. I love bread! When this stuff runs out I think I'll start making my own- already successfully made pizza bases and non-yeast rolls! (I think I'll attempt yeast ones next, never used it before!)

Ooo Victoria's Secret! When I want workout gear I jump online to http://supre.com.au and bulk up on their $10 tanks n singlets and wear two different brightly coloured ones. Haha I'm so cheap! Still wearing ones that I bought a year ago, don't really wear workout gear in public anymore so haven't bothered replacing them despite the stains/ holes lol.

Hey Mystic - yes- gotta read those labels- can be tricky -

I buy a whole-grain Flax bread - it's actually 120cals/slice...but with all that whole grain - 1 slice is plenty filling...& yup - so true how 60-80cals difference can add up fast - 3,500 cals/pound - at 60-80cals/day ...43 days later & you've gained a pound from that daily 80cal increase ( all other things being equal)....

Have fun at dance class.

cheers,

maryann C. :hat:

Thanks guys. Ya I try to do open faced sandwiches when I can, even if I make a mess of myself! I will go back to the regular loafs but I think I can mind myself till then end of this loaf as I don't want to waste it (though by the end my freezer might trash it partway through anyways, My freezer is the freezer burn king!)

Part of the reason I am going Victoria Secret is cause I've bought some cheaper stuff, especially leggings/pants, and they have been too thin (see through) or get holes really fast. So might as well buy quality and hopefully use it for a good while. And since workout gear is stretchy it should work for a while, won't buy a TON as I know I am getting smaller, but a few things to feel good in.

I am excited and nervous for my weigh in friday. I did an unofficial abdomen measurement the other day and I was down half an inch so I am hoping to see that scale move a good bit. And I have been really good this week! But you always have that worry (yes I know, measurements should mean more than weight but we all like to see the scale move!)

Hey Mystic - I like your idea of a Non-food reward for weight-loss ...and some new VS duds are such a postive idea - reward yourself for losing weight & reward yourself with looking/feeling good -

Win-Win !

:hat: Good luck for weigh-in day tomorrow ( less inches usually will mean a happy scale....unless - you've actually toned-up & maybe have bit more muscle gal.... lol...this weight-loss game is so funny eh ? )

maryann .

Agreed about non-food rewards. When I do my race, I'll be treating myself to a combo massage/accupuncture session. I've never had the latter, would like to see the results.

Bread is evil in that way, isn't it? I'm a sucker for those big-bread slices, like rye or sourdough. Nice and thick, with butter. But that's a pretty stunning calorie amount.

Anyway, keep up the good work, good luck on weigh-in day!

Thanks guys! Man, the snow is really coming down today. :( Hoping it doesn't stick around! It's been so hard not to weigh myself this week!! But I just remind myself that weighing myself everyday won't make me lose weight any faster!

Having a good day. I am gonna have a smoothie to finish off the day but ate well all day. Tomorrow is weigh in day and I am crossing my fingers! Today's workout was TORTURE!!! I don't know why but it was just SO hard on me! I almost wanted to give up and just relax today!! But I perserveered and got it done, though not my best bike. Crossing fingers for tomorrow!!!!!

Thanks! Almost half way there and 5.2 pounds away from the lightest I was last time I lost weight! Can't wait to surpass that.

Made Raspberry Scones today! Yummy! Supposed to be about 200 calories, but the recipe said it made 8 and I made 10 so I guess I made mine a bit smaller. Will count it as 200 anyways.

BTW, splurged on 2 of the scones even though I knew I was going out for my cheat meal today. Whoops. Oh well, tomorrow is another day!

Ya y Mystic !! Congrat's on making the 140's !!! Way to GO !! almost 1/2way to your goal.....great work !

& your rasp.scones look tooo yummy. ( ? is the recipe from luz's site ? or your own ? )

wishing you a great weekend gal

Maryann

Thanks guys.

The scones I made were based off a skinnytaste recipe. They were supposed to have fresh strawberries but all I had were frozen raspberries. However today was a REALLY BAD food day. I was ok having a cheat meal today and had planned for it. However I made those scones and of course really wanted to try one to see if they tasted ok. Which they did, so then I had another before going for supper. For supper I had Lobster Ravioli in a Cream Sauce with a MASSIVE garlic toast. Got home from the movie and just now finished off my 3rd scone!! Grr! Bad me. I would guess that I had about 2000 calories over what I should have a day. However tomorrows a new day and I can move on from there!! No more cheat meals this weekend, going to the gym both saturday and sunday. Should make up for most of my whoopsie today!

It's funny but I notice a lot of people have their worst cheats after a really good weigh in or making a goal. You'd think one would be extra motivated to keep that scale moving and yet a lot of people do badly right after a good result. Peeps be crazy!!
