At 22, I finally topped out at 275 (I'm 5'5") and was so uncomfortable in my own body, I decided I finally needed to do something concrete about it. I started exercising every day (stationary bike and Wii fit) and switched between low-cal diets and low-carb diets. I found both worked, and that switching between the two helped me not to get bored with them. I'm at 235 right now, and though I still have a ways to go, the difference in 40 pounds has been incredible.

Right now I'm doing a low-carb meal plan. I'm trying to keep at 20 net carbs or under. I'm not counting calories at all, but I'm making sure not to binge eat (which I definitely tend to struggle with).

My next goal is 225... I've been giving myself a reward each time I meet a goal. This reward is a pair of American Eagle jeans.. which I haven't been able to fit into since high school, since they only carry up to a size 18. Luckily the AE website was having a sale on jeans... Lol :)

I think the hardest thing is seeing my roommates sit and eat an enormous serving of something I love... like General's Chicken or pizza. Pretty much sucks.

Anyhow... that's all :)

Ahey. congrats on the progress so far. Keep up the good work. Having a goal like that is very helpful. If you think you can control yourself from having too much, feel free to have a piece of chicken or pizza, but keep your carb count in check, for the day. One piece isn't going to affect you.

Hey, congrats on your progress, your doing really well. Having a reward scheme is great motivation because it will keep you encourage to reach your goal. Watching other people eat the food you'd love to be eating is the worst it drives me crazy lol but nothing feels as good as stepping onto the scales and seeing the numbers go down! Keep up your good work :coolgleama:

Hey BrikD!! im close in age to you ( im 21) so i know how hard it is to live a young life being heavy. God it is tough isnt it? when all your friends are wearing the clothes you want, we are trying to hide our fat. Anywaaaaaaaaays enough with that. I just want to say how much of an amazing job you are doing!! Congrats on losing 40 pounds!! :hurray:

I would recommend counting calories from now on dude, because it totally keeps track of what is going into our mouth!! You'd be suprised you could be eating too much or scarier TOO less!! I know what you mean, i hate when i see my friends eating all the bad food and they havent one care in the world. All my friends are skinny!!

Keep up the fab work!! Cant wait to see your progress!!
