Hello Everyone - I'm glad I found this forum although I'm finding it a bit challenging to navigate. I hope to provide support and find support for myself as I go throught this journey. I'm truly looking forward to building up a great network with others.
In April I had my annual check up done and the results were awful. BP was high, liver enflamed, pre-diabetic, thyroid low, etc etc... I was devastated. I've battled my weight my entire life and have tried everything possible and all of this with constant working out and eating carefully and battling PCOS and migraines.
I left the doctor's office and was depressed for a few weeks. Didn't know what to do so I ended up going to see a bariatrics surgeon. We looked at options and I decided to get the sleeve. Within a week everything was scheduled and we decided to self pay since insurance won't cover it and financing was a joke! Even though I made that decision and my husband was very supportive I never felt in my gut that it was the right thing for me (I know it works wonders for many people). I went through a week of stress, depression, anxiety, name it!
On the morning of my pre-admission appointment I woke up with my infamous migraines and after dropping kids to school I had to pull over in a major panic and anxiety attack. I called my husband and told him that anything so good for me shouldn't make me so stressed. Without thinking I showed up at my primary care doctor and my BP was 205/160. She immediately treated me and let me lie down, relax and collect myself. I was a mess. After a lot of time she told me about a medical weightloss program she has and invited me to get an assessment done. That is the start of my journey and I think a turning point in my life.
More to come....
