:D Isn't it funny how the wrirdest things can spark competitive thinking? Very well done on those 2000 cals, that's a decent deficit for a grown man.

I think it is important that we set our own goals according to how we look or how we feel not according to some numbers that someone else made up. Only you know where you feel and look your best.

Exactly.

If I followed the BMI chart's recommendations I "should" weigh 159 lbs. I haven't weighed 159 lbs since the 6th grade. And, I wasn't fat. I was in shape. If I weighed 159 lbs I would look deathly sick (and probably feel the same way).

So, I agree - go with how you look and feel, not some BS numbers that other people have made up.

I agree that we should set our own targets. BMI is a crock. That is so funny brawny re the "old lady" on the treadmill. How old do you think she was?

Cate- I think maybe mid 60s lol

Weigh in is done
289.8
I have lost 22 lb since Aug 22
After putting up a 2 week fight, the 20lb barrier is smashed.
30 anyone?

By the way you guys are great. Thank you for your help. So far so good.

WELL DONE!
22lbs in 2 months :D
Awesome Brawny!
Re: the old lady on the treadmill. Hmmm..... mid 60's is old? :svengo:
You will SO change your mind about what is old with every decade that you live ;)
It's great seeing you back on track brawny! xo

You are right Cate! I remember thinking 30 was kinda old when I was in high school. My wife who is a physical therapist says that there are 60 year olds who are quite young and there are 60 year olds who are very old and knocking on deaths door.
I which one I want to be.
I turn 52 in November. How much more enjoyable will the next few years be if I get this done?
Walked 4.5 miles in 90 minutes yesterday. I got on the track and walked a lap in lanes 87654321 and then 12345678! Then a small warm down. Today I did 2.5 miles.
Oh yeah... I gotta punch a new hole in my belt!
Today at church two people noticed my loss!
It ain't nothin but persistence that's really all it is
Today is 69 days of 90 to 95% compliance???and that's getting it slowly done.

Goals for October
1.Exercise 25 out of 31 days Not putting a bike mileage goal because I hope to add some walking days in the nice cool fall weather.
If I exercise today I have met this goal
2. Stay below 1800 calories 28 out of 31 days
Nope didn't even come close but I did stay below 1800 for more than half of the days and stayed below 2300 every day except 2
3. No fast food at all
Did it
4. Drop 10-12 lbs...be in the 280s
Made it barely 289.8 I will weigh in in the morning because that weight was Friday. I might be a little lower by now
5. More outdoor activity in the cool fall weather
What cool fall weather? Late fall arrival here in Texas
6. Help people on here and accept help
Trying

Goals for November coming soon.

Ok here are my November Goals

1. Lose 8lbs (trying to be real here with Thanksgiving)
2. Exercise 24 out of 30 days
3. Log more bike and track miles than Oct (this will be hard cause I killed it in Oct)
4 Add stretching to my exercise routine (should already be doing this but I hate it)
5. Maintain my 1500-1800 calorie per day intake but try for about 25% Carbs, 25% Fat and %0% protein. ( I think that might increase my loss)
6. Drink one liter of water before noon every day

There they are
Lets have a good November
As we get to the end of the year we will see a lot of newbies with all the resolutions and what not. Most will be here a while and fall off after a bit. I don't want to be that person again. I want to fight all the way through this....this time it could be different

Hi Brawny,

All your goals look very achievable. I am sure you will exceed them all. I don't like stretching either but I know I have to do it. Not only that but I think I am going to take a yoga class or two. My flexibility SUCKS. I think the yoga will help it. Apparently yoga is quite common with runners. I didn't know that but with the strength that running builds up in the hamstrings it can make your legs too tight. Yoga helps to lengthen the muscle so flexibility should improve. I just don't know how I will look in yoga pants-LOL!!
