Perseverance & determination are two of my favourite words. Life will get back to normal brawny. I'm glad you're getting out & walking. Almost 20 lbs lost? Well done! More hugs from me too xoxo

Time to get positive again
Walked 13,500 steps yesterday
I surpassed my goal of 220,000 steps in October
I should be able to get 250,000 before the month ends.
I should be at the 20lb loss mark in a few days
I am 19lbs away from my 2014 low
I am 20lb away from being at a 20 year low
I am 49lb lower than I was in 2009 which was my heaviest (336) yuk, I hate even typing that.
I am 31lbs away from my goal of posting a 50lb loss by my oldest son's wedding June 9
Now it is simply time to string good days together.
Beautiful weather here in Texas today, sunny, breezy and 68 degrees
Lets go for a walk!

Always remember that statistically overweight people are likely to get heavier every year. And you didn´t just not gain weight, you´re lighter than you were 8 years ago. And you´ll be lighter still a year from now.

Got on scale this morning. Thursday is my usual weigh in day but I thought I might see progress so I took a peak this morning.
I have lost 21 lb
The 20lb mark is busted!
Got 10300 steps in yesterday and that was without going for an official walk. I had to go to my daughters volleyball game so I walked up and down the high school halls before and in between games

End of day report
Strung one more pretty good day on my life line
Nothing exciting but I got 11200 steps in and ate about 1600 calories so I was in the loss zone today.

I was gonna walk at least 3 miles on the track but after 2.25 miles....well....I had to poop...I rapidly determined that 2.25 was good enough for tonight. Lol

Well I guess that BM that interrupted my walk paid off.
Today is my official weigh in day.
283.6
That's exactly 22lb gone and .8 lower than yesterday!
Oh my, the things we talk about on here...LOL

End of day report
Fought through a business lunch at a really good Italian place today. I got a dish called chicken and veggies which was about the best choice on the menu. They were very good. Of course they were swimming in olive oil but I guess that's not terrible. I ate one roll which was way less than I normally would
I'm calling it a win

It was a win Brawny. Moderation is a very hard thing to learn. You are getting results & that sure helps :)

He enters and sets up a big mirror:
He contemplates his reflection:
He speaks:

"So I have been thinking about fat. Obviously at 6'1" and 283 I have quite a bit. But its where it resides on me that is what I have been thinking about. I was a college football player 30 years ago and then I continued to lift weights for like 15 years after that so I do have quite a bit of muscle mass left. Here is the deal. My legs are not fat. My arms are not fat. My butt is not fat. All my fat is on my torso and gut. Its like I am wearing a fat vest. I think that is often the case with males. And I think that's the worst kind in terms of heart disease and such. I must continue to take off this fat covering that is engulfing me.
I am not even sure what I should weigh. I was an athlete at 246 but I don't have that much muscle mass anymore and I don't want it. Those ideal weigh charts say I should weigh around 175 which isn't right either because I still carry a fair amount of muscle mass. My goal right now is 255 by June 9th because that's 50lb off by my oldest son's wedding day (22 down 28 to go). But realistically, That is only phase 1. I will have to decide what my ideal weight will be. I predict 195-220.
Its gonna take a while. But that is ok. I am heading out in a bit for a long walk. Then Im going to plan my menu for next week and also try to set my November goals. I have already surpassed my October goals both for exercise and for weight loss. I fully expect a slow down soon but that's ok as well."

He exits with a determined look on his face.....

Agree with all of that. And I think by the time you reach 220 lbs you´ll see how much fat is left in the danger zone. Then you can decide if you´re happy or if you need to get down further.

Did something today that I haven't done in a long time.
I walked 5 miles! I held up well for a 52 year old fat guy.
I have eaten about 1800 calories today so with that walk I should be in the loser zone.

The following will be my November mantra:

I am the Captain of my own ship.
I am the master of my own destiny!

Hi, Brawny. Thanks for stopping by my journal. I agree with you that the weight loss charts don't always make sense. One of the weight loss books I read -- it may have been You On A Diet by Dr. Oz -- suggests using waist circumference as a goal instead of pounds. Maybe that would work for you?
