Body Fat

Hi all.
Ive just bought some body fat calipers as I hear you all talking about body fat and I didnt know mine.
Apparently I am 29.6% is this bad?
What should I be aiming for?? Or what is concidered a good %

What should my body fat percentage be?

For Women

Essential Fat= 10-12%

Athletes= 14-20%

Fitness= 21-24%

Acceptable= 25-31%

Obese= 32% plus

____________________________________________

For Men

Essential Fat= 2-4%

Athletes= 6-13%

Fitness= 14-17%

Acceptable= 18-25%

Obese= 25% plus

*These numbers are according to The American Council on Exercise
 
Not too bad then, could do with dropping to 21-24%

But calculators should NOT be that far off. Calculators give you an estimate. Zah if I remember correctly, aren't you very very skinny?

What body fat calculator have you used? I don't believe I ever saw one. I have seen BMI, THR, CPD calculators but never a body fat % one. I'd be interested to see it myself and see how it compares to the real deal.
 
It is, I used to be skinny like that. All my friends were worrying sick about me, saying my bones were sticking out all over the place. I measured my bodyfat then and came out with a dazzeling number around the 10% area. Now I've gained a lot, I'm trying to lose some of it again and bulk up a bit. I wanna be lean and toned instead of bones and skin :)
 
That calculator is a good rough estimate. If you got a reading of 7%, then I think it's about right. Given your height, weight... I definitely think it's a good reading. Given all of your previous posts... I think that 7% reading is an accurate measure of your body fat.

You have no fat to lose. You are already at BARE minimum. Your body barely has anything there. Did you read that whole page? It says you are under the desired body fat %.

Get perspective on your body image. You are SEVERAL inches taller than me and you weigh LESS than me. And I am a friggin' nutritionist and personal trainer.
 
Zah Zah your going to end up in the the hospital. Your body CANNOT function properly without the proper nutrition. You worry me. Your vital organs cannot due their jobs without the right nutrients- you know this. We have disscussed it before. Please get some help..
 
Zah zah, what exactly is your goal?

If it's death, then I suggest you keep on going. You have a problem girl. You're addicted to losing weight. Hell, I know what it was like, I was obsessed with it myself. I bet you're cold all the time, lost your period, are tired all the time and cannot concentrate on things. Do you want to keep on feeling like that, or feel better? Please get help.
 
well I'm happy to hear you haven't reached the state of feeling like crap yet. But one question:

Let's say you fanally reach your desired weight, 110 lbs. Then what? Have you then reached true happiness? :confused:
