BikiniBound's Diary

The preg class went well. The nurse was really nice, although I don't think she told me much that I didn't already know since I've done so much reading on the subject already. I was pleased to hear that they don't normally do more than one ultrasound during the pregnancy (at 20weeks) unless they have good reason to do more. I have read that some studies suggest that too many US's can be bad for the baby. She said they can't induce until you're 41 weeks unless there is a medical reason to. I am happy to go 42 weeks without one, maybe longer. I've seen two inductions, and they were not pleasant affairs. They can also be dangerous to mother and baby.

Got a bunch of pamphlets and a book by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynocologists. I'll be interested to see if the info in it differs from what I've read thus far.

Tomorrow D and I are taking my niece and nephew to the beach for the day. That should be interesting..lol. They are aged 7 and almost 10. They are much fussier eaters than D and I are (we are not fussy at all), so I think they will drive me nuts in that aspect. They are used to eating pretty much nothing but shit at home, and call me the "vegetable aunt." :D Personally, I'd be ashamed if I fed my kids the crap that their parents do, but I keep my mouth shut (at least to them). :D Thankfully, they aren't overweight, although their mother is very much so.

Ugh. D and I are so sunburnt, it isn't funny. We used sunscreen, but apparently not enough, as we're both as red as lobsters, and in misery. :ack2: We've tried all sorts of things including aloe vera, vinegar, baking soda, etc. Nothing seems to help.

We had a lot of fun, though. The weather was gorgeous and Lake Michigan was perfect for swimming. The kids ate absolute rubbish, but whatever. :D

My appt with the nurse was fine. Had to give a blood and urine sample and an extensive family history. The chances of my OB being on call when I go into labor is 1 in 8, so that doesn't make me happy. I may just get a midwife after all. I want to be comfortable with the doc who delivers me, and not with some stranger.

Needless to say, I'm in far too much pain to exercise today. :ack2: My weight was 220.5 yesterday, and 223 today!! I didn't even eat a lot yesterday. Calories were 2,310, plus I walked 3.5 miles and swam a lot yesterday. I think it must be water retention and/or my sunburn causing the gain. :(

I burn all th etime like crazy in this weather...even when I re apply and were alot of screen.Stupid ozone layer, lol!I never use to burn.

Im glad to hear all went well with your appts...I say specialist through both pregnancies...With my first my doc handed me over to one from the beginning as he wasnt gonna be around at birthing time. With the second she was over due and by then my doc wasnt around, lol....It would be nice to have your baby birthed by the doc you have been seeing all along.

I'm sorry you are so sore from a sunburn. There could be so many reasons for the little bit of weight gain- I wouldnt be concerned with it. Take good care of that baby!!! lol. Are you going to find the gender? Or do u want to be surprised?

Cerella--the sunburns are still making us miserable--sleeping is the worst. Yeah, I like the idea of not having someone I've never met before delivering my baby.

Brandy--We prefer to be surprised. I'm old fashioned like that. :)

Weight went from 223 to 221.5 today, so improving. I'm sure it was water weight or caused by the sunburn.

I was gonna make a suggestion for your sun burn. Have you ever tried tea? Tea that is cold and strong...use a face cloth and apply to burn. It takes the heat out. My granny use to do this to me all the time with my many burns in the past...I reember it working well. I use it on the girls when needed!

That is one thing I haven't tried. There is plenty of tea in the house with D being an avid drinker of it. Will try it out today. Thanks! :)

I hope your sunburn is getting better Kim! When I get pregnant, I think I'd go crazy not knowing the gender!! LOL. Hugggs

I hate being sunburned!

I expected nothing else but intelligence when it came to your pregnancy--I commend your reading, Kimberly! I'd do the same thing, I'm currently reading books on running, training for rock climbing, boxing, and also a reader about spirit possession for the hell of it. Interesting stuff!

Too bad your niece and nephew have a bad atmosphere when it comes to food at their house. I feel lucky that my mom and grandparents all ate pretty healthy (albeit, too many animal products in my biased opinion :p). I've been on a salmon-over-veggies-or-baby-greens dinner kick. I feel smarter than I have in a long time! Omegas in the membrane! LOL

HUGS, mama

I am adamant about not wanting a nursery full of pink or blue, so that is one reason. The other is just liking the element of surprise--like my mother and grandmothers had. ;)

Valerie: You'll be proud of me, as we had salmon for lunch with grilled zucchini, summer squash, mushrooms and green onions. :D Should've invited you over, eh?

I can't imagine anyone being preggers and NOT reading up and educating themselves, but to each their own. Pregnancy and childbirth has always fascinated me, so I find it very interesting reading. :) I think you'd agree with me in saying ignorance is NOT bliss--especially for you when it comes to SF fetish festivals.

I am with ya on that one. I think not knowing is one of life's great last surprises. (But of course, each to his own). I was certain my first would be a boy . . . WRONG. And the second pregnancy was so different from the first I assumed it would be a boy . . . WRONG again! LOL

As far as the nursey went, I found a cute teddy bear border that had the cutest rolly polly bears in different colors, and then I painted the walls a mint green. For the 2nd baby, the walls were painted yellow and we did a Pooh Bear theme. Now, with 2 girls the walls are purple with fairies and unicorns LOL.

Sunburn SUX! We went on vacation a few weeks ago and went to a waterpark. I was so careful and made sure everyone lathered on the sunscreen. BY lunch I had us do it again . . but I forgot to get my back done.
I paid the price the next 6 days or so. We have some aloe spray, and it works . . for about 4 minutes. 8(

Have a great weekend!

I am sorry that you have been suffering from sunburn. I hope that you have found something to ease the pain. Have you tried witch hazel?

I am pleased that the appointment went well during the week. Sorry that I havent looked in on you for a few days.

It's funny how some mothers have an intuition (right or wrong) about the sex of their babies. My mom was certain I was a girl, and she was obviously right..lol. My gran, on the other hand, thought for sure her third was a girl, but then shortly before the birth, she had the same dream she'd had with her first two boys--that she was holding a baby boy with thick, dark hair. Sure enough, baby #3 was also a boy. My mom also thought my cousin was going to have a girl with her last baby, and once again was right. So far she doesn't have a feeling about mine, but I'm curious to see what she thinks as the pregnancy progresses. Maybe she has a gift..lol.

Yup, aloe vera seems to work for about 4 min. I tried the tea yesterday, and it didn't do too much. Tylenol seems to help the most.lol. Thankfully it something I can take. We are slightly better today. I still cannot wear a bra, so the twins have been bouncing about all weekend. :D

Haven't tried witch hazel. We are coping. Tonight I took a towel and soaked it in very cold water. Then draped it on my back. I think it helped a bit, seems to draw the heat out. We have started to peel as well. Oh the joy! :smilielol5:

Don't feel bad about not being around--I've been gone a lot, too.

I haven't weighed myself since Friday.

We went to my uncle's today to celebrate his and my mom's birthdays. As usual, the food was really good. The veggies in particular were very tasty--cauliflower, corn on the cob, mashed potatos, baked beans. I couldn't finish my bbq pork chop.

Been a very boring weekend, as D and I are too miserable to do anything but sit on our asses. :D

We are meant to close on our condo on Tuesday afternoon. :)

Tasty vegetables are always good. Lets face it - none of us would have developed weight problems if our natural tendency was to fill up on healthily cooked vegetables.

Not weighed since Friday!!! What has happened with my pal Kimberly!!! It must be the sunburn or the pregnancy - but I never thought that I would hear the day! I hope that you get round to hopping on those scales soon as those poor scales will not understand what is going on. Be more kind to your scales.

I'm pleased that you are coping with the sunburn and finding something to ease the pain. It is a shame that it has put a dampener on your weekend though.

So you will close on the condo on Tuesday. I presume that is the equivalent of our completion (when you basically hand over the remaining money - or at least the bank does on your behalf, get the keys and can move in). Things have certainly moved along quickly there. When do you plan on moving in?

Closing Tuesday, very exciting! My situation is still in limbo, it's getting real old! The sellers actually, finally accepted my offer with all inspections I desire. However, they are refusing to enter contract with a sale of my home contingency. Which sucks, b/c I need the equity out of my house to use for the down and closing costs.

They said if I have a buyer in hand, than they will draft agreements. But that seems risky to me, right? I mean, if I get a buyer in hand, then inspect the new house and it doesn't pass, I'm homeless, lol.

I'm assuming I could write into my contract that the sale of my home is dependent on the purchase of my new home.

I have to talk to my realtor today or tomorrow. But wanted to know if you had any advice.

Thanks Kimberly.

Well, you're in a bit of a bad spot..lol. I don't blame the sellers for saying that, though. They are just protecting their own interests, b/c if your offer is contingent upon you selling your home, it really isn't much of an offer in this market, kwim? There are thousands of would-be buyers out there if only they could sell their current homes. However, I see your point as well, as this is the only house you want. I would definitely sell your house on the contigency of buying the other one. Perhaps the sellers would be willing to give you a 30-60 day period for you to get your house sold. Are you going to do inspections before or after you sell your house? In this situation, you should definitely get them done soon imo so that you'll know right away whether or not you want the house. Here in Michigan you have 10 days to do them once an agreement is reached anyway. Not sure if it's the same in PA. See, these issues are why you should have a buyer's agent. That agent is getting paid double, without doing double the work, really. Definitely talk to her and see if she has a solution to your dilemma. :)

Me either... I certainly understand.

I would definitely sell your house on the contigency of buying the other one.

So this is possible? I was hoping that was the case. I'm sure it doesn't make the sale of my home attractive but there's not much more I can do unless I do some sort of bridge loan and that's not something I want.

Are you going to do inspections before or after you sell your house?

I'm not sure at all.

If I do it before I sell my house, that means I could by paying for inspection and could still lose the house to another buyer, since they sellers are not willing to wait for me to sell my house.

Doesn't this sort of lock me into getting inspected after I sell my house?

In this situation, you should definitely get them done soon imo so that you'll know right away whether or not you want the house.

I agree. Quite the pickle, lol.

I won't say those veggies were healthily cooked..lol. I'm pretty sure there was a lot of butter and cheese involved. :blush5:

The reason for not weighing is mainly due to the sunburn. Another reason is I know I won't get an accurate reading b/c I've been getting up every 2-4hrs to pee and change positions, and when I do, I drink some water b/c I'm thirsty. Therefore, the water drunk during the night would affect my weight in the morning, b/c I normally don't drink anything during the night. Today I am trying to drink 112oz of water befor 9pm tonight. That way I should be hydrated enough that I won't need to drink in the middle of the night. :)

This morning I had D roll ice cubes on my aching shoulders..lol. It cooled them off temporarily. Last night was rather painful sleeping. :cuss:

We'll move into the condo as soon as we get the work done on the main level. I figure that'll be 2-3 weeks. Then we'll have to buy some furniture b/c atm all we have is a bed and two dressers. :D Some might say that's all we need. :p
