BikiniBound's Diary

Plenty of clouds in the sky here - although it was a nice day today weatherwise. I didnt need a sweatshirt or kagoule for my walk - but had them in my bag. Had the sweatshirt on for a couple of the afternoon laps.

Yesterday was much the same except that I needed the sweatshirt at the rugby in the afternoon. My sister-in-law didnt have a sweatshirt - so she acquired her husbands jacket for the main of the game. It rained in the evening.

Just thought that a little weather report might come in useful for last minute checks at the packing.

Well done for getting in the walk / jog. I cannot do 4 miles in 56 minutes - so you will have to go slower when walking with me.

Well done also for avoiding the fattening food.

I checked the weather forecast, and it says temps between 64-72F which is very pleasant to me. W-Th look like light rain, but the rest is supposed to be partly cloudy. Of course I realize that London weather is much like in Michigan--subject to change at whim. :D

I have no desire to walk that fast whilst out sightseeing--have no fear. ;) H wouldn't cooperate even if I did want to go that fast. He likes a stroll..lol.

Brandy--Thanks for the well wishes! I'm sure your baking/cooking abilities are quite good. I, however, do not care who makes it, as long as it looks good..lol. There is a box of muffins sitting on the kitchen counter that has been tempting me all night. :cuss: So far, I've resisted. If I give in, it'll put my cals at 2,000 for the day. Soooo, I SHALL resist! :D

Getting laundry done so I can get packed. I always wait until the last minute to pack. At least I'm not doing it tomorrow morning. :D

Hi Bikini,

Just got started myself and joined the site in hopes of finding someone more inspiring than my fair-weather walking buddies. It's been amazing to see how much some of you guys have lost! (you, Omega, many others)

Looks like we're a few pounds away from each other with regard to how much we want to lose. I feel like I'm jumping in halfway through your marathon but I'll do my best to keep up!

Thanks for being an inspiration.

Wow! I actually had a really good weekend food/exercise-wise! :hurray:

I am pretty much packed. Just a few minor things to do in the morning. :hurray:

I will try to log on here one last time before leaving. If not, best wishes while I'm gone, and I will probably get on here a few times while in the UK.

belatedvoyage--Thanks for stopping by! Fair weather walking buddies aren't much help to you if they aren't serious..lol. I have found this forum to be just what I needed. I've made some great friends here. In fact, Margaret (Omega) and I are meeting up on Thursday. She lives outside of London, and I live in Michigan. Never would've met such a wonderful person (or Bellaryna either) if it weren't for this forum. :) Good luck in your weight loss. Just remember that consistancy is key. If you have a bad day, just climb back on the horse the next day. Don't let it discourage you. :)

I am so looking forward to Thursday. Coincidentally - it is only through this forum that I could meet Kimberly too! Words cannot describe the role that this forum has paid in my own weight loss project - it is so central to my success.

Jo (Belatedvoyage) - Kimberly is right about consistancy. Both exercise and food control are vital - and aim to do both regularly as a form of habit (every day if possible). Walking is a great form of exercise - dont let people tell you that it has to be done quickly to count! It always counts - just it counts more if you can do it for a longer time or more quickly. When I first started I did things slowly but it had a huge impact. If you have a bad day - it is important to forgive yourself immediately. Dont beat yourself up over it as that is sure to make you have another bad day - or worse still - give up on the whole idea! Good luck!

Just stopping by to say hello! I too have upped my walking and take Finnegan (my dog) for a few walks a week in the evening when its cooler out. I think I mentioned it before, but I have some Scottish heritage from my Grandmothers side - MacMillen Clan but doubt any nobility there. My Dad played the bagpipes, and in his memory, hope to start taking lessons in the fall.

keep up the good work!

Hi everyone!

Just a quick goodbye before I head out! Next time I get online it'll be from London. :D Weight was 217.5 today, so not down to 216.5 like I'd hoped. Oh well. Got on the bike for 20min this morning.

Margaret--I'll give you a ring when we get in tomorrow. :)

:waving:

Have a great time! 1 pound away from your goal isn't bad...actually is pretty good! Have a great time. Take lots of pictures!

Have a safe journey. We'll chat tomorrow.

Well done for getting on the bike.

Let me know how London was! I have family there - my grandmother's originally from Southhampton. Stubborn weight partly due to British genes? My other side's Irish... hmm...

A post to let you know we've arrived. Had a terrible plane ride there, as there were 2 crying babies most of the way. :banghead: Don't know what the one's problem was, as we could only hear it, not see it..lol. The other was right across from us traveling with his inept mother and grandmother. They decided to take a 13month old on a 9hr trip with nothing to occupy it. Brought no toys or anything--not even food. You cannot expect an adult to sit still for that length of time with nothing to do much less a baby. Dumbasses!! It was all I could do not to tell them that. H thought I was gonna get into it with them..lmao. What kind of person does he think I am? :smilielol5:

Arrived at our hotel at 9:30 am yesterday, but couldn't check in until 2pm. So we went to the Tower of London and had a great time there. Beautiful weather yesterday--sunny and high 60s. Today is cloudy and windy, low-mid 60s. Went to Westminster Abbey and the Tate Gallery today. Saw Big Ben and Houses of Parliament, and will go inside them later today. Stopped in this internet cafe on our way to Buckingham Palace. Our hotel room is really good--clean, nice bathroom, and they serve a very hearty continental breakfast. Can't believe we got all that for $72 a night!! :svengo: Had really good Indian take away food last night--H had lamb, I had butter chicken. All for only £3.50 ($7) a piece. Whatta deal! :drool5:

I thoroughly enjoyed our day out yesterday. Looking forward to Sunday!

We certainly covered some good mileage - my pedometer ended the day with the highest stepcount for a few months!

Hey Kimberley, hope you're having a fabulous time in England. I'll make sure to check in to see how the trip is going. Have lots of fun!

hey everyone!
the shift key on this internet cafe computer sucks ass, so i will not be using it this post..lol.

currently on oxford st. h and i are pooped from all the walking with margaret yesterday..surprise surprise. :biggrinjester: as you all know--that woman can WALK! i think the total mileage for us yesterday was around 13 miles. Margaret is fantastic--as we already knew. :) H was very impressed by her and thought she was very nice--which she is. :biggrinjester:

Margaret--we had a great time with you, too. :) H's legs are sore today from all the walking we've done the last few days. My feet are a bit sore. we aren't walking nearly as much today..lol. i'd say we'll get in less than 10miles today. :biggrinjester:

Had dinner at a pub. H had bangers and mash, and i had a chicken pasta. Margaret brought along a tasty, healthy lunch for us so we had plenty of calories to spare for dinner. I think i ate less than 2,000 yesterday.

we walked with margaret in hyde park and kensington gardens, all around the victoria and albert museum, and another one as well.

today we went to the national gallery and looked at tons of paintings from the 12th-19th centuries. Then ate sandwiches in trafalgar sq, went to speaker's corner in hyde park. Then to grosvenor sq, and now on oxford st. still thinking about getting a cell phone..lol. i'm keeping my eyes out for a virgin cell phone shop. heading to the national portrait gallery soon.

i'm certainly not lacking for exercise this week..lol. The eating has been so-so. but since i've been walking so much, i think i can afford a few extra calories. :D

thanks everyone for stopping by and listening to me babble..hahah. h loves it here, and now understands why i often go on and on about how wonderful it is. we both just love all the architecture. so beautiful. london has some of the world's best parks and museums as well.

ttyl :D

I hope that with the walking and everything you got a decent night's sleep.

You can still get in a decent walk and keep to under 10 miles!:)

It is great that your calories were so low yesterday - if you eat like that all holiday and keep up the walking you will get a great weightloss for when you get home. You are right - if you do a decent amount of walking it can counteract days of so-so calories. You know how often I just assume that if I eat healthy stuff the calories will take care of themselves because I havent wanted to count them and play a numbers game where I may feel a failure.

I have to add that I thought that your husband was really sweet. He didnt seem to mind when you told him to go off and do his own thing at the V & A because we were going to spend ages in the fashion area.

Hi Kimberly,

Sounds like you are having a great trip! Good to hear you are getting all that exercise walking around to see the sights! Have fun,

Look at this, I'm gone for a while only to find out you're with Margaret in LONDON, of all places. You've no idea how much I envy you right now. Not only are you with one of the sweetest people in the world, you're in an amazingly beautiful city.

I'm glad you're having such a great time over there, Kimmy!! I will certianly say that you can afford the extra calories. I trust that Marg will keep you busy with cardio, that woman is a wonderful machine!! LOL.

74 dollars a night, NO WAY!! That's amazing!! Heck, we can't get a hotel that good here in the states for 74 dollars a night!!! And that doesn't even include a well-stocked breakfast-usually it's just bagels and cereal. You've got yourself quite a deal over there!!

I hope the rest of you trip is as enjoyable as it has been so far!! Big hugs to you, honey!! ((((Hugs))))
