BikiniBound's Diary

Hi Kimberly

I am so sorry that your throat is so bad. I swear that our NHS doctors always, always, always seem to write out a prescription for amoxycillin for that type of thing. You walk in to the quack's and you know fine well what she/he is going to write on the prescription. The stupid thing is that the stuff is dirt cheap wholesale but you need a prescription to get it over here. I am sorry that it looks like it will cost you to get it.

It doesnt cost us much (about £7 which is a set fee for any prescribed drugs so they make a profit on amoxycillin) - but we do have to pay our (mandatory) national insurance contributions which is effectively an extra tax. We pay about 10% of salary and employers pay about the same. A lot of people pay extra for private health insurance but we dont because it is expensive.

It sounds really good news that you will get covered by your hubby's health insurance in the future.

I hope that you are feeling much better very soon.

Take care
Love

Poor thing.

I hope you'll get well soon and BEFORE C-MAS!

It really stinks to be ill at C-Mas! Has happened to me several times and I was home alone.

{I made hubby/son go be w/the family. Not fair to them to miss out bc I'm sick.}

GET WELL SOON! :grouphug:

Last night I couldn't get to sleep because when I lay down, that's when the hacking gets really bad. So I finally got to sleep around 5:30 am only to wake up 2hrs later in a coughing fit so bad that I was gasping for air. That scared the helll out of me, thinking I might have pneumonia. So I broke down and went to the doctor. My lungs are clear and sound good-no pneumonia. The doctor was surprised. They took a strep culture and that came back negative--so the sore throat isn't strep. She said antibiotics won't do anything, so there's no point in prescribing them. Instead she wrote a script for cough medicine with codein to knock me out--it did. :D So I slept all afternoon. My cough isn't bad now that I'm upright. But as soon as I lay down, it starts up. My throat is much better than last night. I think it's just a bit raw from all the coughing. :ack2:

I didn't weigh myself today, but when they did at the doc's it was 229 with clothes and shoes on. :ack2:

While I was waiting for my script to be filled I did some Christmas and grocery shopping--and got some people off the list.

So far today I've had 3 choc chip cookies my mom made, a bit of the dough, 2 small bowls of chili, 4 clementine oranges and a bit of tuna.

I hate it when docs just automatically give you antibiotics for everything. Taking too many of them weakens one's immune system. But often patients come in demanding them. It's stupid when for some things they don't even help. Unless there is an infection--i.e. strep or pneumonia, they're not gonna help.

Thanks dear. I hope I shake this before Christmas, or I'll be pissed...lol. :reddevil:

Ok, I lost track of the choc chip cookies. :D Oh well, considering I didn't eat much else today I think I'm ok. I didn't exercise, either. This means I'll have to spend 1hr 40min exercising Friday in order to get all my challenge pts. I'm thinking an hour at the gym and 40 min on the bike. :ack2:

I've hardly coughed tonight--up until about 1hr ago. I took my cough medicine like a good girl and I'm gonna try to get to bed soon. I hope the coughing doesn't get bad. :willy_nilly:

Hi

I am pleased that you went to see the doctor and that she checked you out properly. After so many poor nights' sleep you will benefit from being knocked out.

I really hope that you are feeling better soon.

Dont worry too much about the challenge - it is just a game and when you are ill there are things that you cannot do. Dont try to do exercise unless you really feel that you are up to it. I swear that I would say this if you were on my team. I am not just trying to sabotage your team.

Take care

WHISKEY AND HONEY IS THE WAY TO GO!!!!

WHISKEY AND HONEY IS THE WAY TO GO!!!!

haha I'm not surprised to hear you say that...heehee:biggrinjester:

Glad to see you around again.

MidGaGuy: No getting drunk on the cough medicine ok!

Don't worry, I'm already drunk on the whiskey. :biggrinjester:

Well, our team needs as many pts as we can get if we're gonna beat your team--or Paul's for that matter. Don't worry, I won't kill myself to get them, though..lol

Well, for some reason the cough medicine didn't make me sleepy last night. I went to bed around 3:30, but didn't get to sleep until 7am!!! H and I were wide awake at 4:30, so we had a little fun before he went to work. *wink wink* Anyway, my sleeping is all messed up now. I might as well get a job working the graveyard shift. :D Well, I got up just before 2pm today, so I didn't get in 8hrs. I'm hoping to get to bed at a decent hour tonight--I'll settle for 3am...hahaha.

Weight was 224.5 today--not too surprising after eating all those cookies. :blush5:

Hey Star :). I'm trying to figure out if I should just log my Holiday Challenge weigh-in today rather than tomorrow. Today I think I'm down 1/2 lb from last week but I dunno about tomorrow. I just ordered Mexican food which was delivered within about 5 minutes (we thought it was UPS because they seemed to arrive seconds after I ordered) I got a plate of rice/beans/chicken w/ jack cheese and a small flan. Mmmm. A lot of sodium probably, right? Why risk it for tomorrow even though I got in 1.5 hrs of exercise today (that's a record for me). What would ya do?

While you're waiting for my before current pics, I thought I'd give you some pussy pics to tide your over. :D

The striped cat is Dominick, but everyone calls him the Dommer. He's my wittle baby. The black cat is Shadow. He's my little darling that died in August. I'm tearing up just thinking about him.

I would post your weigh in of today and enjoy your Mexican--food that is. :biggrinjester:

Awwww precious kitties!

I know how important cats can be (dogs I'm sure, but I never had a dog before), my cat Oliver stayed in bed with me this morning cause I wasn't feeling so great. His breath stank, though--did you know cats have morning breath too? :) I went to kiss his face, and he yawned, and WHooo!! WHat a stench!

They're beautiful cats Kimberly. I love cats myself, such sweet affectionate animals really. Kitty haters have no idea! Awww, I lost my baby dog this summer too and I still cry over it. So sad to lose them.

Exercise this week:
12/10—None, weight: 223 (new low)
12/11—None, weight: 222.5 (new low)
12/12—60 min circuit training, weight: 223.5
12/13—None
12/14—40 min circuit training, 1hr exercise bike, 19.3 miles, weight: 224.5

Friday food totals: 1,644 calories, 50g fat 28%, 171g net carbs 42%, 120g protein 30%, 24g fiber

Whew! I had to exercise for 1hr 40min today in order to get all my challenge pts. I did it--but those last 10min on the bike were very tough. I watched the Biggest Loser for inspiration while I biked. :biggrinjester:

Tammy, Val and Claudia--it's amazing how our pets become part of the family, isn't it? I was just heartbroken when Shadow died, and I will be again when the Dommer finally does. But I hope that's a long while off. :) Yeah, Val, I knew that. The vet says it's plaque on their teeth. There is this solution you can buy at the store that you put in their water (it's tasteless) to help with the plaque. Also, some cat treats are good for that as well. Just make sure they're crunchy as opposed to chewy treats. Or you can spend several hundred dollars at the kitty dentist getting their teeth cleaned--I think not..lmao. But just like human health, feline teeth condition affects their overall health. Dommer sleeps with me a lot. His favorite position is to sleep on my head, atop my pillow. :D He also like to "knead" pillows with his paws. He'll stand there for ages doing that. I joke that I'm gonna get him a job at a bakery kneading dough..lmao. Hey, he's got to earn his keep. :biggrinjester:

Tammy--you have 4 kids. I don't expect you to hit my diary everyday, but I appreciate it when you do. :)

I think I have solved my sleeping pattern problem. My H got some sleeping pills over the summer to help him adjust to the time difference while he was in Australia. They are the generic for Ambien. He said half of one does the trick, so I've got half of one I'm gonna take around 1 am tonight. I've got to get my sleeping patterns back to normal. This getting to bed at 5 and 7 am isn't cutting it. Don't worry peeps, I'm not gonna make a nightly habit of this--just a night or two until I can get to sleep at a decent hour.

Ahh...the Pistons just won. :D

My kitty baby is being completely obnoxious today. I told him I am putting him up on craigslist. He ignored me, though, because he knows I love him too much to actually do it.
