So I'm driving this afternoon with my kids in the truck and my daughter says there goes three dump trucks . My normal first reaction was in my best Butthead voice heh heh you said "dump" Then I realized what I said and thought about my wonderful forum dumpers! I read the article and I've seen themes like the high protein/fat diets in lots of other magazines. Seems like there's something to it, though I'm not clear from this one whether you're losing weight because you're eating less calories overall (as she even says if you want to lose weight you'll need to cut back on the calories) or because of this eating pattern.

Something possibly related is my doctor has told me a few times that I should try his diet of eating either fat/protein or carbs (with some fat), but not in combination. So if I have a roll then I shouldn't mix any protein with it. Have a meal with just fat and protein at least two hours before or after a carb meal. I dunno about this at all, but he sure seems convinced and he's told me of patients that lost weight on this program. I dont think I could ever keep it up though.

8/20--40min circuit training
8/21--3mile walk with IT in 45min

Food for Today:
meal#1--strawberries with cottage cheese
meal#2--low-carb protein shake
meal#3--turkey sausage with 3 scrambled eggs
meal#4--.5oz of cheese, small bowl of watermelon
meal#5--broccoli, cooked cabbage with bits of ham
meal#6--bowl of jello
19 net carbs (under 30, so making up for yesterday)

All of this looks wonderful as usual:) Do you have another weigh in coming up?!?

I wasn't feeling all that hot today. I slept for about 6hrs last night, and then this afternoon I came home from the office and slept for about 2-3more hours. I was just tired. Guess my body needed it. I was feeling a little down today--think I'm kinda depressed about things--life and marriage. Everything's just so unsettled at the moment.

I soo didn't feel like exercising today, but I forced myself to get my lazy ass out there and work it. I knew I'd feel better if I did, and I did..lol.:)

My eating today was very under control--for the first time in several days. I just wasn't that hungry. I haven't lost any weight since my weigh in last Wednesday. In fact, I was up 3.5lbs from my lowest this am. So I'm hoping that tomorrow I will fare better.

Don't worry... be happy!!... I used to say that to my mommy when she was sick and pregnant wiht my little bro. You're doing great. You'll be down in your next weigh in. :hug2:

I'm thinking about trying your diet from the article. I didn't understand how you're supposed to figure out when you've gone through the initial phase before you can start the protein/carb cycling. How long did you go on the protein/fat before you introduced the carbs? Also, on the carb days are you supposed to eat protein too? How many cals are you doing on the carb days because I would think eating any amount desired wouldn't be too good either?

Meal#5—handful of peanuts, bowl of sugar-free jello (2g)
Meal#6—bacon ranch salad from McDonald’s w/ balsamic vinaigrette (290 calories) 9g of carbs
24g of total carbs

Food for Thursday:
meal#1--double cheeseburger, McChicken sandwich (w/out the buns)
meal#2--peanut butter chip cookie
meal#3--chicken veggie stirfry, side salad
meal#4--sausage, veggie egg scramble

Ok!! You may wonder why you haven't seen me in awhile. That would be b/c our fackin' power went out yet AGAIN!!!! Last night I pulled into the driveway, just returning from my gym, so I was all hot and sweaty. It had been 90 degrees that day. Just as I pulled in the driveway, the power went out. And as we have a well, that means no shower for me!!! Luckily the storm that knocked out the power also cooled things down so it was in the low 70s by then. After sitting around the house bored for awhile, my H and I decided to go to my office so that we could at least be entertained online..lol. I had a brilliant idea to stop by McDonald's to get a bite to eat first. So we did. Just as we were pulling into my office, a nasty ass storm broke--thunder and lightning like crazy, windy as hell, and raining like a mutha. I got online for about 10 minutes (the lights flickering on and off the whole time) before the power at my office went out. But not before I managed to brew a pot of coffee. So H and I sat in the semi dark drinking coffee and chatting for a couple of hours. Power was still out, so we went home. Power still out there. Went to bed, but couldn't sleep. The power company's automated phone system and one of their useless lackies said power wouldn't be restored until probably midnight tonight--not what I wanted to hear. So I laid in bed cursing Consumers Energy until I cursed myself to sleep..haha. That was about 2am.

Slept on and off until 11 am. Power still out. Grr..I had a 3pm appt w/ the counsellor by myself. And our marriage counsellor's secretary called at 8:30am to tell H that counsellor was ill, and need to reschedule. H was thrilled to be off the hook, and didn't set up another appt. much to my annoyance. Says he will do it in person tomorrow b/c he has to go by there anyway. We'll see.

Decided I couldn't take not having a shower any longer. Called my girlfriend to see if I could use hers--couldn't get a hold of her. Took my mom into McD's to get lunch. Dropped her off back home and went to office where power was out again. It came on during hte night, then went off again late morning. Disgruntled that still can't get online, but I at least was able to take a shower. My office is in a building that used to be a house, so one of the bathrooms has a shower. Another agent in my office was there, and said that he took a bath here earlier..lol. Lots of my co-workers were without power.

Felt much better after shower, and went to my 3pm appt. Waited in waiting room until 3:10--counsellor hadn't called me back, which was strange. Turns out the appt was at 6pm, not 3. So now I'm really pissed, b/c I have to come back later. So take my gran to late lunch and drop her off at bingo (she was thrilled b/c she thought it was cancelled). Then drove back to my office where I was pleased to be able to take a dump (for Jenna, Rena, and Sheryl). Power still out. Drove to my 6pm appt. and bitched for an hour...:rotflmao: bitched about everything and everyone. I was in a shitty as hell mood.

Met H at a restaurant for dinner. H was starving, and food took 45 minutes to arrive from the time we sat down. H was pissed, but felt better after having stuffed his gut. He told me that the elec co trucks were on our road near our house when he left to meet me. I was thrilled--hoping power might be on when we got hom. Ha! It wasn't. About 30min later the trucks were right outside our house. I went out and talked to one of the guys who just happened to be hot as hell! Woohoo. Damn he was cute!!:drooling: :drooling: :drooling: I flirted shamelessly with him (no, imagine that! Kimberly flirting shamelessly?? NEVER!:rotflmao: :rotflmao: ) and was as sweet as could be, asking my questions. He said our road was a mess, and they were trying to locate the problem. Once they found that, he said it shouldn't take them long to fix it, but the hard part was trying to find the problem--especially in the dark.

So I went back inside and reported my findings. H and I then took off to my office so that he can have a shower. And so here we are. Office power is back on--but not ours. Hopefully tonight yet. They changed the restoration update from midnight tonight to 4pm Friday!! Bastards. That better not be the case.

So anyway, that's why I've been MIA. Our power's been off for over 26hrs. Hope the rest of you have had a better time!!

I'm thinking about trying your diet from the article. I didn't understand how you're supposed to figure out when you've gone through the initial phase before you can start the protein/carb cycling. How long did you go on the protein/fat before you introduced the carbs? I am not completely sure about that. It sounds like a minimum of 10days. I am going to do it until next Friday--that's 12days. Then I'm carb loading that weekend.

Also, on the carb days are you supposed to eat protein too? I believe you can eat whatever the hell you want on the weekends.

How many cals are you doing on the carb days because I would think eating any amount desired wouldn't be too good either?
According to the article, you can eat until you're full. There is no calorie counting from what I gathered.

I was bad with the carbs today--that damn cookie alone put me over. Then my scramble came with homemade toast and hashbrowns. Dammit--I ate it. So I'm scared to death to weigh in tomorrow!! But I probably will anyway b/c I can't stand not knowing. Also, b/c I still have no shower at home, I didn't exercise today. Doesn bitching and cursing oneself to sleep count as exercise?? :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
 
That sucks about the power going out hopefully it gets fixed sooner that later. Has the weather stayed cool at least?

Thanks for the sympathy! It was 88and humid as hell out today. But now it's 70--so at least sleeping tonight will be tolerable if power isn't on soon.

At least 70's isn't so bad. We used to live in Miami and it takes them forever sometimes to fix the power after a hurricane so I feel for you. I think last time was Katrina and we were taking cold showers for weeks, lol. You can use the office shower though right? Thank goodness for that!
 
You poor thing! That absolutely sucks and seems quite unacceptable for the power to be out for friggin all that time (good looking work men or not :D). I would've been a lot sweeter to a fine work man too. That woulda calmed me right down and saved me from bitching to them and embarrassing myself. Funny how sweet you can turn when a fine guy comes along LOL :rolleyes:.

The article said that you should start out just trying to get the cycling down but that if you want to lose weight (yeah, like who doesn't!) then you should tone it down with the calories a bit later on. But the article recommended trying to use the protein days to cut your cals since it controls your appetite. But all of this was a bit unclear to me.

I believe you caved with the hash browns and toast because the power thing really threw you off completely. Its hard to stick to this low carb thing when you're all out of wack (and sweaty). I know I could not keep up the low carb thing for more than 5 days max, so I think I'll start monday with the low carb and then eat what I want, somewhat within reason, next weekend. So you're my unwitting diet buddy since you got me into the diet :rolleyes:. I'll keep you posted when I start and let's see if I can lose some of this weight that I'm steadily re-putting on.

I really truly hope you get your power back on ASAP!

I'm just stopping in to say hi! I hope you get your power back on soon. Here in CT we don't get too many "weather related" power issues, so when we do get one that goes on for days it's a royal pain in the butt.

I feel for you.

Last time we got one was 10 years ago it knocked power out at the office. So we couldn't work for a couple of days (Yay!) On the second day, the Boss drives over to ask me to come in anyway to work on a project. It's dark in the engineering office even with all the windows, so he literally holds a flashlight over my shoulder so I can see my drawing board (pre CAD) to draw! Next day he goes out and buys a 30 kW generator.

I hope things are fixed soon and don't worry too much about the hash browns!

So your power has still been out on ya. And here I figured you were just busy off doing alot of horseback riding :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

I hope the hot electric company guys get you all straightened out so you can get back to your normal routine. Don't stress on your extra indulgences with the hash browns or cookies. Chalk it up to being the power companies fault!:hug2: :hug2:
 
You're hilarious! Where the heck r ya? No doubt sweating in your air conditionless house. If you dont get back on here quick I'm going to sue the electric company. I'm starting your damn diet today rather than monday and I have no one to commiserate about it. So far I've had a western omelette and order of bacon..yum.
