BikiniBound's Diary

Kim Doll,

MERRY CHRISTMAS

:party::party::party:

We both hope that you are having a great day.

Sorry that you havent been able to move into your own place - but am pleased to hear that you have been staying indoors as much as possible. I dont want you to risk falling.

Thanks for the christmas card. It arrived yesterday (Christmas Eve) a couple of hours before we left for Newcastle.

Hope you had a fantastic christmas! Sorry you can't move in yet, I hope the weather improves next week so you can.

Also, I'll be on vacation until the 5th so give me a call if you want, I'll be around! Or just send me your number via PM and I'll ring ya next week!

Our weather has been so crazy. Yesterday the GR airport reached 60F! Which is normally welcomed (and extremely rare for late Dec), but when you've got 3ft of snow on the ground and it rains in addition--can you say flooding? We are currently living on an island with streams running on all sides of us..lol. They've had to close roads b/c of flooding--some with as much as 3ft of water. Now the temps dipped back below freezing, so I wonder what that's gonna do to all that water. And we have a high wind warning today with gusts up to 40mph. I can hear it blowing hard while I type.

So last night David and I had just left the store with the car full of stuff for the condo we'd just bought and were heading there to drop it off, when we hit a MASSIVE pothole that popped off two hubcaps and gave us a flat tire (and who knows what other internal damage). David managed to find the hubcaps (it was dark), and he stuck his hand in the pothole to measure it--was as deep as his wrist, so about 8in deep! While he was doing that, he saw several other cars hit it and pull off to inspect the damage. We had to get our car towed and my dad came and picked us up. It was raining pretty hard the whole time, too. On the way home we passed by the pothole again and saw a couple of cars also getting tows. We have been told that the city will probably reimburse us for the damage. *keeps fingers crossed* That's another downside to sudden heat after such cold weather--potholes! :ack2:

And to add to the lovely day..lmao...we had to go to my aunt's house for a xmas gathering earlier that afternoon. This aunt is the worst housekeeper ever. Her house is so gross, I won't eat anything made in it (which is too bad b/c she's actually a good cook) b/c I don't know what's in it--usually hair, though one never knows if it's human, feline or canine hair. :ack2: When we walked in, it reaked of cat urine. It was as bad as some of the vacant foreclosures I've been in. She has a huge black lab and 5 cats and you can tell. When we got home I washed my hands twice, threw all my clothes (including my coat) into the washer and David's too. Then I took a shower to defumagate. :D She gave us a huge plate of cookies she made, but I don't dare eat them. :puke: It's really too bad, b/c she is a really nice person, and even gave me some nice gifts for the baby (although the box they came in was filthy!). I will be scouring everything before use, you can be sure. ;) REally, one should wear a bio-hazard suit when going into her house. I also made sure not to drink a lot before we went there b/c I did NOT want to have to use her bathroom!! I have a really funny story of when David first met her and her family that I'll share with y'all later. :D

That pothole incident is a lot to take. How upsetting to be out there in that weather and have your car ruined, I hope you get it covered by the city. Your poor aunt, does she have some sort of hording or other type of condition or is she just oblivious to dirt? Families have all kinds..

Hope you and the baby are feeling well. Are you taking DHA and AHA supplements (derived from fish oils) for the baby's brain and eye development? I took this supplement while I was pregnant and breast feeding, and have given it to the baby basically since birth through the DHA supplemented formula (most brands have it) and baby supplements. My baby knew the whole alphabet and counted at 18 months and now she has such an amazing memory for anything she's learned so I would say there's a good possibility it really is very helpful for development.

So, what in the world is late-night late-sleeping BB doing up this early on a Sunday??

I took those supplements as well and Bella too was counting and knew the alphabet at 18 months. It must work because I sure as hell wasn't counting at that age!

Sorry to hear about your car, I'd be pissed if that happened to us.

Gotta love the MidWest!!! LOL! We too hit 62 degrees!! WTF?? Same for Pot Holes here.... I don't know about 8" though!!! Flooding.... yep, sounds familiar. I have a 2 acre pond..... it's almost 3 now! :D I hope things get better for you!!! And hey, we always have the Lions!! :D

Yikes. Hopefully you, David and baby are doing well. I was just watching the news and when I heard that NY hit ~69 degrees yesterday, I laughed and thought, "muahahahaaa... may the floods destroy the house that Sean now owns by himself." Damn... I didn't mean for it to hit the Midwest also! Sheesh... Anyways, love you, doll. Stay safe and hopefully the city will cover your vehicle damage!

Good grief! You tell me this when I'm 6 1/2 months along? No, I'm not taking anything beyond the pre-natal and extra multi-vitamin for extra calcium and iron. David and I are both pretty intelligent, though, so I think our baby will be ok. If our children don't know the alphabet by 18 months, I'm not gonna sweat it. Hell, I didn't learn it until I was in kindergarten and somehow I've managed to get along in life. :svengo:

Lately I've often been unable to get back to sleep for a few hours after the 4:30am-ish pee call. That's why I was up.

I think you may be missing my point K. I never expected my baby to learn the alphabet, and did nothing to help her learn it aside from allowing her to watch Sesame Street everyday, which she loved. We were actually very surprised when we held up her letter blocks and she would recite every letter (many well before being 18 months even). We were shocked when we heard her counting past 10 and singing the whole alphabet song and knowing every letter we showed her. So the point is not that its important to know the alphabet early cuz I'm definitely NOT one of those high powered types that want my child to learn before she is ready, BUT it just goes to show how effective this stuff might be (though sure some may be hereditary LOL). You will notice DHA is now in most infant formula brands (it usually costs a few dollars more) and I think its required in European formulas. So if taking a little fish oil helps your baby's brain and eye development, I can't see how its not worth trying. Best to you and the baby, hope you two are feeling good!

I think you can credit alot of that if not most of it to Seseame Street. We have some smart kids over here.My cousin whom I took care of from a baby knew all his letters and alphabet and numbers and all that crap super early and I got allt he credit for it however, we watched seseame street together every morning...My girls are very smart, Taneesha amazing for her age...all ive done is spent tons of time with them, teaching them stuff and playing with them and encouraging them:)

Im sorry about your car BB.Hoppefully they will reinburst you but dealing with the damn city is insainity at times...and they dont give two shits, LOL.

WOW to your Aunt...sounds a bit like upstairs (Grannies) but not nearly that bad.Everything has hair in it and you never know how long she left something out for and so on, LOL.

We are now dealing with ath weather, except we dont get nearly as hot as you do out there. For so long we have been in the dbl digit -'s. -14, -20 with wind chill now we are living the life of above 0 like + 7 and stuff, it is raining and the snow is melting and things are getting bad.We had at least 3 or 4 feet of snow.Like up to my waist...
