BikiniBound's Diary

Hey fellow Grinch Twin! :santa:

Yeah, looks like I'm back on track as far as eating goes. Scalentino, however, was not very kind to me this morning--the bastard!! :cuss: 229lbs. I think I just need to release a steaming bog into the toilet (these are my crude H's words :D ).

I'm with you on the Christmas shopping. I love to shope for gifts for other people--especially when I know what to get them. I just hate the years when I don't have much money, and I really hate all the crowds. I have no patience for long lines and pushing and shoving throngs of morons. :santa:

I do most of my christmas shopping online, I HATE crowds.

Way to go on the 60-minute bike ride. My ass would have been killing me! I usually have to re-adjust my ass cheeks after about 20 minutes or they go numb. They need wider seats on those things!

Good luck with the steaming bog!! Too funny!

My ass WAS killing me after 20min. I kept wiggling around trying to get comfortable--never did..lol.

Yes, you can always count on an Aussie male to have an arsenal of crude, yet funny phrases. Here's a funny story: My H often refers to the bathroom as the dunny. So, the first time I visited Australia, we went into a deli and I asked the guy behind the counter where the dunny was. I thought I was being all cool using Aussie slang. The guy gave me a funny look, and my H cracked up laughing and said, "Aww...gee, Kimberly, don't be rude." I asked him what was so rude, thinking dunny was the Aussie equivelent of loo for the Brits. Apparently it's more like crapper or john--not very ladylike. I was so embarrassed. I wanted to smack him for not letting me know that. I guess he was getting even with me for winning a $900 bet we had that involved the word dunny. :D

Ha! I'll have to remember "dunny". How did you meet your H?

LMAO!! NOW THAT'S FUNNY!! But had my H did that to me, first I would have smacked him hard, LOL then I would have busted a gut at myself for falling for it, that's the same kind of stuff my H would have done to me as a joke of course. LOL LOL I hope you get to PINCH ONE OFF today, and lose a pound before bed. LOL Plus, it should help your stomach feel better too. MMMMWAHHHH Kisses to ya babes!!

Ha! I'll have to remember "dunny". How did you meet your H?

We met at a party in Korea. I was visiting a friend for the weekend who lived in his city. When I arrived in town I was supposed to meet gf at a certain bar. I got there before she did, and started talking to a very drunk Aussie guy who invited me to a party at his house the next night. When gf arrived, I told her about his invite and she knew him (in the cities outside of Seoul, the English teachers all know each other) and was planning on going to it anyway. Drunk Aussie guy turned out to be a good friend of H's. So that night she and I were at a night club and this British/Jamaican guy latched onto me. I wasn't all that hot for him, but figured he could hang around until someone better came along. :D So the next night he, gf and I went to the party together. I was feeling pretty good from having drunk a couple of bottles of lemon soju. :D I saw H from behind, and loved his hair. In my tipsy state, I expressed my admiration out loud. We started talking and I ended up leaving the party with him--much to Brit/Jam guy's annoyance. H and I have been together ever since, despite B/J guy trying very hard to get me to dump him..lol. He was a HUGE player, so I made the right decision. He's the guy I played truth or dare with at said party that I talked about in a much earlier post. His dare was to strip naked. He did, and stood there with a massive erection thinking I was gonna jump on it. I ended up laughing and leaving the room. :smilielol5:

Man, you've done a ton of traveling. Did you ever rock anywhere else aside from eastern / SE asia?

HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

that is amazing

I spent a semester in Brussels, another in England, and have also been to France, Morocco, Wales and Spain.

AmyRB: What kind of job did you have that required you to travel so much?

I was an ESL teacher in S. Korea. There wasn't any travel required for the job, but I flew back and forth to come home to visit, and also did some travelling around Asia while there. I spent 2 semesters studying in Europe while in college, and H and I lived in his native Australia for a year.

Sadly, I have not left the country since I returned from Australia in Nov. 2001. :cuss: Well, I think I went to Windsor, Ontario since then, but that doesn't really count as it's right across the river from Detroit..lol.

I love traveling. It's quite an addictive (not to mention expensive) hobby, isn't it? I have not been off U.S. soil since 1999 and it has been torture to remain grounded so long.

Oh girl--I feel your pain!! :banghead: I can travel fairly cheaply b/c I'm good at getting deals, but these days I can't even afford to do that. H has gone home to Australia 4X since March 2002--and that leaves no money left to do any other travelling. Tickets to Aussie alone are ridiculous--even at the deals I manage to find. $1300-1900 a pop is what we pay--for one ticket. :ack2::ack2:

Nope. Now I'm a Realtor.....:smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5: :smilielol5: :banghead:

I take it you do not enjoy being a realtor? How's the market in MI?

I would like it a lot better if I made more money at it. The market sucks. We have the 3rd worst foreclosure rate in the country. However, about 90% of the foreclosures are in the Detroit area. The market is still sluggish around here, though. It is getting better, but very slowly. Today I am frustrated with a deal that's supposed to close on Wednesday. I'm ready to punch the sellers, and cannot wait for this to be over. :D

Anyway this is why I'm looking for a different job. :sifone:

My stepson's mother has gotten fired from 2 different real estate offices in the past 3 weeks. Apparently she was only going in to work one day a week and her open houses lasted only 1-2 hours. She was bragging when she got her license that she didn't have to work much at all and was gonna make TONS of money. She's 35 and this is the only job she has had in 10 years and she only had it for a year and a half.

From your experience what do you think of this? I really don't know any realtors but think it would take more than one day a week to make ends meet right? She sold 4 houses total in a year and a half. She has always been very lazy and I think she got fired because of it.

Amy,
I can't speak for my Twin, but one of my closest friends here is a Realtor, and well she's the one that sold "MY" house, and helped me and the H buy our house together, she made some good MULLA off of us, but we are grateful to her, because we took up a lot of her time, and she was very patient with us, and to be honest ever since the sale of both houses, we rarely get to see her, because she's either showing a house, in closing, or doing an open house, she NEVER has down time, but I guess that's how she paid off both her parents homes, granted they only owed like 30K each, but DAMN!!! I wish I could do that myself. We miss her, because she never seems to have a lot of time anymore. WAH!!!

I've heard one can make a pretty decent living from this and it sounds as if you really have to work at it.

I actually called her previous employer and one of the office staff gave me the scoop. She never came into work, answered the phone when clients called, and never showed houses. Apparently another realtor sold her clients' houses and she just made part of the commission from it. I don't know much about being a real estate agent but I know my agent made a ton of money from the sale of my other home and the purchase of our current one. It just doesn't make sense that she got fired twice in a three week period if the job was supposed to be "easy money".

BB, what would a realtor have to do to get fired?

Well, some Realtors work constantly so that you can't have a 5min convo wiht them w/out their cell phone going off, family plans get cancelled last min when something comes up, etc. And others don't work as much. You generally get out of it what you put into it. I don't work as hard as I could, but I have other things on my plate that take priority. Some brokers will let you go if you don't produce enough, others don't care so much. The way mine is set up, it doesn't cost the company anything if you only have a few closings a year. But your H's ex was foolish if she thought she'd make big $$ by just working 1 day a week. I don't know any Realtors who make a lot of $$ who don't put in at least 40hrs a week. People come into it thinking it can't be hard, and they're all gonna strike it rich. They soon see the reality--it's hard work, and it you're not a self-starter, you'll have a hard time making yourself do the things that have to be done to do well. That's part of my problem. :D

I'm sure this is what she did. She's one of those people who are always trying to find a "get rich quick" scheme.

I'm sure you do your job quite well. I have heard that the market sucks up in your area so it must be hard to sell. I'm glad it's getting better. :) I know about selling and commission, I used to be an insurance agent. How bad do I suck? I HATED it and only lasted a month. I didn't feel comfortable trying to sucker elderly people into buying policies they couldn't afford. My boss told me to MAKE THEM. Nice huh? I told him where to stuff his policy and walked out. Lol!
