Biggest Loser Tonight

Wow, if you don't feel like reading a thread, just stay out of it.

Why feel the need to add something like this?

i read the majority of it until you and sweetpea started to bicker back and forth. everyone always thinks their right and their opinion is law.. i think just enjoy the show for the face value it has. and i say stfu and stop argueing because its annoying to see in every thread

I completely agree with ya, Steve. There is absolutely no need for incivility and telling people to stfu b/c they are discussing something. If you don't want to read a thread--don't. No need to get rude. And as for the stuff that Sweatpea said, I just have no idea where that came from. I didn't see anything at all in this thread that warranted the things she said. I thought it was completely civil and saw no "tit-for-tat" going on. I mean, it's a discussion. There's going to be a bit of "tit-for-tat," but I saw nothing in your posts to support her claims. If anything, just the opposite.

sweetpea and steve both took this too far. by both getting personal..

if u see my comment as rude. then good. take it as an instruction then. i liked this thread until ppl started defendign their opinions like it mattered.

1. Screw you again.

2. You are awesome.

3. You are magic, you can read 'tone' through the Internet!!

4. You've helped more people than me, I bow down to your authority. Motivation and coddling is great. Keep it up, you are making a difference. I'm actually recommending you change fields and become a trainer immediately. Your talent is being wasted.

5. Yup, the above is stated to keep your fragile ego intact. :)

6. So when you go slinging verbal assault on me mixed with a question pertaining to my qualifications, you expect me to answer first, before saying screw you next time? Mentally noted.

7. I didn't understand this last post of yours. You repeated the same question about it being hard for me to give you my qualifications when I stated them very obviously in this thread. And like it took me long to begin with, haha. Wake up. You insulted me. I said screw you. You insulted me some more. I gave you an answer. If you ask me, you got your answer quicker than you should have.

8. You are fun to play with. You live in a bubble, don't you? Everything in that bubble is pretty flowers and fluttering butterflies and you are just perfect.

Welcome to reality.

Screw you.

y say screw you? how are u gunna be butthurt to her about calling you out and getting personal when u do the same thing. lead by example.

if anyone else has an issue with my comment, send it to the complaint department, its located in ur bathroom inside the toilet, where the rest of the shit ppl talk needs to be

It's annoying so leave.

You aren't helping the situation, that's for damn sure.

sweetpea and steve both took this too far. by both getting personal..

I didn't get personal until I was called out and my character was questioned. You seem to be missing that little detail.

if u see my comment as rude. then good. take it as an instruction then. i liked this thread until ppl started defendign their opinions like it mattered.

I'm pretty sure you're the last person to be giving instruction.

And in my world opinions do matter.

But ya see, here's the difference. I actually respect people.

y say screw you? how are u gunna be butthurt to her about calling you out and getting personal when u do the same thing. lead by example.

Show me where I got personal.

if anyone else has an issue with my comment, send it to the complaint department, its located in ur bathroom inside the toilet, where the rest of the shit ppl talk needs to be

Great one.

This forum is getting better by the second.

I watched the first season on and off and hadn't seen it again until this season. For me it's still entertaining for the same reason it was when it started, watching overweight people trying to run and the results at the end where they look like different people.

I guess however that even if only one persons life gets changed from something that's only meant to be entertainment thats a good thing though...

It's annoying so leave.
no i'll do what you do, and over analyze things like your the god of this forum

You aren't helping the situation, that's for damn sure.
ITS THE INTERNET, BOOHOO

I didn't get personal until I was called out and my character was questioned. You seem to be missing that little detail.

I'm pretty sure you're the last person to be giving instruction.
REFER TO ITS THE INTERNET BOOOHOOO

And in my world opinions do matter.
But ya see, here's the difference. I actually respect people.
I respect a lot of ppl to. and only the ppl i know in real life, u could be a giant ahole for all i care but then act differently online to gain respect.. meh. dont expect respect from online ppl. nor should u need it to feel justified

Show me where I got personal.

Great one.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm really pissed off that I feel the need to explain myself to you b/c frankly, it has absolutely nothing to do with this thread.

This thread was started to discuss the Biggest Loser. As far as I know, there are no rules stating in what 'light' we have to discuss it. The OP has contributed to the discussions so I'm pretty sure she isn't offended.

It always amazes me when adults can't handle themselves in a conversation. It's almost as if I was personally attacking you. Insecure much? LOL.

Actually no I'm not insecure at all.

I could care less what more you have to say. I've talked to quite a few people this morning now and everyone agreed that they had no idea where you were coming from with your ridiculous post. As long as everyone who reads the full thread understands what happened... that's all I care about.

I'm not sure why you felt my post was ridiculous I was just stating that the show was just that a show.

You've done a very good job at proving your intent and lack of substance to add to the conversation. Ha! That's funny.... :D

What you've done here is tantamount to saying, "I don't like the topic that Steve is talking about or the way he is handling himself, so I am going to try and make him look like a fool by calling out his personal credentials and lack of knowledge."

Nope I didn't say that at all, and I wasn't thinking that. Maybe I should've pmed you to see about your credentials? I guess that's my fault for not knowing there were rules on here about asking people about their credentials?

You can bark all you like about your intentions of the post... but you said specific things that made it very clear the true intentions. You can paint a picture all you like... that's not going to change anyone's perceptions who actually know me. Ok. So now you are trying to tell me what my true intentions of my own post was?

You honestly believe I've done more harm than good in this community?

Nope, don't believe I said that.

If you haven't been around long enough to answer that question, maybe you should keep your mouth shut before running it into something that's uncalled for and unnecessary.

Maybe you are a bit insecure? This is a public forum and as far as I know we are allowed to ask questions that go against the grain if we choose to do so.

The number of people who have said something about me personally in a negative light around here I can count on one hand. I've been here quite a while and made well over 5000 posts. That doesn't say something about your accusations?

I didn't accuse you of anything. And yes I know you've been here at this forum a lot longer than I have.

I'll also add that most of those who have said something personally insulting toward me are no longer a member of this community, thankfully.

Why is that, is this your community? Do you chase off everyone that doesn't agree with you?

If you want to continue down the path of discussing an unrelated topic (me), please feel free to stop by my journal. I'd love to chit chat with you. No problem, but then I'd have all your friends jumping down my throat. I don't have as many friends here, why don't you stop by my journal sometime?

But realize, I do enjoy rationality, which is yet to be seen here. If you like to discuss or even debate a particular topic... by all means. But if you want to turn it into a personal assault, I have no interest. I'm not rational? I have not said one irrational thing.

Point of order: disagreement is not disrespect no matter how much you want it to be. You are right about that.

If you can point to anything I said that addressed you individually (as a personal attack) as opposed to the topic at hand, I will gladly apologize on the spot. I never felt personally attacked (well until now), I asked you for your credentials and you went off on me. And to address something earlier that you said - when you quote someone you are talking directly to them, not to "everyone."

Presenting a cogent, reasoned argument is not disrespect in any circle that wishes to be taken seriously.

Unfortunately some people simply do not like the truth and will scramble for whatever means they can find to disarm the person disagreeing, which includes disagreement masquerading as a feigned "disrespect". Ok? not sure where you are going with this.

I hate the fact that I took the time to type that. But I also hate the fact that you brought my character into question in a simple conversation. Yes, well you did show me that you indeed do have patience to do such a dissected post.

I'm done. I'm sure you'll add your last word, which is fine. The truth will fall on rational ears though.

Oh of course, I'm a woman. Women always get the last word, right? LOL

My only thought on this is that you really took what I asked the wrong way. I asked you for your credentials and you said screw off. Basically, in a nut shell.

I am still going to hang around here, even if you beat me up with all the bad rep points you can. I'm tougher than that.

Like you told another lady on here that didn't agree with you - use the ignore button. It's a wonderful feature in these forums!

wow.
i didnt look at this thread for like 2 days and all this drama unfolded! haha.
i just started the thread cause i like the show and i wanted to see if other people wanted to talk about it with me since i couldnt talk about it with my girlfriends from college anymore. i didnt realize that people had such strong opinions about it. Im sorry if i opened up a can of worms here

What did I say that was so off the wall?

1. Screw you again. I'm not sure why that is your favorite condescending remark, but no thanks.

2. You are awesome. Whatever
3. You are magic, you can read 'tone' through the Internet!! Well cool then so are you, because you perceived my "tone" in my first post this morning.

4. You've helped more people than me, I bow down to your authority. Motivation and coddling is great. Keep it up, you are making a difference. I'm actually recommending you change fields and become a trainer immediately. Your talent is being wasted. I didn't say that, I said- how do you know? You don't, you don't know me from a stranger on the street.

5. Yup, the above is stated to keep your fragile ego intact. :) Yours too, I'm guessing?

6. So when you go slinging verbal assault on me mixed with a question pertaining to my qualifications, you expect me to answer first, before saying screw you next time? Mentally noted. What verbal assault? By asking you how long you were in the biz? Not sure where that came from.

Well that's because I didn't read down far enough before I started to go thru your post... then realized you did give your credentials, and then said it wasn't that hard to do.

8. You are fun to play with. You live in a bubble, don't you? Everything in that bubble is pretty flowers and fluttering butterflies and you are just perfect. Oh yes I do...bubbles and flowers and butterflies....thank goodness! I've never had one imperfect day in my whole life....oh man! I'm so glad you reminded me of my bubblicious world!

Welcome to reality.

Screw you.

Oh by all means keep saying that, if you like you can put me on ignore. :) Have a good evening.

JerseyGirl, I would like to talk about the show as well. If you feel like opening another thread chatting about the Biggest Loser, go ahead. It seems I've marred this thread with all of the personal bashing I was doing. :?

Anyway, just a suggestion so that others don't get disheartened wanting to chat about the show.

I think common sense will tell you that this went beyond the actual show once personal agendas were brought to the stage. Something as simple as a pebble can start some very deep conversation.... so I'm not sure why people keep saying 'it's just a show.' Let's think outside the realms of the original post here.

You are right though, that I need to chill out. I'm done with this thread. I was actually really enjoying the discussion until earlier today. I've been around forums long enough to know that this argument is not going to go anywhere significant, so it might as well stop now.

The real issue, and the only issue I ever took as being disrespectful was the way Sweatpea presented herself. If she had simply made inquiry to my experience, I would have taken no issue.

Instead, she said this:

I've read through your journal and not really figured out just what it is you do, besides give some people on here a hard time about their choices.... and obviously you are judging people you don't even know (the contestants on the biggest loser, etc...)

That was a direct insult to my character and intent.... no matter how she meant it. I've spent a lot of time on this forum helping people. I'm not looking for recognition at all. But I certainly will stand up for myself when something like this is said.

I think if anyone has read my journal they'd realize that she painted a totally inaccurate picture of the truth.

So my apologies to the OP for getting away from the subject at hand.

I don't know why we keep tit-for-tatting over this, it was their decision. Not yours nor mine.

I'm not sure I get why you really care - they aren't your customers/clients. And from what I've gathered you are a personal trainer (?)

I think most people that come here to discuss this thread do so for the entertainment purposes. Yeah these are real people, but it was their choice. You could try to find out how to contact them, I guess, and then see if you can help them with the psychological feelings about the whole situation. I mean you are a counselor of sorts too (it sounds like?)

And how many clients have you had? How long have you been in the biz? What's your background? I would just like to know I guess. I've read through your journal and not really figured out just what it is you do, besides give some people on here a hard time about their choices.... and obviously you are judging people you don't even know (the contestants on the biggest loser, etc...)

I don't really know...:gives a who gives a durn look:

This is what you said that I thought was suddenly nasty--or at the very least, smug and accusing. To me, it didn't seem warranted at all. I mean, you both were merely saying what you thought about the show and the people on it, and then suddenly you took it to a whole new level. If you had said that to me, or most anyone--you'd have gotten a blast back. So it's not just Steve who would feel this way. I'm just calling like I see it. I do know that Steve knows a mind boggling amount about exercise and weightloss, nutrition, etc. He is more educated about this than anyone else I've ever met. And he gives great advice and is very helpful to people who ask him for it. And he does it for free. If you've read his journal as you say you have, I would think you would already know this. I will say that the screw yous were probably not the best thing for him to say. However, I am guilty of saying similar things when I'm pissed off and feeling attacked. I'm sure he was. Anyway, this thread has quickly deteriorated, and it's best that it be buried. However, since you feel you have to have the last word....go for it.

hey guys,
tues night so the show is on again tonight. i was hoping maybe we could kind of start over nad talk about the show again!!
i just checked out the site and its another 2 hr episode tonight... i cant believe they are having 3 2hr episodes in a row. thats kind of crazy, right?

That was just genius training by Bob, let me tell ya.

Let's have obese people sprint on a hard surface.

Oh no, no!

Better yet....

Let's sprint with 200+ lbs of other obese people on obese people's backs.

Genius I tell ya!

Oh, and as I'm typing this... even better.

Training on one leg gives you the 'six pack you always wanted.'

I just puked in my mouth. And to think, I actually liked this guy before tonight.

OMG, the drama on this show is absolutely ridiculous! I believe that twin's bad knee which he "hurt at the challenge" evidences how dumb the training really is. Just shockingly dumb! And they just love to show people carrying others while running or dragging one of the trainers in their effort to show how hard their working and how committed they are to their "last chance workout". All to add to the drama LOL. Too funny..it has me glued to the telly in flabbergastment (is that a word?).

I bet you we'll see Biggest Loser chain gyms pop up within the next few years.

Just like Curves but with bigger backing and notoriety.
