Snacks are good so long as we pick things low in calories and a little more filling. Is your family helping you lose weight? Would it be possible to stop keeping high calorie snacks such as chips/crackers/cookies/etc in the house?

My favorite snacks are: carrots, cottage cheese, wasabi rice crackers (from whole foods. 15 crackers = 120 calories), a few almonds, a glass of milk, tea with honey, etc.

You had a wonderful start to your day and its not too late to keep it going. Don't get down about it. Some chips aren't going to ruin a diet. It just means you get to eat less calories later.

I can't remember... are you using fitday?

I don't care what anyone says about this, because I whole-heartedly believe its true: Your family is responsible for your health as well as you. They contribute to your wellbeing in so many ways, including helping you curb desires for sweets. If you live with them, make sure you're including them by explaining your goals and what needs to change in order for you to see that goal.

You can do it! I believe in you. :D

I am having a hard time right now, because I lost my wallet. My mom picked a fight with me, literally. I was going to go with her to her hair dressers, but instead she told me that I am a blabber mouth and better not say anything wrong. And than I go downstairs and my nose is sniffling from allergies, but I am busy looking for my wallet and Liz, my younger sister, sharply says "Why don't you take care of that!" I was so offended by both of them.

My mother does try to keep good things in the house. She bought me pluots today. Its my favorite fruit, its taken the place of strawberries. Maybe I will go have one now.

But anyway, my step dad is brought sugar cookies from my mom. And I sneak down at night and eat some of them. Used to clean out the whole bag, but for the past two days only eaten four each time. But tonight I don't plan on eating any and no pbj, plus adding to this ..the jam is gone... hopefully she won't be buying any in the near future. I think I am eating fish tonight, but I will edit my last post and put in what I eat for the rest of the day, obviously I will add the pluot as a snack and that is probably a good snack :)
its a piece of fruit, kind of like a plum, but bigger, plumper and sweeter.

but anyway ...

I will write tomorrows plan on my next entry ..here goes::::

5 triscuit carrots with five slices of pepper jack ch.

P.S. If you crave the cookies tonight, drink water. I know its not the same, but its a discipline I'm working on and it seems to be doing well for me. I get mad at myself if I cave in, so in order to not be mad at myself, I drink water!

I go to bed normally around nine thirty pm ..but I always get cravings at night ..don't know why ...

but anyway usually I fill those cravings with bad stuff ..but this time I am going on one cup of whole wheat cheerios and one cup of skim ...
it will give me fiber ..calcium and vitamin d and probably fill the craving ...or put me into sleep mode ..with the milk

last night wasn't so great ..very restless .. I am going to do a work out dvd ..

I am going to do some aerobics in my room ..finally cleared the floor so I can do it in my room with out any problems ..

If I am hungry late at night I drink skim milk. Little calories, but makes the belly feel full. My alternate is a hard boiled egg. Good protein, not too many calories and already portion controlled.
 
I'm really not a nutritional specialist, so I don't entirely know how this works... but, it seems to me that if I eat food too close to when I'm sleeping (within two hours or so) that I'll end up just storing all I ate as fat.

When I was 217lbs, the first diet change I made had nothing to do with what I ate and everything to do with when I stopped eating. I made a rule for myself to not eat after 9pm under the assumption that I was going to bed by 11pm. I lost 5lbs off the bat by just changing that.

I was definitely a late night eater and I loved to go out and grab a late dinner or have a bowl of cereal before bed. I think it wasn't helping at all.

If you're going to bed at 9:30 but getting up to fill cravings, what time are you going back to bed? If you go back to bed immediately, you might want to go with Amba's trick of drinking skim milk. I'd really avoid calories around sleepy time.

I always tell myself that I will eat something healthy, yet filling when the craving hits, but if I wait until the craving hits, its too late and I give into the junkfood! Since you KNOW that you crave things late at night, it'd be a good idea to eat something healthy a couple hours before the cravings usually hit. That way, you will not be as hungry and as anxious to grab the first sugary/fatty food around.

Believe me, doing this helps! But, if you dont want to try that, then another good alternative is skim milk.. like ambalove said ! Its very filling, good for you and not too high in fat or calories. Whatever happens, dont be discouraged! Keep believing in yourself, no matter what. :) :hug2:

Amba I have tried just skim milk..lol and I need the cheerios. It really fills me up, plus I was still losing weight even though I was having the sml bowl of cheerios at night. I just can't go with out eating at night. I have tried for years to cut the food out. Even trying ant acids to try to stop the acid that comes after not feeding the craving ..it doth not work ..lol
I have tried your way, but I am probably going to go with the whole wheat cheerios hun. BUT I was thinking of going out in the morning and go for a walk or bike ride...

but the wierd thing is that I am not hungry for breakfast in the morning, because I ate at night, so I eat an early lunch ..its odd ..yes ...

but I will eat breakfast from now on ... lol but it will be small and portioned out ...

Ok .. I will give it a shot Amba and Sunny! lol
I will try just drinking milk when I get up at night. I just hate the taste of milk alone ..lol but I will do it ..lol
if it doesnt work than I am going to try just eating a small bowl of cheerios or eat some crackers that have no sugar in them ..and they are naturally with out sugar ..lol

Your so right! I should fill the craving before it hits ..because I grab most anything when it hits. ..thus sugar cookies and pbj ... but I am going to try just skim milk...but if I need more to get me to sleep ..than I will try a little cheerios to comply with my body

Hola Nat,

Yes, I too have heard that it's not a great idea eating late at night- I'm assuming it is because you are not as physically active after a certain hour (e.g. 9pm) and the calories are more difficult to burn off- esp. if you go right to bed after dinner or something.

The cravings are a killer aren't they? I'm trying to limit what I have at night- usually fill up on tea or a small yogurt- but not too late at night. The suggestion about eating before the craving hits is certainly a good one, you just have to make sure you stick to it.

Good work otherwise Nat! You're doing better in the food department than I am at the moment!

Your doing great with your food. That's good advice about trying to just drink the milk. I used to not like milk at all but i've gotten used to the taste and it works well!

I didn't eat last night! I drank one huge cup of skim milk around ten pm at night and it filled me up so much that I didn't eat at all last night!!!

I ate breakfast this morning at 9:30 am ...

Whole wheat cheerios with skim milk (one cup, one cup)

Lunch
Whole wheat cheerioes with skim milk (one cup, one cup)

Snack
Small carrots with ranch dressing dipping sos
Cherry tomatoes alone

One Pluot ..very yummy!

And thats about it for now ... no chips ...no bad stuff so far! yea!!
drinks: bottle of 16 oz water so far...
one 16oz cup of sun tea with two packet so pink sweet n low.
another 16 oz bottle of water with ice
8 oz cup of Sprite.. a little sweetness
2- 16 oz cups of tea...

dinner:
Three small pieces of thin filet chicken marinaded in cajus sos
and two cups of asparagus


before dinner snack
16 oz cup of skim milk ((crosses fingers)) --> hope this works again!

and I had a pluot right before dinner, because I was getting hungry.. pluots are damn good!

My Day... meals. etc.

So the first part of the day was hectic, actually now that I think about it, the whole day was hectic! AND when its hectic you ten to not eat so well ...

So this is how my day went

I had lost my wallet a few weeks ago, but nothing has happened in the account, but it is def gone.

SO .. I went to The DMV and bought a duplicate ID ... better pic than last time, because I have lost a tiny-bit of weight. So overall good pic.. def some color in my cheeks and face ..good stuff .. felt good ..to see a brighter me..

the night before however, I had eaten seven sugar cookies, so I woke up a little on the shaky side, too metaformin. Felt better by midday ... kind of ...

Than we picked my sister up from her job and the only thing offerred me to eat was rasp milanos.. or there was the hamburger at mcDonalds.. I didnt know what to do ..so I went with the cookies

In the morning I had eaten a sandwich, but was hungry by the afternoon ..

so I ended up eating ten rasp milanos.. stupid me!

but I ate one cup of chilli at the end of the day and
am having chix with eggplant ...

so it wasnt a good day for eating .. Because I also had to drive an hour and a half down to middleton ma and shut my account down and open a new account a reroute my other check into the new account ... so I now have a license again and have access to my money, which I will be using tomorrow to pick up fruit and meat and sweet potatoes ...
so I am going to pick up the pace with the food intake and portion control ..
and I am walking to the library tomorrow and am going to walk the long way home ..so I walk a total of thirty to forty minutes ...

so ... Hopefully I have learned my lesson today ...
wish me the best everyone, I think I need to get this back on track ..

I know they say not to restrict treats, but to eat them in moderation. But sometimes, with us wacky insulin girls, we really need to cut them out a while to get our bodies out of a sugar crave cycle. I see you eating a lot of cookies, and it reminds me of how I used to eat M&M's ALL DAY, like 10 at a time (which is small), but about 30 times a day....that's a lot. You need to take care of you, babe. I'd nix ALL cookies for a bit and see if things turn around.

You are right. The walk today will be very nice. The high is going to be 73 degrees. My mom is going to where hiking pants. But I am just going to wear my hiking shorts. I love the cool weather. The leaves and trees are crazy. I just need to pick up some batteries for my camera so I can get pics. Its a mom and I hike. I am hiking up MtnBluejob again... I am really looking forward to it!

lol its actually a 14/16 shirt, but 24 pants. lol I hate the pants size, the shirt size is awesome. But the pant size I have gone down one. I was at a 26, now I have to lose and keep losing ... to get down more pant size ...lol

the upperbody is doing ok ... I am walking and working on my stomach ...

My legs hurt yesterday when walking, but the hike should take care of all that ..

thanks hun for writing in my journal.. I shall come over to check yours out ..and btw .. I love your ticker ..it is so cute!
