"Big Girls (You are Beautiful" <-- Mika's song: Nataliejo's Diary.

There's a woman in my neighborhood who walks with some frequency now. I see her a couple times a week. If I had to guess, I'd say she's around 330lbs, but I'm a terrible judge of weight. Every time I see her, it inspires me to walk more. I think "Wow... now thats a person who is changing her life. I want to have that kind of drive... that kind of motivation."

Totally agree - today at the gym, a very large woman was on the cross trainer. You could see how hard it was for her, and how motivated she was. She'd slow down, and just when you thought she was able to give up, she'd redouble her efforts and carry on. I was so impressed! That's called willpower and dedication!

Lula, Rah, and HealthyHabit,

I went for a walk for an hour and a half...
I don't think I am going to go for the bike ride, its late. But I have been working on my room and I just started laundry...

but the walk was excellent!:jump:

That's more walking than I've done today! I love walking but not in a polluted busy city like London.

Need to do laundry too grr.

your doing great with your walking, the only walking I do is to my mailbox and back each day (1 km hill) but i never count it.

Thats more walking than I did today! Somehow my day managed to slip away and I wasn't left with any time at all. Its now 11pm and I have to get some shut eye or I'll never manage to keep my feet under me tomorrow.

Persistence is the key and I think you have what it takes.

Hi Natalie,

I have been trying to figure out to post you. Is there anyways to keep some posters close at hand so you don't have to scroll around lots and lots of posts to find someone? Just wondering!:)

I am impressed with your dedication! I think this whole wieght loss thing requires a certain amount of faith in the process as it happens pretty slowly really and its hard to stay motivated. At least for me!

I got a little start last week here but have been on vacation here in Chicago and eating way too much. I am hoping i don't gain too much during this time and will step right back on the band wagon when I get home!!!

I also love to canoe/kayak. It really is beautiful to be outside! You live in an area like mine. I also find that if I walk in the am for instance, and then bike in the eveings, I feel really good. You are mixing it up well. I also like the sprint idea too! They say it is the best for you!:rotflmao: And you know, THEY know everything! Ha Ha

Keep it up!!! :) Karen

Hahaha. Yes, "they" seem to be so wise.

NatalieJo, your attitude is so positive. It's very encouraging to come read your posts. Don't lose that. Ultimately, it will be that wonderful outlook that takes you all the way to your goal!

Hey Sunny!
Thanks for swinging by.. I was thinking of swinging by your journal yesterday .. I think I will ...:)

Well .. today I walked for forty five minutes, but faster and harder than yesterday ... the fat pockets that had just arrived four weeks ago, are gone... the ones on my bottom and on my hips ..they are all gone from all the walking and biking and weight resistance! ...

Healthy
Thanks for swinging by ...
I am so happy all of you like to come walking into my journal ... I have so many diaries to read ... This is AWESOME!
Lula I want to see your pics ... I don't know why someone would be offended ... hmm ...

and Kbing...
It is a nice area ... lots of hills .... pretty streets and what not ... I walked in the rain!!! and the sun dried my shirt and my pants and my glasses ..
I walked for that long .. It started raining one fourth of the way around ...than I walked in the hot sun ..when the sun came out ..it was extremely hot ... people were just staring at me as I walked down the sidewalk in the rain ..and I just kept on-a going! I felt I needed to do that to prove that I was in this and in this for good ..

I pictured myself after the rain ..walking when I was ninety ..lmao .. or even one hundred ..that I would keep walking until there was no life in me anymore ..old and grey and off the blip map ..

So I plan to do this for the rest of my life!

oh by the way ..
I've lost two more oz. So that makes it four oz ..

so that puts me at 294.6

yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and Rah ... Thanks so much ...
you all are so wonderful

and Sylver...
what do you do for exercise? The mailbox counts ..lmao ..your going up hill ...going up hill is hard ...especially when you haven't walked in a while!

nataliejo, I record my exercise in my diary (Countdown to Competition) but in general includes some weights, RPM, Soccer coaching, Rugby etc.

Well done on the lost oz :)

I did some sprints today, in the evening!
Only a few or more... but soon I am going to do more... keep doing them everyday and I am picking up rackets or battmitten so we can exercise in the back yard... so I am trying to develop new activities to break up my routine and make myself lose more weight, while having even more fun ..

I had so much fun doing the few sprints I did ...

Hey Natalie,

Thanks for stopping by my journal. Your doing great. You keep going and going and going.... its amazing. Its great that your losing fat pockets and your cloths are getting bigger. Doesn't it feel great?

Keep up the amazing work! Your drive and work ethic is inspiring.

I offered to match walking/biking with happychubett this past weekend. Unfortunately I don't think I posted in time for her to see it.

I'd certainly be happy to be anyone's e-walking or e-biking companion (if that makes sense). So if you need some motivation, let me know how far you've gone and I'll try to match it! Marathons aside of course... i think i'd die. hahah

Its tough to keep going... but it gets so much easier as we do it more.

I have the opportunity to go hiking today, but I think I am just going to hike around the neighborhood and do some sprints and use the weight bench, which is almost like the universal.

I have been up since 4:45 am .. I mean it would be a good opportunity, but mom says they can do the same hike next Tuesday, when I don't have to wake up so early. Than we will be able to do it at two pm and I will get up at nine am ...

whatda think?

I would much rather do it, completely in my best possible condition .. I feel icky from waking up so early... I took a shower, but its 2:27pm..

by the way, I earned myself a treat. I had my hair dresser cut half my hair off ..its a beautiful cut. Its right below my shoulder, it feels so light, and it looks so beautiful. My hair is auburn red with some brown flecks. Natural hair color. It was a good day, even though I hated getting up so early, but my mom completely complied to dropping me off at the hair dresser and picking me up after she went to the bank... nice thing for her to do, even though she was an hour and a half late picking me up, so I was standing in the hot sun ..waiting and waiting and waiting ... I was dancing on the pavement pretty much while waiting ...lmao

but I have my 45 dollars to buy dinner with my best friend four days after her bday on Sunday ... she was born on July 4th, and than We are going out to the mall Sunday, eating out for seafood. I will probably eat something broiled, no friend anything. With maybe a salad. They have an excellent Salad bar. I only eat certain Salads at certain places. Can't afford a lobster, but will get a fish broiled, going to think of my tummy weight ..and etc.

My sister worked out on the bike for an hour and she did the free weights and bench weights for a half hour. I didn't do the bench weights for as long, but I was in the hot sun for an hour yesterday, but man did I work out. When I did the sprints I did it in the shade on my lawn. I am picking up the badmitten, or whatever, with the birdie and net tonight. yea!! More ways to exercise and have fun. AT some point I plan to pick up rackets and balls and use the tennis courts up at the pines. They use to have a wall so you could play tennis with the wall, but they built up the playground for the kids, which sucks for the adults .. but they left one tennis court into the pines ... and its a hard hike up to the pines.. just the name should give an image of moving up higher into the neighborhood..
didn't weigh myself, but have a feeling I weigh the same as yesterday or a couple oz less. I know I will reach at plateau again with in the next ten pounds, but I am just going to take my weight loss slow and keep it off when it comes to that time when I have reached my final goal, which will be revealed when I reach 200 pounds. Right now I am losing the weight in fifteen to twenty pounds marks ... but going to keep my original first weigh in when I joined the group. At 300 pounds. By sept fifteenth I plan to be 285 .. I think thats a reasonable goal ..gives me two and a half months ...

I am doing it... for my health and for a full and happy life. I love myself finally .. I think when I recieved the hair cut I realize how awful my life has been for the past three and a half years with my ex bf ..I mean he was so controlling he wouldn't let me cut my hair ...so it had shape..
well it has shape now! I love it, and I bought a new type of haircut and my hair sylists agreed it looks better than the other one that she has done for me twice before to make my bf happy! It was a good style, but I feel so beautiful now.

I will post new pics asap ...

and thanks for stopping into my diary everyone! You all Rock, big time!!

Haircuts are a wonderful way to make us feel good about ourselves. I'm overdue for one certainly! I think its wonderful to pamper yourself a bit while losing weight. I find that I spend a lot of time frustrated and/or angry with myself that I ever let my weight get so far out of control as it did... A little (non-food) pampering goes a long way to repairing my constant self-ego-damage. It helps me say... "Yea world, I'm beautiful too. Even if I am overweight."

I was thinking of celebrating my 10lb mark with a pedicure and maybe my 20lb mark with a professional massage.

'Grats on keeping the activity up!

Hi Healthy!
I kind of feel like I am trying to match everyones challenges. I consider weight loss a challenge I am ready to take on and will ...
I do five miles of bike riding to seven miles ..
and an hour of walking .. don't know how many miles that is ...
but u can try to match it or go over it ...
You can always do some sprints, I did four sprints the other day.. my goal by Friday is to be doing ten sprints ...
wish me the best!

maybe you can match that and I will give you a HUGE glove clap if you can do even the littlest thing!

I think its wondeful you are reaching out to people and are so bold ..
I know you will reach your goals!

You Rock Girl! Keep trecking!

Thanks Jenna and Sunny,

Jenna, I know, it does feel good to be moving down a size... ahh ..it is wonderful to know my hard work is paying off...

and Sunny .. thanks .. the sprints were from an idea on this site. Someone else, or some others are doing sprints and I wondered if I could do such a huge move... sprints... last time I did anything like sprints since I was a freshman in high school ...
So I did it to see if I could, I ran across the lawn which is one fourth a mile and touched the plans low to the ground. And than I ran to the other side...
I was thrilled to find I was capable to do it...and and and ..its all fenced in .. my lawn is huge and so I am using it for weight loss and gaining muscle, expanding my lungs and just vegging out there. We have this beautiful garden out back...

I am so freaking thrilled about what I am doing and my life right now, the only thing is I haven't volunteered at the library for three weeks since the children's festival ... but I will be volunteering next Friday .. should be fun ..its air conditioned! always nice! lol

Got it! I'm going to try to tackle the 1 hour of walking and 5-7 miles on a bike between today and tomorrow. I'll even give the sprints a try!

Good luck on doing 10. I think I'd fall over after 5. :jump:

Yea, I can run but not very far. What I've been doing is steadily increasing the pace of my walks until its easier to jog/run than it is to keep the walking pace I was at. Then I run until my heart-rate feels out of control and come back to a walk (never stopping). Next time you go out on a walk, give it a try. Don't worry if you don't get very far. The first time I did it, I didn't even run half a block. *Huff Puff Huff Puff* Phew.

I think sprints are much harder. They require large bursts of energy.
