As the title says, my goal is to be in the best shape of my adult life. I'm only counting from college on, I don't want to be unrealistic. I've been in pretty good shape many times along the way. In my late 20's I lifted a lot and bulked up. But even then, I had a little bit of a gut. After getting married, having my 1st child and building a house all in the same year, I went up to 240 Lbs.. That was about 8 years ago. 3 years ago I lost that and came down to 185, I'm now back to 200. I'm stopping it here and will return to 185. This time I want the 185 to include more muscle mass though. I don't want to bulk up at all. I already have a big frame for my size at 5'-10". I want to lose weight and tone.
I started this a couple of weeks ago and I seem to be doing pretty well. I was at 204, now 200 and I'm back to exercising. I play hockey every Wednesday and yoga on Monday nights. Don't laugh at the yoga, It's a power yoga class for 1 1/2 hours and it's probably the most strenuous workout I've ever done. The yoga is the only strength training I'm going to do, my muscles are sore the next few days, so I know it's working. Other than that, I will try to hit the treadmill a few times a week. With 4 kids, 8,6,5, and 1, it's hard to find time. But, if I wait til they are in bed I can go to the basement and walk/run. That sounds easy, but it's easier to sit down and watch The Biggest Loser. That's were I need this, and you, to remind me to keep doing it.
Eating - Love pizza, can't eat it. I lost the weight before on a strict low carb diet. I don't intend to be strict, but I am definitely going to cut out bad carbs and increase protein. If I only eat small, only when I'm hungry, I think it will work. I turn 40 March 14, 2008. I can do this. A six-pack would be great. I've never had one, not even in HS playing football. Thanks for reading and I would love to hear from you with advice or anything. I am going to read around and visit some of you.
thanks again,
