Becoming a Beauty Queen in 2013 ;)

New diary for the New Year. :)

My short term goal for this year is to come out of the "Severely Obese" range. My past couple of weigh ins are:
1/2 - 282.4
1/5 - 279.2
I'll be weighing in again on Friday. To reach my short term goal, I will need to weigh 220lbs. I am hoping to accomplish this by May 31. My long term goal for this year is to finally kick obesity in the @$$. In order to do this I would need to lose 116.2 lbs to reach the weight of 163lbs. I am hoping to accomplish this by December 31, 2013. My plan of attack is to replace emotional eating with exercise, and to consume more fruits and veggies. I will be joining Curves again on 1/11. I will be working out 4 days a week. I also plan to include some yoga and stretching.

School started up again this week, so I may be a little scant, but I will try to update as often as I can.

Hey lovely! Good luck!
We have really similar weights/goals!!!
I am 272 lbs and my goal is to get down to 232 by beginning of May (attending a wedding, need a dress)

WE CAN DO THIS!!!

Sounds like you have a good plan.
Good luck with it!
Thanks so much mrxian :D
You stole my thread title from me. :D

Good luck on the new plan!
:rotflmao: You're becoming a beautyqueen too?! lol Well you did do a great job on weight loss this week as seen in the January Challenge thread. Good luck!

Thanks so much Justina :) Yes we are similar in weight and goal...so you know I'll be all over your diary like white on rice :D We can totally do this!!! Thanks so much for the support:party: I'm on Team Victory in the challenge.

Hey, yeah, i think the WL challenge will be totally motivating!!!

Look forward to reading more on your progress! :)

Well just stepped off the scale and still exactly 279.2. It's still a 3.2 lb loss from last week but I think I really lost more as I'm really bloated today. Ah well...I guess we'll see on next week Friday. At least it's not a gain!
1/2 - 282.4
1/5 - 279.2
1/11 - 279.2

Don't worry about it, small fluctuations are quite normal. I'm sure you'll weigh in a lot lower next time.

Thanks so much mrxian and anna.banana :)

I wanted to go to the gym today but looks like that isn't happening so I guess I will just be walking and doing strength training today :)

Hey you!! It will go down!!!
Walking is just as good! As long as you can do some sort of excercize, its great!
Have a nice weekend lovely! :)

Yay, shiny new diary! Love it lol.

Hope you had a nice walk! I don't even have the option of a gym here, I just have my messy little 'workout space' which is also my husbands computer area. The cats are pretty keen to park there while I'm exercising too.

Hope you're having a good weekend!

LOL @ the cats parking in your exercise space. They're probably thinking "she's doing it again...let's watch." :) I have always wanted a kitty but never had one. The walk was good, went to the university with my husband and son and had a walk around. The part of the campus my classes are on is more newly built and they did a hell of a job with the architecture and landscaping.

Well I finally feel a little more awake today so I think I'll post a bit more. The first week of school was so wild, but I'm excited about the courses I'm taking this semester. My last chemistry prof was so terrible he managed to scare me off from chemistry for a while--darn Brits! :D j/k The material really wasn't hard but he was so obscure and not a fair grader. I remember I once handed him in homework and he gave it back to me in exactly one minute with one point taken off every answer! No way on earth he read through all of that so fast. He was nice to talk to tho, and kept sitting beside me in class which I thought was hilarious. My chemistry prof this semester seems so professional and capable so far. Very clear and concise. I am actually quite surprised I remember so much--I have this problem where I keep feeling like I am not good enough to tutor because I cannot remember everything, but maybe I am wrong. The other school I was at really wanted me to tutor math and english--I probably should've done it. Also taking stellar astrophysics this semester which I am totally stoked about. This is my first astrophysics class ever. After first lecture I realise the importance of modern physics in this class and I am so happy I took it prior to this class.

Eating was not so great these past two days...not eating enough and not eating the right things. Both traits of exhaustion for me. Fruits somehow disappeared so I have to go to the store again today. I love apples and grapes but can also tolerate bananas and mangos so I get them too sometimes. I love almost every veggie, even raw kale. I just have to get used to spending a little time preparing my food and break away from the convenience of take away foods. I'm trying to return to a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. I was vegetarian for 5 years and vegan for 2, and although I did not lose weight in that time, my weight stayed constant at 190. As soon as I started eating meats again, I gained 90 lbs--literally in the same year. The problem is not the meat consumption, but the way I enjoy my meats prepared, and I seem unable to deviate from that. My highest weight ever was 298 (not including pregnancy)..that was in 2007. Since the end of 2009, I have been fluctuating between the 260s and 270s and am so tired of it. Thus I set really specific goals for this year and am looking forward to achieving them :)

--darn Brits! :D j/k

LOL - a person would think that an English person was nagging you or something.... :smilielol5::smilielol5:

I am sure that you will all do brilliantly in the challenge and see some real progress towards your 2013 project.

I will make sure of it :rotflmao:

This is going to be a good year for us all.

It will be tricky finding the time to exercise while you are studying but it will be very much worth your while. Our bodies appreciate exercise (we only need take stock of the size we get to if we don't exercise and we know that is true). Continue making that investment in time and effort and you will get the rewards.

Walking is a brilliant form of exercise. It was my main form of exercise when I did my big project a few years ago. I did such a lot of outdoor walking it was silly as my husband only got me the treadmill after I had brought my weight down - because I had accepted that I would need to do exercise every day into the future if I wanted to keep my weight down.

As you noted - convenience foods can be a killer for weight control. If you can avoid them it would be good.

Fruit and vegetables are a good area to focus on. Especially vegetables... I love lots of both of them - but have to try to keep some sort of control on the fruit side as I am apt to want to eat too much of them... Not because I am hungry but because I like them... they contain calories and sugars and can reduce or steal weight loss for me.

I once took a college course called "the history of television." I failed...

ha...seriously I would totally fail that too. I SUCK at history and anything requiring me to remember a historical timeline. But give me a timeline with a sequence of chemical or physical events and I am totally there :D

WOW you were vegetarian for 5 years!! me and my husband tried it - we lasted a week! How do you prepare you meat btw? Just curious what's wrong with that.
Anyway, we are doing a plant based diet now, but not exclusively. When we eat meat/dairy we buy good quality (organic) if possible.

You will reach your goals this year. YOU. CAN. DO. IT!

Come on Xenon - your my "weight-loss" buddy!!! :D

Ah yes..that professor was from England. He used to poke fun at us Americans and revel in his Britishness:smilielol5: He was a lot of fun, but I think he should have remained a bodybuilder or stayed in the research aspect of chemistry.

Thanks so much Omega! I really appreciate your investment of time into me...I'd like to think I'm worth it, but I guess we'll see. Regarding the exercise, I am thinking of using my gym at school. I am there four days a week, and I believe the gym is free to students. There is an entire building designated to athletics with indoor swimming pools and such...it is like a mega gym. I'm sure it is equivalent to the "college of fitness" for fitness majors. Anyways regarding the exercise, I plan on alternating between the elliptical and the crosstrainer. I also tend to dance around the house quite a bit.

Fruits are good for me because they keep away the sweet cravings and I tend to keep my consumption of them in check. I totally love veggies and once I get in the groove of things can be totally satisfied with a diet consisting mostly of fruits and veggies.
