Beagle's New Journal

I usta put everything on my sandwiches, but now I just do the mustard, and yeah, ya can't tell!! Still tastes yummy with less calories...

I'm with Jess I used to put lots of stuff on my sandwiches but now I just stick to mustard :) You're still doing great!!!

I used to put mustard on absolutely everything I could, and lots of it, but eventually I just got sick of it, so now I only use mustard very sparingly where I need just a little more flavour, like on big sandwiches, and sometimes on perogies if we're out of sour cream.

Oooh, guess what? I FINALLY got my ab roller in the mail! I can't wait to get home to try it out! Though, I will say I'm rather upset it took this long. I emailed the customer support like two weeks ago, and they told me it had been shipped to the wrong address. How do you do that?! Ugh, at least I eventually got it. Now I owe my mom like $7 for the Duty fees, but I think its worth it if I can finally do situps without killing my back :)

I have seen the ab rollers advertised. I am interested to see how you like yours. Keep us updated! :)

I always hated mustard. I was a big mayo person myself. Funny what you learn to like when your dieting. lol. Turns out, mustard aint half bad afterall. :)

Hey Buddy! :D

Just wanted to pop in and see how you were doing. Looks like you're doing great! I will be awaiting to hear how you like your ab roller! I used to have one. Now I Just do plain ole crunches on a ball, or on the floor. but it does strain the back at times! Once you strength those ab muscles they'll better support your back and the better off you'll be. Its just.. kind of a catch-22 trying to get to that point!! :O

Hope you have a great weekend!!

Holey-freakin-moley, I feel the burn! Lol, it took me over half an hour to get the stupid abroller put together, but I'm glad I did! I definitely feel the muscle soreness in my belly. Though... it seems to be the upper part of my belly that I feel it in, rather than the lower part I was expecting. Am I doing it wrong?

In any case I think I got about 50 situps/crunches in, in sets of 20 (had to stop halfway through the last one :p). And then just because I was feeling pumped got 10 girly pushups in too (the kind where you're on your knees instead of toes). Not a lot in the big picture, but I have to start somewhere, right?

I feel good :D

Word to the wise: The McDonald's Chicken Ranch sandwich, or whatever its called, is the SICKEST sandwich I have ever tasted. I was expecting a McGrill breast, and got a McChicken pattie (about 100 calories more, and so gross tasting), and also the bacon was only barely cooked. Yuck. And it made me go over my 1300 limit!

By the way, next week I'm going to try reducing or even completley cutting my carbs since I know that has worked in the past, and a health-nut friend told me that people with eastern european heritage like mine (I'm a euro-mutt, but mostly ukranian) are especially prone to gaining and holding onto carb weight. So instead of veggie subs, I'll get veggie wraps, and such.

Morning Beagle!! :)
Glad you like your ab roller. To focus more on your lower abdominal muscles, try laying on the floor with your legs straight out, you can cross your ankles, and see if you feel it more in your lower abdomen. Let me know how that goes ! :)

As for the ranch sandwich from McDonalds, yeah I've had that too, it is disgusting!! Sorry you had to spoil calories on that! :( I really like their salads, so if you havne't given those a try, (but specify grilled chicken otherwise you get crispy!) they're pretty tasty! I only use a minimal bit of dressing. In fact, I try and get used to it with out dressing really at all! Saves a lot of calories! :D

Good luck with your weekend, I am sure you'll do great.and enjoy the burn!!! :D

I will try your suggestion to lay my legs on the floor when I next do my situps (probably tonight)! I actually got another 20-rep in last night while playing video games. I made a promise to myself that every time our group was 'wiped' (everyone dies) I would do another rep since it takes us about 5 minutes to all recover and get going again. Thank goodness we only wiped once, because I almost couldn't finish the rep after having already done 50 barely three hours earlier:p

I have a quick general question maybe someone can help me with: how the heck do you seperate eggs? A few people here have told me that having just the egg whites is much lower-cal than the whole egg but still pretty filling, but I'm not sure exactly how to do this, and don't want to waste a bunch of eggs trying to figure it out myself. I remember when I was a kid, I read an Amelia Bedelia book where she had to seperate two egs, and she just put them in opposite corners of the room... but I don't think that's the right way ;)

hey ya Beagle, how's it goin'? To separate eggs, crack the shell in half and "juggle" the yolk between the halves of shell until all the white is in the bowl. Another method, the sickest method but the easiest, is to crack an egg into a bowl, pour the whole thing into your hand and let the whites go between your fingers into another bowl.
I hear ya on the back support. I now do crunches and push ups on my body ball. I get all the support I need and I get a better range of motion so I get more out of the work out. Love my body ball :D
That sandwich DOES sound disgusting!!!! LOL I can't eat at mc d's b/c they put onions in almost everything, but that sandwich didn't even SOUND good!! LOL ick! :D
have a great day and keep up the good work :D

See, I thought it would be good, because a number of times at "real" restraunts when I've ordered a chicken ranch sandwich it is absolutely delicious without being sickeningly fattening! Silly me for expecting the same thing from McDonalds :(

Credit where its due, I do like their salads, especially the bacon ranch with grilled chicken, they're just too big for me and so darned expensive it not usually worth getting them.

Anyways, I just finished work and surprisingly, don't feel exhausted at all like I usually do at this time of day. I think a lot of it had to do with going to bed really early last night (9pm instead of my usually midnightish) and getting a proper nights sleep. My sister called my cellphone last night, and I didn't even hear it, and my ringer is really loud and annoying! I kind of feel bad for not getting up though, because she was probably calling to tell me she was locked out when she got home an hour after curfew, and probably had to wake our mom up to let her in :(

I'm also shocked that I have nearly 600 calories left today for dinner! Does this mean I can actually have something I truly enjoy?! What a change!

Hey Beagle, get a chance to try those.. leg straight sit ups? :) Hope you feel some difference! Sounds like you're doing really great.. Congrats on having 600 calories left over woohoo!! :) That is ALWAYS fun! :)

Nope not yet, I'm taking a couple of hours after getting home from work to relax my stressed mind before I start stressing my muscles too ;) I plan on doing my exercising right after dinner!

It's always fun to have that many calories left over for dinner! It's like a little surprise a the end of the day :) Then you get to play around with what you want to eat a little bit more! Anyway, you're doing a great job! Keep it up!

Bjork

Wow, dinner was pretty small today, even with a small dessert, I had 225 calories left in the day. Not too often that happens :) I almost had a bowl of ice cream to celebrate, but I know full well I couldn't have just a half-cup (which would have been about 200 calories), that's barely any at all!

Got in about 25 minutes of biking, and only 1 rep of 20 situps (still a bit sore from yesterday!). I did try them with my legs down, and they were hard than expected, and definitely targeted lower muscles, so I'll try and mix it up between the two. Didn't even try to do more pushups today since the 'armpit muscles' are especially tender today. Maybe tomorrow.

Well, I'm off to transfer a bunch of photos from my digital camera to my computer and then somehow pull a short essay out of them. I both love and hate these 'novel' assignments this prof gives, because they are really interesting, but I have no experience with them so I don't know where to start! I'll take a boring 5-section formal paper anyday. Pardon my french, but I can bullshit my way through those with my eyes closed! :D

Hi Beagle, great job on the calories and skippin' the ice cream yesterday! Personally, I agree. A half cup isn't, what, maybe two bites??!! LOL Okay, if you have a big mouth like I do its one, but hey, whos countin'?!!! hehehehe Great jobby on the exercisin' too :D Have fun with your photo assignment. It sounds really interesting. Have a great day and keep up the momentum :D

good for u beagle on the load of cals left! and still u maintained a lot of control! and look at your exercise! great job!!

Beagle, wow you're doing great!! :) Glad my direction on the ab roller was on track. :) I haven't used on ein a long time, but i still remember that being a good way to target those lower abdominals. You're motivating me to get some crunches in today too!! Thanks!

As for the assignment, good luck.. :) I'm honestly thinking of goin gback to take a creative writin college course this summer! Just to brush up on the skills. ;)

Keep up the great work!! I'm thrilled to have you as my "buddy"!!
