Bassackwards diary

I really should have started a diary at the beginning of my journey...but I didn't. I am now at my goal weight and trying to figure out how to move to maintainance.

I feel like I need the support of this forum to keep myself on track, even if it's reading more than posting.

I bought new workout wear today and shocked myself by purchasing a combined size 7/9. They might be a tad snug, but the 11/13 was just too darn big. I started my journey by cramming my butt into a rather large size 14.

I will attempt to be more supportive of my fellow WLF members...I know I'm not much help when I'm just reading instead of posting. I will try to do better in the future.

I really do appreciate this forum more than I can properly express!:grouphug:

IME, it sucks for about a month, then gets better. Hang in there.

I found that letting the scale go down a few pounds below goal meant that when I bumped my calories up to maintenance level, I settled in at a weight that was at or a bit below goal. When I switched to maintaining when I'd seen goal (but not much below) for a week, I settled in a couple pounds higher than goal. And going back to losing, when I was mentally prepared to be done, really sucked.

You might be an even smaller size in misses (even sizes). Juniors (odd sizes) are cut differently. I've got some generously-cut size 6 pants that fit a bit big, and some size 15 jeans that are still kind of tight through the leg.

Thanks allypho! My weight is still bouncing around a good bit, I'm 2.2 over goal today. I guess I'm not quite ready to go for maintainance....I need to get solidly at 155 first.

Even tho it's a kick to get into a small size, it's not the be all, end all. Nobody sees the size sticker on my clothing. :)

I'd agree with ally as well - do venture out of the juniors department - misses sizes are cut more for women - rather than teenage girls and stuff tends to be a little roomier (smaller wsize for the ego, if nothing else) but they also tend to fit a little better...

I'd also not get too hung up on a specific weight - because as you know it will flucatute.. 2lbs -who really cares - who really knows how much you weigh anyhow... you don't wander around witha sign - (though when I get close to my goal _i will have I lost 230lbs tattooed on my forehead :D

If you're happy with what you see in the mirror - well then Survey says GOAL!!! you made it.. now work on staying there ..

My weight is still bouncing around a good bit

Bear in mind that you'll normally fluctuate a couple pounds up or down even once you've settled into maintenance. My high for the last month was 127.6, and my low was 123.6, so about a 4-pound (or +/- 1.6%) range. I keep my calories / exercise / sodium / time of day and clothing status when I weigh / other stuff within my control pretty consistent. So those 4 pounds of swing are driven by factors I can't control.

I want a picture when you get that tattoo on your forehead. :)

Last night I was reading the June issue of Good Housekeeping and the cover story was about women who have lost massive amounts of weight by walking.

The one woman reminded me of me a lot. There are so many days that I have a running battle in my head over exercise. The thought of getting on the Nordic Track is just the last thing I wanna do. So I make a deal with myself....I'll put on my shoes and start. I don't have to go 30 minutes, I can quit if I want to. This mental battle frequently goes on through the entire workout...but I finish it. :)

You don't have to commit to finishing your workout when you start it....just start moving.

Hey Judy :)

Thanx for stopping by my diary :D Thought i would come and check yours out:waving:

Well done you for almost getting to goal:hurray: I def wish that i was in your shoes but hopefully soon i will be :D

:seeya:

Thanks Tinkerbella. I love your nic. I'm not creative...my name is Judy. lol

It occurred to me that my post about the lady in the Good Housekeeping article might be a bit disjointed and rambling. The reason she reminded me of me, is because she frequently argues with herself about getting out to walk. She tells herself that she will just put her shoes on and go outside...she does not have to walk anywhere. That's pretty much the same pattern I follow to convince myself to start moving when I really do NOT want to exercise.

:)

I love the title of your diary :) My mother used to say Bassackwards all of the time, hehe...

I completely understand what you mean about getting dressed and putting the shoes on is the biggest part of it. If I can usually get myself dressed and to the gym, I've already won most of the battle;)

Have a great weekend,
Sam

Good morning Sammyboy. Thanks for the compliment. Maybe bassackwards is a term used by Utah moms. lol

If there were those cartoon like thought bubbles over my head when i'm working out - those thoughts could be easily read... generally my ipod is on loud enough to drown out the voices...

Usually the running commentary is that you got dressed and what you're wearing is going to go into the laundry anyhow -so you might as well make it a good one... see it's laziness that keeps me going.. I'd get annoyed if I had to wash almost clean clothes... :D

So, dumb question...how do I embed a picture in my post? We went hiking today to an old stone fire lookout and I wanted to post a couple of pics, but I can't figure out how.

you can upload pictures to your photo gallery....

you can upload them to free sites like or one of the tons of free sites on the web and link them.

or you can use the upload feature in your posts -but the picture has to be a certain size -and the picture uploaded becomes a link you can clic on to view..

or just go to the before and after - and do the same thing and youc an post links to pics.. (the before and after forum has instructions on how to upload)

I have the pictures on photobucket...I just can't figure out how to embed a pic in the post here as I've seen others do.

I think I can successfully link to it...but I can't figure out how to embed the pic.

the diary forum doesn't allow for embeddig - you can use the upload feature and that's it - and the upload feature just gives youa thumbnail

go to before and after and do exactly what you did and it will embed in that forum

Diaries do not

I saw the link to this idel body measurement calculator on Mal's diary and thought I'd give it a shot...

Ideal Measurements - Ideal Body Measurements - Grecian Ideal - Greek Proportions - Fitness.com - Free Exercises, Fitness Equipment, Customized Workout, Fitness Programs, Fitness Articles, Beauty Fitness, Weight Loss, Weight Training, Diet Plans

Your ideal body measurements are:

Chest Size: 39.0--mine--38
Forearm Size: 11.3--mine--9.5
Waist Size: 27.3--mine--31
Thigh Size: 20.7--mine--20
Hip Size: 33.2--mine--39
Calf Size: 13.3--mine--16
Biceps Size: 14.0--mine--11
Neck Size: 14.4--mine--14

Assuming that I measured in the proper spots...I am obviously far from "ideal". But then I'm not surprised by that fact either. :)

you're pretty darned close...

I'd love to see the suggestions on how to get the calf size down... :) it's taken me 2 years to lose about 3 inches off each calf - and i'm still about 3 1/2 inches away from ideal :D
