Bassackwards diary

LOL..hilarious! Sometimes it helps to get a little affirmation. I like to dress sexyISH, but not too obvious like with high heels and stuff. But it seems nowadays every shirt is cleavage popping..they are just so low cut these days. But it sounds like you can still carry off a mini skirt with those legs!
Awww...thanks. Some places are more appropriate for sexy attire than others and since I work in bars and have no boobs I can get away with wearing less clothing w/o looking like a complete trollop. lol

Hey Sammy, thanks for stopping by. yep, there are advantages to being 6' tall. 50 excess pounds on someone 5' tall would make them a lot more round than it did me. I tipped the scales over 200 when I started my weight loss journey....but I was still able to wear a size 14 due to my height. I'm currently 154-155 and my last pair of jeans was a size 8. :)

I think every state has it's own form of crazy weather. Oddly, Utah and VA have very similar climates and weather patterns (other than humidity). We've been in the 90s this week with heat indexes of 110+. I don't think I will ever adapt to the humidity here.

What i wouldn't give for a lovely hot day! All we have had all week is rain, rain, rain :( Very depressing!!

Rain can be depressing...you have my sympathy. I don't mind the heat if I can stay at home and jump in the pool. (Don't be jealous, it's just a cheapo above ground pool from walmart...but it's wet and cooling).

Last Friday night I was seriously hating the heat when the AC was out at work and I discovered that my pink shirt was showing sweat stains something awful. Not the underarm area...anywhere it brushed against my body. I sweat way too much to be considered feminine or attractive. AC and fans are necessities in my world.

Just book a flight into Dulles airport and I'll come pick you up. I may not be high class but I do know how to offer you the shade from the vehicle up on blocks before we cool ourselves in the walmart pool. Or we could go jump into the river...it's only a few hundred feet away. :)

Oh the temptation!! It sounds AMAZING and i am sooo jealous! Hopefully we might see a few sunbeams here this summer (i believe there was once a summer that was good many years ago!) but if not then i may well be plane hopping throughout the summer hols! :p

So...I attended a friend's wedding reception yesterday. I wasn't sure if it was going to be a full dinner or just hors d’oeuvres. It began at 6:30 so I kinda thought they might be planning a full meal but I wasn't sure...and we had to leave home at 5:30 to get there on time. So...I had a little potato salad and some grapes before going, just in case. :)

It turned out to be a full buffet, open bar and 2 kinds of wedding cake. I ate way too much and I honestly have no idea to how to begin counting the calories because I ate a little bit of soooooo many different foods.

I'm dangerous around buffets cuz everything looks so good that I want to try just a bit...and before you know it my plate is loaded and then some.

The scale only shows .2 pounds this morning...but I know how fattening foods hide for a day or two before showing up.

Somehow I seem to have gotten away with my splurge at the wedding reception. I was 153.6 this morning. :) That ties my previous low weight and I'm happy with that as I'm trying to find a maintainance level right now.

Glad to hear your in the clear it seems as far as the splurge goes :)

Free delicious food at a wedding and an open bar would be a deal breaker for me for sure...

I read in your bio that your into karokee :) I tend not to sing but my BFF lives for it, and shes really good too, so it's fun to go out with her and pick her songs. I always make her do "Let's Stay Together" and it is always a hit and gives me such a warm feeling inside. She's really good at Toni Braxton songs too because her voice is kind of similar... Karokee can be lots of fun.

Have a great nite,
Sam

Good morning Sam. I make my lving by being a KJ. When I lived in Salt Lake I had karaoke shows at City Limits (sold to new owners and the name changed), Good Spirits (it used to be on State Street in Murray where the new hospital complex is, they moved to 39th S) The Westerner (huge club on Redwood Road), Club Maxx (in the Doubletree hotel) and several other places that were smaller or obscure. I worked 6 nights a week back then. Now I work one night a week cuz I'm too lazy to get out and try to book more shows. :)

152 this morning and I'm not sure why...but I'll take it, I can always put weight back on.

Hmmm. I've only heard of The Westerner, and I've never been there yet. My friend who likes to karokee with me, we like some of the smaller places and some of the others too... Lately, we've been to: Piper Down (about 14th south and state), Paper Moon (lesbian bar on 37th south and state), Barbary Coast (biker bar she used to cocktail waitress at on stateish), ughh. The Highlander... and we've yet to try Maggie McGees, in Holladay but, a few of my other friends like it pretty well... I'm going to The Tavernacle here weekend after this next one, and it's pretty fun, so I'm excited. We haven't been out that much lately... We also went to the Circle Lounge awhile back, its a sushi bar/club thing that also did karokee that night... Not too bad.... There are still quite a few bars I need to visit here in SLC...

Paper moon has been around forever. I think I've been there once. I did a couple of karaoke shows at gay/lesbian bars in the downtown area. They got closed down when the city was "cleaning up" the downtown district in preparation for the Olympics. I think I've been to Maggie McGee's... Is it in a strip mall and you go down a steep flight of stair to get to it?

Bars come and go pretty reguarly so it's not surprising that you haven't heard of most of the places that I worked....and you really cannot expect to hit every bar in the SLC area w/o developing a serious drinking problem. lol For a Mormon state, there's a lot of alcohol consumption. :)

You bet there is a lot of alcohol consumption in UT, lol!

They are trying to make it now so that you don't have to have a membership to get into many of the bars and clubs here, which you currently do, I don't know if you remember. All the mormon legislators and objecters are arguing "But then you will know who is drinking" because your name gets entered into the registry or something when you get the membership that is required to drink there/here.... This state for sure can be bassackwards with all the closet alcoholics they have goin around...

Paper Moon was lots of fun. I would totally go back, and I thought their karokee was full of a wide range of songs, so it was good. Great atomosphere and no complaints, except having to buy the membership to get in there.... Maggie McGees is in a strip mall, some place you wouldn't expect it to be... I still have yet to go there but my friends seem to like it. There are still some gay bars in downtown SLC, like the Trapp and Trapp Door, and Triangles, and I haven't been to any of them yet.... I will though, eventually.

It was a brisk morning here so I decided to take my workout outdoors. Jack (my dog) and I went for a jog and I managed to run for 30 minutes straight, on a slight incline. I live very close to national forest, in fact my land abuts it....but we ran up the road a bit so we could do the run in a state park.

The air was filled with the scent of skunk and I was thinking how unfair it was that I was running in this idyllic setting, yet skunk was the ambiance....and then we scared up a couple of eagles. Oh my gosh!! They were huge and gorgeous. The one flew away, the other one kept flying ahead of us, landing in another tree and then taking off again as we got close.

So, we jogged to the picnic area (2.7 miles in 30 minutes) and then turned to walk/run back home. I could have done more running but Jack was acting pretty tired. I did do 5 segments of running as fast as I could for a count of 60, then walked for a count of 60. After that we just walked.

On the down side, I need new shoes....I put a blister on my foot at the base of my big toe. I could feel my shoe was rubbing, but not until well over half way through...and then there was no choice but to continue on for home.

....I put a blister on my foot at the base of my big toe.

Blisters can also be caused by your socks as well... while shoes are a good bet - socks can also be the culprit... so treat yourself to a new pair :)

I know my shoes are hammered...I can see the interior lining is worn out (holes) but I always dread bying new shoes. Of course, my socks could probably stand to be replaced too. lol I tend to dress like a bum around the house cuz I figure nobody is gonna see me. :)

Hey there Judy :)

Glad to hear you went for a nice jog with the dog. When I go running in the gully by my house, there are always people with their dogs down there. It makes me want a dog again so bad! Not yet though... I just make my bro's friends bring theirs over so I can get my "fix" for awhile...

Blisters used to be an everyday thing for me. A new pair of shoes might do you some good. I finally got a pair a few months ago that finally seems to fit my foot correctly. They are Asics and they are made for flat feet, which I have. No blisters yet. Back when I did have blisters though, I would tape them with medical tape so they wouldn't affect my runs... I hope you find a nice pair that fit your feet nicely. Everyone has such different feet, it is crazy. I highly recommend the Asics brand though, especially with the gel structures they have in them. I do feel like they cushion my feet better than any other pair of running shoes I've ever had, and absorb some of the shock too... jmo

Have a great day,
Sam

I hope to find someone local that sells the Asics trail runner. It sounds like a great shoe for my needs...but I wanna feel it on my foot and check the sizing before ordering it sight unseen.

Oh...and I had to whine about getting a puppy for a few years before BF finally got me one for Christmas. He had a hard time getting over his last dog and wasn't ready to give his heart to another dog again until recently.

We always had dogs growing up. Our last one kept getting melanomas and it was really sad. Finally we quit spending the fortune it cost to get them removed and he got pretty sick after awhile... We had him put down and it was tough. I miss him dearly. He was a Whippet (think Italian greyhound) and his name was Hootie (we got him in the mid nineties when Hootie and the Blowfish was pretty popular). A dog right now just doesn't fit into my lifestyle. I'm gone all the time plus I rent, so it wouldn't be fair to the dog or the landlord... I'm absolutely positively a dog person though. One day I shall have one again I remind myself....

So I was naughty yesterday and had a plate full of tortilla chips with cheese and salsa. Today I weight 3 pounds more. I know it can't possibly be fat but it's still a disturbing number. I'll behave today and hopefully it will be gone tomorrow. Maybe it's just the salt making me hold water. lol

Okay, I'm hoping that Steve can give me some tips on getting rid of my gut and he asked for my stats on another thread but I figured my diary would be a good place for them so I don't clutter up someone else's newcomer thread.

When I began my journey my measurements were 45-39-44. Those were the only ones I took.

So...I took thorough measurements today. I am 49 years old, 6' tall and female in case there was any question about that. :)

My shoe size is 10 or 11, depending on the manufacturer.

Ankle--9.5"--measured at the most slender portion
Calf--16"--measured at the thickest part
Thigh--19.25"--measured halfway between knee and hip
Upper thigh--21"--measured just beneath the buttock
Hips--38.5"--measured at widest portion
Abdomen--36"--measured about 1.5" beneath navel.
Waist--30.5"--measured at smallest place
Rib cage--34"--measured midway between waist and where the bottom of my bra band sits
Below bust--34"--where bra band sits
Bust--37.5--measured around fullest portion
Above bust--36"--measured just below arm joint
Neck--14.5"--measure with a slight dip as though wearing a necktie
Wrist--7"--measured at point where hand meets arm
Forearm--9.5"--measured midway between wrist and elbow
Bicep--11.25--measured around bicep

Weight--varies between 152 and 157

I know I've included some strange measurements but I do have a rather prominent rib cage and hopefully the other measurements will assist in determing my general build.

Now I just need to find Steve, direct him to this thread, find out if he needs more information....and wait for his advice.
