Back at it again at the Track

It's amazing the things you noticed when you lose weight. I remember suddenly noticing my collarbones. They were so hot! Haha.

An animation major is cool. I know nothing about image manipulation at all. I do lots of outdoor work and observing wildlife is part of the job, but that's the extent of "working with" animals. I survey for threatened and endangered animals, but a lot of my focus is plant based.

My favorite "little" thing so far with weight loss is being able to get into my jean pockets while seated. You aren't dealing with the same level of overweight as me so that likely doesn't apply, but I'm happy about it.

Mystic: xD

Q: oh that's cool! Plants are really cool too. :) hmm never had a problem getting into pockets but girls jeans usually has really tiny pockets so I never really keep much in them. :p

Went jogging this morning at the park and it was 27 degrees out!! I was literally thinking to myself "I've made a horrible horrible mistake" while holding my hands to my ears to keep them warm. I -almost- turned around after 3 minutes of walking but once I started jogging, I warmed up a lot and was quite comfortable by the time I finished my daily session. I hope it warms up a little bit soon! Tho i am a bit proud that I decided to stick with it today haha. I figured 'I'm already freezing and I'm already out here and it's only 30 minutes. Might as well get this over with.'

Looking into a few yoga programs to do on days inbetween my 5k training... I know absolutely nothing about yoga but I know I really need to work on my flexibility

Gained 1.2 lbs this week! Not surprised. The dinner menu this past week wasn't great haha. But I'm ok, 172 is still where I kind of expected to be by now and I still meet my goal weight for the month, but I still hope to reach the 160s by next week. I still feel like I made some good progress running too so... *shrug*

Gonna spend tonight and tomorrow doing a little more meal planning! I think I went hungry a few times this week a bit longer than I would have liked and being hungry is bad bad bad. Leads to poor meal decisions and I don't think its all that great for my personal body metabolism. Gotta step it up this week!!

The diet part is always the hardest for me to keep on top of and it plays the biggest role in your weight. That being said I usually have an uptick in weight when I start up a new exercise program. Gaining muscle is increasing your metabolic rate which burns more fat. In other words weight does not necessarily fat. The overall trend will be weight loss, but exercise increases lean mass while decreasing fat mass so fluctuations especially early are all part of the game. How your clothes fit and measurements are a great way to gauge whether you are progressing when the scale number stalls or rebounds. I had a point where I gained 6 pounds and got into a smaller sized jean at the same time.

Perfect isn't the goal. Consistent effort and a mindset to make improvements where needed is all you need. You doing this when you are young and in good health. You will forge a healthy lifestyle that will benefit you throughout your life. You've had a great start. Keep at it!

Thanks <3 I did re-measure myself and compared it to my measurements at the start of the month. I think I've lost about .5 inches all over? Idk haha. A coworker asked if I had lost weight today and that was a huge morale booster.

Just have to keep jogging! I don't expect the fat to hang on if I'm doing 5ks every day so I just have to keep focused. :)

Posting this here for motivation. My old before and after pics! On the left I was about 180lbs. This was taken on my trip to Italy and I remember being so depressed because I hated every picture I was in. On the right, I'm about 152lbs and at an art show next to my sculptures, about to graduate in a week. I remember how proud I was of my accomplishments and how great it felt... Just have to keep working! Can't give up!

Thanks! X)

Meh I know I said I was looking into doing yoga during my in-between days but I ended up just doing the elliptical at my apartment fitness center for 30 minutes. Feels ... Simpler. It said I burned 260 calories which was cool too.

Feeling kind of stressed. My second job implemented some new policies that really wouldn't make it worth my time working there. Been thinking about quitting for awhile but now I feel the time has come. It shouldn't hurt me too bad because it's not my main source of income but I'm really frustrated because I feel like these new policies are being directly implemented because of me. (i only work 1-2 days a week but I won 30$ gift card in employee contest. Now suddenly you're required to be available 3 days a week, though you might not be scheduled all 3 days, and if you don't work a week you don't get any employee benefits because it's "not fair" to the more full time staff.... Though when I tried to ask for more shifts in the past, I never got any because everyone else was 'so desparate for work hours' because they were cutting back. And weeks I haven't worked was because she didn't feel like scheduling me. This isn't even going into the gossip that runs rampant there.)

Anyway I really could be using my weekends to work on other things, and I picked up a small tutoring gig that pays half an entire shift's pay in a single hour of animation tutoring (plus it's way more fun). I'm feeling like it was a good run but my time there is pretty much at an end. I just can't deal with any pointless drama right now,

Thanks mystic :)

Man if only I could lose this last stubborn handful of chub on my belly. I think my diet goals can actually be broken down to "pieces of flab on the body the owner wants gone ASAP". I know the stomach chub is like... Level one and the thighs and face chub are more advanced levels that I've only scratched at in previous diets lol.

Still running and doing the elliptical. I really felt a difference after starting the elliptical this week. Don't know if it will show on the scale but I can definitely feel a change

It's great to vary your exercise, both muscle wise and boredom wise. Adding in some weights/or body weight exercises would probably also be great to add to preserve muscle mass (muscles burn more cals!). Though be aware that you may see water retention (scale will go up) as your body gets used to it!

That's a good idea!! I'll try to do weights at least once or twice a week I think.

I was doing so great this week until this morning. Today I had to meet someone about getting an intuos pen at 11 and I was in an absolute artistic buzz to get this custom amiibo done for my BF's birthday that I totally put off jogging and never got around to it. BF wanted to go to a county buffet and I did good avoiding the fried chicken and Mac and Cheese (got the steamed cabbage and boiled red potatoes) but I ended up getting a little grilled steak too. Aaand a piece of blueberry pie. I know my TOM is probably soon and I'm retaining a lot of water too. Ughhhh haha. Well there's more to life than the scale. Gonna try to work out tomorrow and watch what I eat so maybe my weigh in Sunday morning won't be so bad (I'm postponing for one day).

Here's the amiibo I did for my bf!

thanks guys! :)

Sitting pretty at 170.0 this morning. I went to log it in myFitnessPal and i realized I'm now the same weight I was last october (i sporadically tried to diet last year and failed a lot). Almost hard to believe that you can put on 9lbs in just 3.5 months. A few more weeks and I'll be back in the mid 160s hopefully, which is where i was last summer. Feels like travelling back through time.... though a lot less fun. I do think I have gained a little bit of muscle so I'm probably still slimmer than I was in October, which is fine with me.

I took measurements again today and I went down a few inches since feb 3 when i first measured. Down 4 inches in my midsection and 2 inches in my hips. Losing mass everywhere... Except my thighs. They only went down .5 in, though I don't expect to see progress in them any time soon. I gotta say though, my favorite pair of pants is so much easier and fun to wear now. There's a nice little area on my hip bones that's thinning out and feels so great as opposed to tight a month ago. The transition from holding my pants up with my stomach flab to using my hips has always been an awkward one for me though haha

Tried on a few things at the resale place that I'm still working at (for now) and saw some nice results. Got a couple of cute shirts. Didn't get totally depressed! Good day :)

Kind of a rocky week this past week, but that time of the month always is. I feel too sick to work out for a few days and end up eating crap. Good thing you can't gain it all back at once. Feels good to step on the scale and see that not that much has changed even when I break all my rules. This week will be better though.

Haven't been doing so great lately. It's been a really stressful summer. We got a new manager at work who basically had me working full time hours and she is a medley of mental and physical health issues so it's been really frustrating for months. I really want to get back on track with eating right and exercising. It's gonna be hard but I hope I can get back in that healthy mindset that I was in earlier this year.
