Back at it again at the Track

Been trying to diet an exercise more regularly and it's kinda been working. Things mostly started to kick off since I joined the YMCA mid February. So I basically gained all my weight back and then some, which is about... 20-25 lbs since exactly one year ago. I felt pretty ashamed but I've been working at it and I'm down to 187.4 as of this morning. I've actually been at a bit of a standstill on the scale for the past week and a half, mostly because of Lady Time I assume, so I kinda relaxed on the diet and ate a few more calories and it finally started to go back down again this morning. I know they say that muscle weighs more than fat, but I just want the scale to keep going down lol. I do feel like I have a little bit of muscle though.

anyways, my goal for march is to get to 180, which is 7.4 lbs from now.

Feeling kind of depressed. The scale just wont go down! I've been running/working out almost every day of the week and even though i feel a difference in my body, the scale doesnt change. I've been trying to focus on my running speed/distance more so than the scale but still, it's depressing to see that the number hasnt changed. I'm running farther than ever. Even running has been put into reverse too, since my shins started hurting my last run and my calves still feel like they are gonna explode. Gonna have to scale it back a bit... the depressing thing is, I never had this problem when I was 10/20 lbs lighter, so i cant help but feel like "if only i could lost like 10lbs, i could go farther!!' and it feels like a catch 22.

I probably need to be more strict about the diet but it's really hard when you feel bummed. I really love my whole wheat toast with jam in the morning but maybe I should stick to fruits... sigh

weight loss for march and april: +2

feeling a little bit better lately. I'm trying to take what I see on the scale with a grain of salt and focus on my running. I went back and redid a week or so in my 5k program because workouts were getting a little too intense for me. Originally my calves were killing me and my feet were going numb at the end of my runs, so I tweaked some of my stretching and changed my shoes. Today felt pretty good! Granted it was nice and cool out, but I could definitely tell that it was coming a little bit easier. 2.39 miles today and my record was on tuesday at 2.41. Really felt like garbage on Tuesday but that's probably from not being properly hydrated. I usually am sweating bullets now and I think ramping up the intensity has definitely made a difference> It's that really awkward time where you can feel changes in your body but you cant really see it on the scale yet.. My boyfriend says he can definitely tell that I've lost some weight. I wish I could see as much of a change in my body as I've seen from him and his workouts!

Well my actual scale weight is still fluctuating, but when I checked it this morning, it was on the downside, so I'm in a better mood... Now just keep going down!!!

I'm also testing out having store bought smoothies for breakfast instead of actually making food. Krogers has a nice buy one get one free deal going on with the Bolthouse Farms smoothies, and so far all the ones I've tasted have been really good. I might need to bring something extra with me to work to have as a follow up because they don't last that long in my stomach haha.

Hi taboo. While exercise is good for you, for many reasons, including giving you a feeling of well-being, what you eat, or not eat is much more important when it comes to reaching a healthy weight.
Think about it this way: If an overweight person is consuming 1,000 more calories than he is burning and wants to be in energy balance, he can do it by exercising. But exercise consumes far fewer calories than many people think. Thirty minutes of jogging or swimming might burn off 350 calories. Many people, fat or fit, can’t keep up a strenuous 30-minute exercise regimen, day in and day out. They might exercise a few times a week if that or they could achieve the same calorie reduction by eliminating two 16oz sodas each day.
I think a healthy diet is much more important, but diet, combined with exercise is the best for overall health. Too much exercise for me just makes me want to over-eat & I think most people over-estimate the calories burned with exercise & underestimate the calories eaten.
Re: your boyfriend & being able to see the results of his workouts. I only have to restrict my diet a little bit & my husband loses weight. Men & their metabolisms. Not fair!
Persevere honey & the scales will come down. How many calories a day do you think you eat and drink?
Sorry if I have gone on too long in your diary. I won't edit it but you can ignore it altogether if you like, xo Cate
