Much appreciated advice Hale. Could’ve been the knocks I took playing soccer as felt better today and spent 10 minutes on the rowing machine. Good morning workout. Also “enjoyed” the 5 am wake up to empty large containers of water to avoid flooding in my basement. Had to leave work at lunch to repeat the job. Long story about a roofer who reneged on his commitment to re shingle my roof last summer...

Good eating but 2,000. Played tennis tonight and the stupidly drank 2 glasses of wine over a lively discussion about the ‘Me Too’ movement with me, ever the wannabe socialist, taking the view that it is a great thing even if some innocent men are wrongly accused.

So, tack 250 calories on to the count.

Back at it tomorrow!

Sleep well!

Yikes - the roof and flooding sound like a real PIA. Hope you get that straightened out.

I'm thinking of starting a Feb Diet Challenge for those of us who need extra motivation. Interested?

Good for you!
That's a PIA alright about having to bucket water out of the basement!

It's not THAT bad. The drains on my roof are DONE! So I have to collect water in large containers in the northwest corner of my house so that the water does not flow under my basement door. The containers overflowed. We experienced a bit of ingress but nothing 8 or 9 towels couldn't sop up.

IT'S NOT THAT BAD! I'M OKAY! AND, most importantly, IT STOPPED RAINING. yay!

Ha!!!

I had a good workout and eats day.

Shake for breakfast, salad with chicken for lunch and a steak, risotto and cooked asparagus for dinner.

Finding that 10 minutes of rowing after 20 minutes on elliptical to be very challenging. Love it.

Wife is working late and I’m feeling lazy/tired. Just gonna chill, watch some hockey with my boys and get a good night’s sleep.

Big exercise day tomorrow!

Happy dreams!!!

Thanks, Brent. G & I don't celebrate "Australia Day". Don't get me wrong- we both feel very lucky to have been born in this country. We would feel much better about it if our country respected our indigenous people & refugees better. This will help explain how we feel-
"As Australians, we all want a day on which we can come together as a national community, to reflect on where we’re at and to celebrate what we are: a wonderfully diverse, open and free society. But January 26 is not that day.

On January 26, 1788, the First Fleet arrived at Port Jackson, and Arthur Phillip raised the Union Jack on the land of the Eora nation.

This was an invasion that had catastrophic and tragic consequences for all the peoples and nations who had lived here for tens of thousands of years, and for their descendants.

January 26 is a potent symbolic reminder of that history and continued efforts to airbrush it. To continue to celebrate Australia Day on January 26 is to participate in that cult of forgetfulness.

Australia has never undertaken a national truth and reconciliation process which would force us - and our governments - to acknowledge the history of what has happened and its contemporary consequences. It means the history continues.

Celebrating on a day that causes so much hurt and suffering to Aboriginal people does not unite us or bring us together.

It is time to change the date. "

I agree.

Our treatment of our First Nations is as worse or worse than that which occurred in Australia. Our "day" has raised some protests amongst First Nations. Most notably from a gentleman, poet, Chief and actor named Chief Dan George in 1967. Our problem is not the day (which commemorates Confederation) per se but the need to redress catastrophic wrongs that have been committed. Now, I am not a First Nations so the problem here may in fact be the "day", and I'm just perpetuating the paternalism.

In any event, thank you for this. You've taught me something, and I really appreciate it!

It is time to change the date. "[/QUOTE]

I thought you would understand that I wasn't trying to sound preachy. It would be much better to be able to celebrate being born into your country, without feeling shame.

My father was a preacher. If you told me everyone on this chat line was "going to Hell unless they repented their sins", that would sound a bit preachy, and bring back some fond memories...

Super day to end the first month of the rest of my life!

Good morning workout and a great soccer practice tonight.

Shake for breakfast. Smoked salmon and roast turkey wrap for lunch, turkey meatballs and pasta salad for dinner. Maybe 1700 calories.

Drinking my tea while my wife sips wine.

For what it is worth (less and less for me), down to 211 today. Happier to have a good day of eating and exercise.

New month in less than 90 minutes. Excited!

Yay! You did great! I actually quite love tea. You just reminded me of that. And it's great at night when I think I'm hungry but I'm really not. The warmth hits the spot.

Good job dude!

Meh workout this morning. Just happy I got there as yesterday was a BIG day for me exercise-wise.

Good eats today. Temptations brewing on the horizon. Gotta find my game plan and stick to it.

Sleep well everyone! Gonna try to wake up at 4:45 to exercise. That would be “unbrencedented”. Sorry for the bad humor!

I'm glad yesterday was so great.

You will not catch me waking up at 4:45 am to exercise. I'd rather go do it at 11 pm than that early in the morning. It really works for some people though.
