Ashys Diary

I've just had a look at your blog. Have you thought about experimenting with foods to help you with your cravings? Check out the calories of things you crave, find a lower calorie solution (or see if you can do it with portion control), incorporate it into your 1500 calorie plan, see how you go. Maybe put something mostly non-perishable into your bag to take out with you that you can adapt your diet around if you find yourself out too long?

Your self-reflection is good (particularly re back up plans), I think that's really important to making good choices in the future. Focus on making the right decisions today and learning from what you've done before.

Thanks for reading my blog Amy. I agree, I need to experiment with foods. Perhaps finding lower calorie recipes for my comfort foods. I feel that my comfort foods are really "I just don't give a damn" foods. When I am feeling down and out it is easy to be like whatever I don't care what I put in my body. And being around certain people can easily make me feel that way. So I kinda lost my mojo a little yesterday. I don't feel as invincible as I did before. But I am doing better today and I think invincible is not something to aim for. I think confidence is something to aim for and that includes the ability to pick myself up when I get down. And yes, back up plans will help with that. I hope everyone else is doing well.
I promise I am not going to give up.
I do have one issue that I need to address. This Sunday I have a bbq to go to. I love bbqs!! I'm going to have a problem resisting some of the foods that people will bring. I really don't want to indulge. I thought about bringing my own foods to grill and my own salad. I just know that some of the stuff they bring will be tempting. My husband will be woofing it down too. I'm going to need some big distraction. I know my son will be one...
Please suggestions.. Anyone... please :)

Some days are going to be bad. Some days you're not going to give a damn. And that food's never going to go away. It's all a question of what you do about it. The other day, for example, I had a massive chocolate craving. For about ten minutes I toyed with the idea of eating all the chocolate in my fridge (about 1000 calories worth!). But I found a way around it- I posted here to make myself accountable, I found non-chocolate substitutes, I had a backup plan in case it was a chocolate only craving (hot chocolate with unsweetened cocoa and artificial sweetener), I got it down to a level of craving I could manage. It's all about minimising the damage of any of those things. And it's about experimentation.

Re the barbeque, my inclination would be a compromise. Take some food with you and mostly eat that, but (if you can manage it without binging, that's a personal decision) pick at the other food on offer so you're still included. Make (at least a mental) note of what you've eaten, work out the calories/ damage later, make amends (if you've overeaten by 500 calories, reduce your allowance by 100 over 5 days or 50 over 10, for example). Perhaps eat something beforehand so you're not so hungry while you're there and are less tempted by the food (and drink plenty of water for a similar reason).

I LOVE those ideas. Thank you. And the hot chocolate idea is fantastic!! I have coco and splenda and never thought about mixing the two. :) Thank you so much!

Ashy! I feel so bad for not stopping by for the past few days, I was just very busy with school work that I didn't manage to be at the PC for too long.

Anyway how are you doing? :) I've read your blog btw, it looks lovely and it's a pleasure to read!

xx

Updates here

Well done on getting your mojo back, and I'm glad my suggestions are of use (sorry I'm not sure how to comment on blogspot, so I'm responding here). Shame the barbeque was cancelled, but the meal is probably more important for you as a family.

Hope your time of the month isn't causing you too much difficulty (not just weight management wise) and you're otherwise doing well :)

Blog bloggity blog

I do think that I am going to stick with my blog instead of writing here. I do enjoy talking with you folks so I suppose that it might be a good idea just to come back and read some of your journals even if I do not update mine. I like writing my blog because its rewarding in a sense. And I like documenting stuff for fun. I will check back with you folks shortly! I just feel like I have zero time during the day and soon its going to be even busier with school.
I hope everyone is doing well, and if you do want to follow my blog it is
