Been a personal trainer for 20 years. Started my first business (JP Fitness) 14 years ago, and never looked back. Don't even know if I'm employable anymore, although I do put in my fair share of 14 hour days!
The problem that you'll have these days is politics is a major part of our industry when it used to not be. 24 hour fitness is a complete embarrassment to our industry and you really should not be trying to work there. Have you seen the people that work there? You're looking for work in places where there is no work. If you have a scirion cert, go some place where you can make real money or start your own business and do in home or corporate training.
This can also be said about certain Golds Gyms as well.
I work full-time as a classroom teacher, but I did earn my personal trainer certification from Scirion Institute in Feb of 2006. Unfortunately, 24-Hour and Fitness 19 do not recognize Scirion as national certification. $800 later and having studied my heart out to pass the exam, and it looks like I need to pay hundreds more to be accepted as a "certified" trainer.
