Any one on the HCG diet?

Hi, I just started the HCG diet and I am on day two of loading, just looking for some buddies/support from anyone else on this diet protocol. I'm doing the subcutaneous injections, and I am starting the VLCD tomorrow. Start weight 202 lbs, Current weight 204lbs, Height 5'5", Goal weight 140lbs.

oh my goodness...that route is SOO dangerous! Do you really believe the best thing for weight loss is injecting hormones in your body??? NO WAY! I really think you should research it some and reconsider this dangerous road.

Injecting hormones and eating only 500 cal ....i will put money on you loosing weight without hcg drops if u eat only 500 cal a day ....hcg diet is total b.s with a lot of side effects

Hi, thanks so much for your concern...I have researched this protocal for over two months now and my friend is an MD. The hormone I'm injecting is used and approved by the FDA in women with fertility problems and young boys who are not developing in puberty, in these cases the amount of hormone injected is between 2000iu & 5000iu in one injection; whereas on the protocal I am only injecting a very low daily dose of 125iu. I would never go to such extremes without thoroughly researching this first, I am very level headed and health conscious. This is a natural hormone with no side effects, except when used in this protocal it unlocks stored fat.

Maybe you are right, I would lose weight being on such a calorie restricted diet, but I would be losing this weight from muscle, structural fat as well as water, whereas on the HCG protocal, I will only lose it from my abnormal fat stores which are last to go on a 500cal diet alone. Maybe you should read about the protocol before passing judgment, maybe you have not researched it, cause if you did you would not make such unsubstantiated comments. I am looking for Buddies, not critics on this!

I HAVE DONE MY HOMEWORK, I AM BEING SUPERVISED MY AN MD!!!!

bluntly put..your friend is an idiot.

As far as buddies, this site tends to be very against short cut/dangerous to your health fads like this. I suspect you will not find any buddies here.

Oh, and doing the research:

The Mayo Clinic is one of the most respected medical groups in the world. I'd believe them.

500 cal diet

I have family members who seriously tried this diet program. They received the hormone shots and attempted to eat 500 calories a day. It worked, for 3 days. Then they had no energy and had to stop (plus they were literally starving). This "diet" plan is a huge scam.

Long story short, anyone trying to lose weight would have a better chance sticking to a 1400 calorie a day diet and light exercise then trying "magic" shots of hormones and 500 calories.

Progress So Far

Hi everyone,

I see I am receiving a lot of negative responses to this diet!! I so believe we are all entitled to our opinion if it can be substantiated. So I thought I respond. As far as the conventional diet and exercise you all promote, yeh that is great...if it works for you!! It didn’t work for me. I joined the Gym ate 1,500 cals a day and after a month I gained 2lbs, and NO it wasn’t muscle gain it was FAT…I have a scales that is computerised and measures BMI, Lean Muscle Mass, Fat, Water and Viceral Fat, and I put on fat, my visceral fat went from 10 to 11, I told my MD and he did a full panel thyroid function test, antibodies the whole lot and it came back normal. He referred me to a nutritionist and I followed the eating plan for a further 2 months, still going to the gym and my weight stayed the same, no gain and no LOSS. I researched this diet for 2 months before I started and decided to give it a go.

Jerico, I think that your comment regarding my friend very offensive, why are you calling her an idiot?? Do you know her? Well I don’t think so. She is a very good friend, very professional and dedicated to her profession as an MD, She DID NOT tell me to go on this diet, SHE DID NOT supply me with the Hormone. I confided in her and told her what I was doing and she is supporting me, taking my BP and monitoring me on a daily basis, she showed me how to mix and inject the natural hormone safely!! I call that a friend, maybe you are the idiot with unsubstantiated remarks!! And regarding the Mayo Clinic not approving this protocol, maybe that is because if they said otherwise this successful & inexpensive diet would not allow them to make their thousands form life threatening Bariatric Surgeries that they perform and do promote!! Ever think outside the BOX? I personally would rather try a natural hormone that is produced by both the male and female body, (especially present in the female body in huge amounts during pregnancy) a hell of a lot safer than going under anaesthesia and the knife!!!

For anyone who is interested in my progress I will post it, I just won’t be replying to any more negative responses from people who don’t know anything and have not tried this, I am here for support and want to think positively. I am not going to stop this protocol because of the negative remarks…in fact it just drives me on more to see for myself if it works! I will however answer any questions regarding my progress with anyone who is interested.

I WILL BE HONEST, AND TELL HOW I AM FEELING, IF I GAIN/LOSE ETC. IF THE DIET WORKS OR NOT, REGARDING KEEPING MUSCLE AND LOSING FAT, IF IT IS NOT THE CASE I WILL POST.

DAY 1 – WEIGHT 202.4 LBS (VITIMIN B12 SHOT)
DAY 2 – WEIGHT 204.6 LBS (LOADING & HCG SHOT) – felt stuffed
DAY 3 – WEIGHT 204.8 LBS (LOADING & HCG SHOT) – felt stuffed
DAY 4 – WEIGHT 200.8LBS (VLCD & HCG SHOT) – felt a bit hungry when making the dinner for the family,

Progress so far excellent, down 3.8lbs from weight after loading & 1.6lbs from starting weight. Scales shows lean muscle mass is the same, water incresed, fat has dropped, visceral fat gone from 11 down to 10! Happy Days..hope it keeps going well, I do expect the daily losses to be less after a few days. I was satisfied with the food I ate, think I was psychologically missing my usual foods when cooking the dinner for my family.

Bye for now!:seeya:

You're right, I totally agree..just didn't work for me so I thought I'd give this a go after a lot of research..Keep up the good work with your weight loss!

ah the whole 'medical community is a secret evil money making cartel'. Do you even know who the Mayo Clinic is?

You are going to lose weight because of the very low calories you are taking in that is not healthy in the least over a long term. Safer than the knife? No, actually it isn't. You know what is safer? Proper diet and exercise. Instead you are looking for support in a group that promotes this and decided you have to take a shortcut.

I really REALLY do not think you will find support here for your radical and dangerous diet plan. Please put the crap away and learn from people here. You say you did diet and exercise..I'm betting you that you actually underestimated your calories. There is a factor you aren't including because science is science and calories in < calories out = weight loss.

You are going to get negitive reaction here because we know the dangers of this plan. You are going to get information and facts from me for two reasons. The first is I don't want to see one of our forum members going down this dark road. The second is I don't want our forum members thinking this is a safe shortcut to weight loss.

Seriously! Look at your calorie intake. This diet is a VLCD that is not medically recommended for any extrended period of time. What happens when you stop this? Do you know portion sizes? How to make smart choices? You know how to actually change your lifestyle to a healthy one?

Cause right now I'd say you don't.

People think that HCG diet is like a magic which can help to lose weight in very short period of time. But i would say that you may also need to do exercise along with HCG in order to lose weight.

Hi Kami, it is interesting to read your plan. Whilst this route is not one I would take I do believe people have the right to make their own choices and I respect people enough to allow them do that.

I thought it was unfortunate that your friend was referred to as "an idiot", I know personal attacks on people are frowned upon on here (any complaints about a mod should be directed to the Admin)

This was not a complaint about a mod, it was a comment on your name calling - you should not be above any other member and be permitted to name call.

I didn't attack the posted. I commented on her friend. There is a difference. If you have a problem with a mod, contact the Admin..not comment in the forum.

I have a problem with any member who gets involved in name calling, it should not be acceptable for any member of the site regardless of being a mod or not and giving me a warning for saying so is unacceptable also.

You are an Internet bully. Go ahead and give me another warning or ban me, show the rest of the forum how you silence people who disagree with you. I feel sorry for you.

While I do not agree with 'name calling', pointing out that what somebody is doing is idiotic is not exactly the end of the world. Plus, it wasn't directed at the OP. You're making a mountain out of an ant hill. Also, do the words pot, kettle and black mean anything to you?

As Jericho said, if you have a problem with one of the mods, contact the owner of the board. This thread is not the place for it.

saying an idea is idiotic is valid, calling someone an idiot is name calling and adds nothing to the conversation.

Doing something idiotic makes a person, at least while they are doing it, an idiot.

This doesn't add anything to the conversation either though, so could we please drop it and go back the original topic of the thread?

Thank you.

Firstly I do know the Mayo clinic, I am Irish! I did try diet and exercise before in 2009 for my wedding, and yes I did lose the weight and looked fab, with hard work and a good diet, yes I did succeed, I do know portion size and I do know how to count calories, but this time due to reasons unknown I could not lose a pound, after 3 months of rigorous exercise, as in 50 lengths in a 25meter pool, 30 mins split training on a treadmill, 20 mins on hard resistance on an exercise bike and a further 20 mins on a rower Yes I did gain weight...As I already mentioned I went to my MD, seen a nutritionist ate foods that were good for my blood type and NO I just stayed the same. So I am giving this a go! I am not promoting this diet in any form it is something I as a person have decided to do..And yes I was looking for Buddies who are on this protocol OF THEIR OWN CHOICE!! to share their experience with me. My lifestyle is very healthy and I am very happy! So do what you want to do, and I will do what I want..MY CHOICE!!!!

Hi just want to update my progress. Weight this morning 199lbs a loss of another 1lb:hurray:. I feel really well, BP normal and I do have a feeling of well-being. I have found a few ways to make the diet a little more interesting, so I thought I'd share, I hate drinking water on its own so I squeezed the juice of 2 oranges and 2 lemons and added it to a 2 litre bottle of sparkling spring water wtih 3 stevia sweetners and it is delicious and so refreshing, just like a rock shandy! I can drink 1 liter of this during the day and only use up one of my fruit porions and it is soooo worth it. For lunch I had a chicken breast filet and a large bowl of cabbage and I even drank the cabbage water, delicious! and I feel perfectly content! No bad side effects as yet..For anyone who is interested I'll keep you all posted on the good the bad and the ugly of this diet..I will be totally honest on how this is going and how I am feeling. Bye for now! :waving:
