Anke Says: Just Do It!

Cool about the dancing, Deidre! It really is awesome, hey! And you'll also find it uses some pretty different muscles to some other exercise (though I doubt that there's a muscle on your body you haven't flexed :p)

Angel! Well done, you are officially bikini ready. I am so impressed, you look gorgeous! And as I said in your thread, I will use you for inspiration to get me through the tough times!!

Speaking of which, I'm gonna have a killer full body work out tonight... back, stomach, arms, legs and everything inbetween! Also see below, I'll be doing all of that too :) So proud of my baby exercise addiction!

So, here are my running, cycling and swimming times for the mini indoor triathlon my gym is having in September: (these were the results of each of my first attempts at these activities.

2km running: 14:55

5km cycling: 9:30

125m swimming: 25 seconds a lap... can't do 5 yet! So works out to a rough 2:30 minutes.

I have already improved on the running by 1 minute... I haven't pushed myself with it until now... so here goes!

Have a great day all!

Uhm, Wow! Running 2k in 5 min is super fast. That's going faster then a four min mile. Have you thought about trying out for the Olympics?

The women's world record for the 2000 meter is 5 min 30.53 sec.

^ I was thinking the same thing! I haven't timed myself in quite some time, but I'm lucky if I finish a 5k in 28 minutes...

I LOVE belly dancing! I should look into it again. There used to be free classes around here.

BWWWAAAAHAHAHAHA!

Sorry guys... was almost superwoman for a second there :p

I meant to say 14:55... hehe.

I wanna run a 5k in 28 mins!!

Hehe, good to know folks are reading!

Ciao!

(Oh, I had a brilliant workout tonight... swimming, running, cycling, weight training and dancing... fun fun fun!!)

Yeah check out those classes absolutely, Madness.... it's wicked fun!

I need to head up to ye olde alma mater and run a mile on its track-- and see how fast (or slow) my mile is. It's difficult to gauge that around here. Pennsylvania is a state of rolling, varying terrain.

Hehe, yeah, go for it!

By the way, there's a website (measure my jog or track my route or something of the sort... ) where you can check how long your normal running route is in miles... that way you can work out a route for wherever you wanna run.

They just don't have South African maps on there...

Your pool is smaller than mine... we do olympic pool length at my gym, so each of them is 33 m instead of 25! But you are really fast! I need like a minute a lane!
Well done for timing yourself! I am aiming to run 5 k in 40 minutes... I am just slow like that! But right now I still just do like 4 k in 30 minutes and then I give up because I am too tired! Slacky slacky me!

Ok, off to the pool I am, Camy

Congrats on shaving a minute off. Glad you had a good work out last night. what's the website that tells you how long a run is? So far, I've been stuck driving my car around it to see how long my jog route is lol. Something like that would be great

I wanna run a 5k in 28 mins!!

Well, that was my pre-gallbladder surgery time from about 6 months ago. So this morning I went out for a little run. 37 minutes. According to your 2k time, that's probably around what you would be for a 5k. Looks like we've got some work to do...

Purpleshirt, I use the directions part of google maps to do it. Just put way points along your route. It works great.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I am now officially running a 2km in 12:55... and man is it hard!!! It gets easier right? RIGHT??

Going for weigh in today... gained last week... so I really wanted to make this week a good one... messed up a bit on Friday to Sunday, but hoping the rest was on track enough to earn me a little loss this week... Hold thumbs!!!

Today I stop smoking and start increasing my lung capacity and sense of smell. Wish me luck! :)

Thanks Madness! Day 2 is going well... I just hope it's the physical withdrawal making me feel like I have a flu coming on... taking extra good care of my health now just in case.

Yes, I will be watching the food closely, but I think it will be okay as I'm very accustomed to my new healthy eating habits. A big reason I wanted to stop is for my running... looking forward to that getting easier!

So weighed in today and I have lost 4.4 pounds!!! I am absolutely ecstatic... my goal can still be reached as per my plans! I wanted to be at goal 9 August... Gonna DO IT!!!

Anke, you are doing great. You're well past half way to goal. Congrats on the quitting the smokies.
