Anke Says: Just Do It!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your comments.

I'm feeling so flu-ish today... hope it's the withdrawal...

Ok, so yesterday was a crap day... I've never felt withdrawal from cigs before, now I have. I can't believe that there is such a great effect on my body, as previous times when I tried to stop I was either sick and stopped due to that, or I used the nicotine replacement stuff...

Today I put on a nicotine patch, the smallest one. I'm hoping this will give me some comfort today, as yesterday was hell!

Congrats on the loss. I can't even imagine quitting smoking, it would be so hard [I don't smoke, but I can only imagine]. You have some serious willpower and just take it one hour at a time

Hehe, well yeah so far my throat has been too sore and my body in too much of a flu-like withdrawal state that I haven't craved ANY cigarettes or done much exercise. For some strange reason I have a smaller appetite too... strange right??

Anke the first week is the hardest, then the withdrawal syndrome goes away, you won't be physically addicted anymore, then you just have to battle your psyche, because psychological addiction is much stronger that we think.

I have never been a smoker, never smoked a cig in my life in fact and I am glad because I am bad at the whole willpower thing! I tend to say I have no willpower!

But you could save the money you usually spend on ciggys and then give yourself a treat (like a massage) at the end of the first ciggy free month! I have a friend who just quit and she saved over 300 dollars on her first month! How amazing is that??

And why does everyone do so much better than me on this weight loss thing. You started 5 months after me and are alreday past the mid-point, I have been struggling for 7 and a half months now and I still have half the way to go! Grrr!!!!

Have a great weekend, Camy

Odds are you are doing it wrong.

Stats/info please? ^_^

I agree with Camy that you should treat yourself with the money you save from not smoking. My mother used to smoke three packs a day-- now that was very expensive to uphold.

Now if I could only lose 4 pounds, I would be happy, heh. Congrats.

Hey, Anke, any cool dreams lately? I've heard from many people that the patch gives some really crazy dreams.

Hey there :)

Quitting smoking is definitely hard. Although I've never been a smoker of cigarettes, I do have many friends that have struggled with it. One of my good friends who I never thought in my life would ever have quit... Well she just quit 2 weekends ago and I'm so proud of her. She was a chain smoker and her and her boyfriend finally decided they had had enough of it all. She's been cold turkey and doing great... She's considering going to get Chantix from her doctor to help and see if it does...

The thing that she mostly focuses on is changing up her routine. She would always wake up and light up a cigarette and go outside with the dog in the morning. Now she wakes up and has a huge glass of ice water and still takes the dog out. She is slowly getting into organic and gourmet coffees to be her new routine in the morning. She started riding her bike as well, and wants to start walking dogs too. I'm really really impressed with her. And I know if she can do it, you can, believe me;)

Just remember to just take things one day at a time and I totally think the whole reward at the end of the month is a great idea. A massage would be great, or something like that... Your doing something great, remember that.

Take Care,
Sam

Hey!

Thanks all for your comments :)

By my count, today is Day 7 of no smoking. It's going well, I'm feeling stronger now!

I haven't exercised since last week Wednesday due to this flu thing... I think I'm ready to get some movement in today though, at least my belly dancing class!

Later!

Great Anke! Getting back into exercise should help you keep your mind of them as well as being extra motivation to not back slide!

Thanks guys! I find I want to sleep more now... think it's still withdrawal!

I had a terrible binge last night, but today I will just carry on. I go weigh in tonight and hopefully I have at least maintained! I'm going to get in my exercise tonight, as well as tomorrow morning. I'll still be taking it easy though.

I want to sleep 24/7! And no withdrawal here, just plain laziness.

I hope week 2 of non smoking is better than week one (and I think it should be). We gotta get our things together and go back to exercising babe! I am starting tomorrow ;)!

Have a great week, Camy

Sorry to butt in, Camy, but why not start today?

Ah, Trops. Because tomorrow is always easier!

But no, seriously, Camy just had pneumonia last week, hehe. Don't be pushing her off a cliff here! :p
