Anke Says: Just Do It!

Cool on the running. I never really liked it even in my college football days. But I think if I can knock off about 10 more lb I will be ready to try a bit of jogging. One of my new goals is to run (perhaps chug is a better word than run) 1 mile without walking. I am not quite ready for this yet but I am tearing up my stationary bike. Keep on going girl! your doin good.

Hehe, awww, thanks guys! I really never thought I'd be a "runner", heehee. So cool.

On Sunday morning early I was off to my 15km race (which I felt wholly unprepared for as I had been skipping my training but for 2 runs in the 2 weeks leading up to this 15km race.

Anyway, seems my legs liked the rest they got, coz they ran me through that course faster than I've run in a race before!!! I did the 15km in 01:47. My usual pace is 7:36mins per km, and this race I ran 7:08mins per km.

WOOOOO!!!!

In other news....

The half-marathon I have been training for is not happening (Well, IT is, I'm just not running it).

This is because we (my boyfriend and I) got the opportunity to go away for a 3 day weekend to Mozambique (beach, tropical climate). WOOOO!!!! It's my boyfriend's birthday on Sunday, so that's why we're going.

Before you think I'm ditching running, noooo no no. I have signed up for a 25km race on the 9th of May, eeee! I had another option of a half-marathon that weekend (21.1km), but the time limit for that is 3 hours (I'd be cutting it close with my estimated time being 2 hours 50 mins), so I'll be doing the 25km in a 4hour cut off time (I predict my time to be 3 hours 20mins).

So yep, still staying healthy and fit... just smoking too much.... not cigarettes. It doesn't really bother me though... but it does, I'm not sure... I should totally try going without for a while. But why?

haha Wha?? You say you smoke up? Is that it? Yea I wonder where you could be if your bod didn't do that...I mean look at you now!!! Bloody Brilliant! Good for you on the 15k! Do post about your trip, My dad's B-day is this Sunday too, the 3. I was thinking of taking him to see Disney Planet. I think he would really enjoy, he does pick out baby movies for us to go see now so....(and that one really isn't a baby movie)

Hehe, yep. Well I guess I'll find out what I'm capable of pretty soon... I will be taking a break from smoking (haven't decided when yet) but maybe from Monday (ehehehe) until my birthday party on the 23rd of May? Hmmm, maybe I'll cut out drinking for that period too... would really help to keep my cals down and have a good loss before then.

Oh, and I have run stoned... Pretty hectic, but once it started wearing off I was REALLY tired!

I woke up at 5:30 to run for the first time in WEEKS!!! Trust me, I have tried a few times, and miserably failed (winter's coming this side of the world). But I did it! 8km in just over an hour :)

Oh, and I have run stoned... Pretty hectic, but once it started wearing off I was REALLY tired!
girl, you're so crazy! lol!

otherwise just stopped by to say thanks for checking in on me....i see your still doing great with the running...and you totally deserve the weekend getaway break with your boyfriend! i'm sure it'll help refresh and energise you for the upcoming run. all the best xoxo

HAHAH WHA?!?!?! No kiddin it would make you tired....Hmm so that means when in time you quit, your time is going to like triple or somethin.:hurray: Your badass now with speed, soooo..... ZOMG I almost 4got a pretty color...lol

Thanks people :)

Well, I am reading blogs at the mo (running and healthy living blogs) and it seems two young people have died in the last week and their stories and lives so beautifully chronicled in these blogs and others. I have been reading and crying and really just appreciating life. Phew, but now it's enough of death for a while :)

I'm alone at the office today... pretty boring, but at least I can do whatever I want. Going to do some filing. Oh, and I have this weird tight/soreness in my upper back. It hurts when I lift things heavier than a glass of water. Going to the chiropractor just now. I have never been to one before, so quite excited! (am I weird??). Only been to physiotherapists before.

Anyway, almost time to go away for the weekend to the beach, whoop whoop!!!!

Wow, what a different the chiropractor made! But it's just short term pain relief while I work on my posture, and some strength training to rectify my natural imbalances. I'm going back on the 11th to get a "rehab program" hehehehe. Cool.

I ate a pepper steak pie (hmmm, crispy pastry and delish!!!) - something I only do once in a while. It was great! I also bought myself cigarettes for the first time in over 6 months :( just a box of 10, but still.

I don't know what to do, I really like smoking, but know it is bad for my health!!! :sifone: :ack2:

Anyway, I won't be stressing too much about food and drink this weekend, my only goal is to run on the beach in Mozambique. We're going to a place called Xai Xai :)

Ok, bye now everybody! Hope you all have a wonderfull weekend (and yes, tomorrow is a public holiday in South Africa, so my weekend is a long one!!!)

Stop buying those cigs! Don't fall back into the habit. If you have pangs for a smoke that lasts a couple of days (as opposed to those immediate "I'd LOOOOVEE a cig" pangs), try meet a friend and bum one off them, thats what I do :p Having your own pack means you're going to smoke them all. Bumming them means you'll only have a couple. I can't count the number of times I've tried to give up, bought "just the one pack" and then couple weeks later I'm back to smoking fulltime.

Isn't it typical? After getting on my high horse I now have a huge craving for a smoke. And no friends around to bum one off. Guess I'll just gnaw on the table instead for a while.

Yo, Anke Where you at girl? :p

How was your long weekend holiday at the beach? Do tell...;)

Don't smoke, it is yucky! And bad for your health! And did I mention yucky??

Whenever I meet someone and they go for a fag quickly I honestly have a worse opinion of them (even worse when they just smoke right in your face, when you spend a ton of money on medication to get your lungs to be even remotely functional!).

So, DON'T SMOKE!!!

The beach was awesome!!!

I am jumping right back into no smoking as of tomorrow :(

That means weed and cigs... sigh. I can do this.

Haven't run in over a week, so going to the gym today to hit the treadmill. I'm aiming for a 16km workout, that's 2 hours on the mill... I'll see how it goes!

Saturday is my 25km run, aaaaaaarrggh!!!! So not ready for it! But I figure if I just do steady intervals all the way then I'll make it, however buggered I may be at the end! :svengo:

So things in general are good... got some fresh cashew nuts from Mozambique and made nut butter out of it, yippeee!!!!

hahaha "a fag quickly", sorry I've just never heard that expression b4. What land is that one from? ;)

Good to hear you had a Super Awesome Mega-ness Trip!!!

Will somebody be picking you up at the end of the 25km? Or do you turn around in the middle of it and come back home? or it's a race?

Hmm Cashew nut butter, I wonder how that tastes, I like Sesame seed butter...;)

hehe, they call cigarettes fags in the United Kingdom (England)... and in South Africa. It's slang that's been around for a long time :)
Camy has lived all over the globe though, so couldn't name a particular country she comes from! :p

The 25km is a race... there's a 50km at the same time (maybe next year!)

I am so excited! I did 20mins x3 on the treadmill at the gym last night, finishing 7.5km. After 40mins running I ate an energy gel sachet thing (corn syrup actually). I needed to see how refueling will work for me. I have a bunch of gel sachets for Saturday, yummy flavours, but corn syrup, blegh!!!

The longest time I have run before was 1hour 47mins... I figure that this 25km will take me 3hours 45mins. The cutoff time is 4 hours!

So today I am going to belly dancing after work, then to go weigh in at my Weigh-Less group. I am smoking my last two "fags" today... then, no more. :blush5:

Aaaaaah! My Outlook just popped up with a reminder that my mini marathon starts in 22 hours!!!! EEeEEeeeeEeE!
