Angela's Diary

Aren't you supposed to be somewhere fun consuming cheese or something?? :p

Technically it was champagne, wine and cheese (and other assorted goodies...) needless to say, dinner will be very light :)

It was fun but you should just consider me omnipresent :D I never leave...

It was his response to the etiquette post that gave him away. :)

Why, was it incorrect? I got that answer from my handy Miss Manners Guide to Etiquette. (it might have been in Miss Manners Saves Civilization, but I think it was the first one.)

I didn't have a problem with it. I just thought that you might like to know that I am a guy. (so you don't make suggestive comments by mistake)

Actually, it would have been much more comical if you had waited until he did make a suggestive comment and then spilled the beans. Oh, what fun we could have had!

Don't worry Trops, those are reserved for me :D

Sorry, darlin, ya gotta share.

I know. I didn't want to step on your toes.

Trops, you are such a sweetie, thanks for thinking of me :D

*whining*

But I don't wanna share...

*walks off pouting and muttering to herself, I guess if I have to share, I can share with Angela...but only if I have to...*

Well, I'm glad you made an exception for me. You have just made my whole day. :D

Tuesday, 8:52 a.m.
Well, back to the grind after a long, relaxing weekend. We didn't do a whole lot. Had a cookout Sunday, went to a pool party yesterday. My oldest had a great time dancing in the pool and had everyone near her just cracking up. That's my girl. :D

For some odd reason yesterday I was craving sweet potatoes. So, off to my pantry I went to make some SP fries and, of course, no sweet potatoes. No problem - I just pulled on my shoes and walked me happy arse to the grocery to buy some. I mapped the distance later and it turned out I walked two miles, up and down hills. Not bad. Baby steps. And, I saved some gas, too. :D I made my oldest walk with me and she complained the whole time. She actually said: My legs aren't what they used to be, Mom. I had to remind her she is only nine years old. Sheesh! I see a lot of afternoon walks in her future! Get to 'em while they're young! I used to complain, too, when I was a child and look at me now. Nuh-uh, she's not walking in mom's footsteps. Wish my parents had done the same for me . . . .

I got up and exercised at the gym this morning for 45 minutes and I feel pretty good. If it's not raining this evening when we all get home I'm taking the family on a walk. Miss Thang can complain all she likes, she's going to walk. I've always allowed the girls to pick a 30 minute show to watch before bedtime. Well, I'm changing things up a bit. From now on, they have to have 60 minutes of activity before they are allowed to watch their respective shows. Walking, park, pool, whatever. No activity, no show. Simple as that. Maybe, if I play my cards right, they will phase out of wanting to watch it at all. It's very possible with summer coming and more things for them to do.

Last but not least, I started the WW Core plan yesterday. I did pretty well (ok, I cheated a little bit with a Malibu pineapple at the pool, but come on, it was a holiday!). I've planned my daily menu for the week (with some help from DF, of course) and I plan to make lunch my "big" meal of the day, instead of dinner. I've learned that around dinner - or right after - is when I want to snack and munch the most - so I will eat my planned dinner and then get as far away from the kitchen as possible until my cravings have passed. The daily walks I am imposing on the family will help with that. :D

Breakfast: Oatmeal w/ cinnamon and Splenda and an apple;
Snack: Watermelon;
Lunch: Campbell's bean and ham soup (yes, it's core) and a salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, and FF ranch dressing;
Snack: Red seedless grapes;
Dinner: Creamy cheese penne w/ garlic and cajun sweet potatoes.
Dessert: Watermelon. (Yeah, I'm obsessed. but it kept me away from the chocolate. :D)

Nice. I'm a big fan of getting the kids out and moving. If it were up to them, they would spend 12 hours a day in front of the TV. Once they get outside it's a different story. If you make that walk a regular routine they will start to expect it.

We also take a vacation each summer camping. Each day we end up walking so much. The kids playground is just under a mile away from our camp site, and we walk up there at least twice a day, usually more.

I made Malibu and pineapple this weekend, too. I made it frozen with a splash of pomegranate juice. It came out awesome. It was my only indulgence this weekend (alcohol wise) so not too bad.

Good idea. Maybe with gas prices rising, it will prompt me to get out and walk more. Too far to walk to work, but we can make a walking trip to the grocery a couple of times a week and to the park, which is about the same trek as the store. My little one is actually looking forward to our walk this afternoon. When I mentioned the walk, she raised her little hand and said, "Me!! ME!!!" You go little girl! :D

My two will be all for it, sometimes, but then we get half way there and they want to be carried. The family joke is that I'm a daddy, not a donkey. They try to convince me otherwise. :)

lol, hope you don't mind, but I'm going to have to let Mike use that one. My little one will be wanting the same thing about halfway into our trip. :D

Oh, sure. Just be careful with it. They will pull it out at any time. If your 9 year old is anything like my 8 year old, she'll know just when to use it to her biggest advantage and his biggest embarrassment. Aren't kids great?
