AmyRB's Weight Loss Diary

^^^I agree with Chai Cat!

I was just catching up on the two pages here so far, and you're doing so great! You do need more food. Well, healthy food. :) Have you checked out Fitday or Sparkpeople yet? They have great (and delicious) menu plans you can follow (or adapt).

I'm sorry you're getting so frustrated with the scale not budging, but don't give up. Have you taken measurements yet? That's also a great way to see change, when the scale's not moving.

Thanks for all the support. I am eating lots of food, just super healthy stuff. I eat every 2-3 hours and its mostly tuna, roasted veggies, small servings of fruit, and so on. I upped my calories in my breakfast to get the proper amount and so I have all day to burn it off. Just waiting to see what the doc says.

sometimes the body goes into starvation mode so you gotta go up on the calories to burn/loose them. Like HB said.

You're doing great though, keep up the excellent work!

It sounds like you're doing all the right things :D

Once your hormones are in balance, that weight should run screaming from your body :)

Just keep doing what you're doing!

New Year, New Me!

So, the doc's results were good and bad. First of all, it seems as if the pregnancy has actually helped my hormone condition. All my life I have had to take hormone therapy because I did not produce enough. For the first time ever, my hormone levels are normal!! And it's not my thyroid either. The doc thinks my body is not used to the estrogen production so it is storing the fat. He said my body will get used to it and the weight will start to melt off soon and to be patient. So that is just what I am doing. I am being positive and patient. I have eased back into the lifestyle I had before pregnancy of being active and athletic and eating healthy. The only problem is the lack of stamina but I am working on that. I am upping my cardio and continuing to eat 1300-1500 calories a day. The weight will come off, it's just a matter of time. I will be going jogging on my lunch break and rather than 30 minutes, I am going to go 45. Ouch this is gonna hurt! Also, there's been a lot of talk about boobs on here lately, so here's my issue. I have never had boobs and they are still super small despite just having a baby (I never produced milk). I wear a little girl's bra (swear to god). It says "almost A" on the tag. How depressing. Anybody have any ideas of how to enhance my girls without a boob job? A b-cup would be nice.

Losing 24 lbs is a success story Amy :) I think you'll do fine losing your remaining weight, you seem to have this under control. Don't get too freaked out by the swings of fast and slow weight losses. Steady wins the race ;)

You sound like youre doing great!! 24 pounds is awesome!!! about the boob issue, i dont really know what to tell ya, im seriously thinking about a boob job once i get to my goal, mine are damaged from breastfeeding and i dont like what i see there LOL, i never thought i would have plastic surgery, but i think some skin tightening, tummy tuck and boob lift is in order for me!!

Jogged 2.2 miles in 30 minutes. Not great time but I'm getting better. It was so damn cold outside. It was 26 degrees and windy. Brrrr! I feel great after such a good lunch time workout. I got back to my office and ate a small greek salad and plain tuna fish. I've only had 800 calories so far so I need to eat something. I lost 2 more lbs this past week. That makes me super happy. FINALLY starting to see something happen.

I put my gym bag right in front of my desk so I have to stare at it all morning. And I told my co-workers that I plan to go jogging 3-4 times a weeks during my lunch break so I feel like I have to go. I used to run this 5K every year until I got pregnant. It's coming up in 3 months so I have that long to train for it. I want to at least be able to jog it without stopping. I don't care what my time will be just yet. I know it will take time and alot of hard work to get back to where I used to be. There is a park next to where I work and it has a jogging trail. To the end and back of the one I use is 2.2 miles. My first goal is to be able to jog this without stopping by February 16th. This is a big motivation for me. My legs are sore from yesterday's jog so I'm not sure how today will go. I have had half a whole wheat english muffin, 2 cups of coffee and a turkey sandwich so far today. The bread with the sandwich is this new kind I found at the commissary. It is low carb/high fiber whole wheat. Each slice has 10 carbs and 5 grams of fiber and it tastes pretty good. Low calories too. I am keeping my calories at 1200-1500 but am cutting my carbs a bit. I try to keep them between 20 and 50 grams. It's going pretty wells so far. I just really miss my whole wheat spaghetti with vegetable red sauce. Yum!

Use portion control and you don't have to give up pasta - even on a low carb diet.

Wheat and regular spaghetti have such a small difference in carbs to begin with, I'm puzzled with the thinking of wheat being a savings (of any importance anyway) when it all comes down to the amount you eat.

A successful weight loser is one that can eat what they enjoy, not eliminating everything.

Tip: add salt AFTER you drop the spaghetti in the pot. If you throw a handful in before it will just disappear and not draw out the starches, adding it in when the pasta is entered will draw maximum starches out and 'de-carb' the noodles as much as it can especially if you use kosher or course salt.

Hey Amy...I just wanted to remind you that when you feel huge...think of MY number;) You're doing great...and you look just as beautiful as ever

Finally

I am finally starting to lose some weight! I am now down to 174. I jogged 2.2 miles again today. My goal is to jog 50 miles total by February 15th. This averages to about 13 miles a week. I can do that. It is so nice to finally start seeing results. Yay!

Jogged 2.5 more miles today. I had to take yesterday off due to a nasty cold I got from my husband and daughter. I still have it but don't feel near as crummy today. The jog felt fantastic! The sun is out and the park was full of joggers, walkers, and their dogs. It is 50 degrees outside and it feels great. I am starting to see results. My legs are getting toned and my preggo belly is getting flatter every day. Plus my mother has lost 10 lbs in the past 3 weeks and there is no way in hell that I am going to let her beat me in our little weight loss competition. She's 26 years older than me. Surely I can lose this weight a little faster. 6lbs in 14 weeks really sucks. I now know it's due to the muscle gain and the body fat is starting to come off. I can't wait til I can squeeze back into my old levi's. :) Everybody here is doing such a great job. This forum is so motivating!

really enjoyed reading your diary

AmyRB, Really enjoyed reading your diary. There are so many admirable things in there about you. I miss being an athlete too. I like especially how you didn't waste any time getting on with the job after your pregnancy. I have waited a long time to do this. If I get to 190 it will be the first time in over five years. But I think the stars are in alignment for me now and you have taught me a thing about determination. I'll be watching out for you!

I lost 3 more pounds! Woo Hoo! This low carb thing is really working. I went 12 weeks without losing a pound. I have lost 9lbs the past 3 weeks so I guess my doctor was right when he said I my body may be carb intolerant. The bad news is that I have to lay off jogging for a few weeks. I injured the IT band in both my knees yesterday during my jog. Doc says I can't do anything that impacts my knees until they heal. That really sucks because the jogging was really starting to get easier. I'll just keep doing some pilates and upper body weight training. Anybody got any good exercises that don't require any bending of the knees?
