Amiba's journal> it is time to make it happen.

Hey,

everything sounds awesome and so dedicated!! I was having the same thought about taking pics of food and adding them! Congrats on the schlorship. I often worry if im eating enough, i was told if i dont eat enough my body will go into starvation mode or summat lol So hard to get in to a routine with excercise, i have a little booklet that refers to joggers memory or something like that and it gives little tips on how to make excercise a habit. I scan in and email ya it if ya like?

thanks hun!

I know I think it is fun to add photos of what you eat. it makes everything more ''real'' and I get a clue of my portions. I am actually eating ''a lot'' of veggies but yeah not eating enough is a concern for many of us. it is hard to find a balance at first. the important thing is to eat enough so you feel great but not over eat. and give yourself the occasional treats!

that would be a-ma-zing. if you could send it it would be great, thanks!
I've never had the habit of exercise and it is something I would love to. I know I feel great when I do some work out so I def. want to keep it up.

how are you holding up?
xoxo!

Yeah I worry about my portions size. I did the fitday food log and realised I eat way too much carbs lol If you PM your email, I will send it in the morning.
I've been really good today, work twice and then working out.So really tired :)

i think im taking in around 170 g of carbs a day

amiba, yo avatar is hottttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt...

sizzle fo shizzle

oh you just made me giggle like a little girl! I am blushing, thank you!

I found this in some journals and thought would be cool to do!:

What is your current height and weight?

1.58 meters and 70 kg.

If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?
54 kg. sigh.

At what weight would you like to be at four months from now?
hopefully my goal, or at least almost at 60.

Why do you want to lose weight?
I honestly don't like my appeareance. I have cellulite,
varicose veins and all those stuff you shouldn't have at 24
also to generally lead a healthy lifestyle because my family
has a history of diabetes.

What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?
vacation time! when I break my ''routine'' and go out with friends a lot
it is hard to count my calories.

Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?
I've always had a weight problem. I am 16 kg overweight.

What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?
exercising! staying away from refined sugars, white bread and junk food in general.
I don't eat a lot I just need to eat more veggies and fruits and drink plenty
of water instead of soft drinks.

Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?
yes. moving out from home and cutting down my portions. in general just ''being a college student''
also I joined a curves gym that even though I only did around 30 min three times a week
helped me lose the first 10 pounds.

Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back?
I haven't gained that weight back, thankfully. but I am in a plateau.

What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight?
all the ''quick fix diets''
every time I started a new diet, I'd fall off the wagon fairly easily.
after so many attempts I just stopped trying. I believe being somewhat ''forced''
to diet was awful because I sabotaged myself. you have to take that decision
yourself and do it for the right reasons.

Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time?
Yes I am currently doing so. a food log is very helpful

Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook?
yes. It is cheaper and I can control what I eat because I know what's in it!
restaurants can say something is ''low fat'' and lie.
I mostly do salads with chicken breast, tuna with apple, low fat chinese,
veggie and fruit coctails, whole grain pasta, soups, fajitas,
omelets, sandwiches and light Jell-o!

How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?
once or twice a week at most. mostly coffee places
like starbucks and mall's food courts. I always
try to find a healthy alternative in them but yeah..
I do go to Ihop or Carl's jr. from time to time.

What are your three favorite foods?
sushi! chocolate (most sweets actually)
and pasta especially with cheese in it.

What are your three favorite restaurants?
1.) wok, any japanese restaurants
2.) Italian places
3.)coffee places like starbucks and local coffee shops
and tapioca houses!

What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food?
don't think of food as a ''reward'' or comfort when I feel sad.
look at it as essencial fuel to my body and give myself
a treat once in a while to never binge again.

If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different?
I'd cry, first. tears of joy as I've never been on my weight, ever.but I day dream a lot.
I'd shop! a lot of new clothes for my new size and even dress a little different,
more skirts and other cute things I'd love to wear.

Do you eat when you are not hungry?
yes. but working on it

Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)?
used to, not anymore!

Do you hide your food or eat in secret?
no, but I did in a moment --blushes--

Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed?
used to yes.

Do you eat as a reward?
yes, too.
Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer?
yep.
What do you normally eat for a meal?
on the weeks: tuna, chicken, pasta, salads, sandwiches, cereal.
on the weekend: sushi, a hamburguer, pasta.

What type of snacks do you eat?
fruits and veggies, whole grain cookies.
used to be regular cookies, popcorn and
peanut butter and jelly sandwiches

In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing?
mostly just my stationary bike, 30-40 minutes and 20 minutes on the fitness ball. some yoga and dancing too but not plenty yet

Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home?
currently just at home but I want to wo jogging a couple of days
so I won't feel trapped and add variety.

What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise?
belly dancing, pilates-yoga on the ball and walking.

What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals?
daily: stick to my healthy lifestyle and not cheat on my exercise plan.
monthly: had lost at least 2 kilos and have a better condition and habit
for exercise
yearly: have lost my 16 kilos. and sustain a healthy lifestyle
and regular exercise.

Do you have rewards for certain goals?
the next 5 kilos I am giving myself new piece of clothing. or pamper myself
at a SPA. maybe frozen yogurt too.
at 10 kg lost I am buying more clothes and jump up and down LOL

I know those calorie counting thingies are not 100% accurate, especially because I don't really ''measure'' my food all that well. I use cups and my fist mostly so yeah.

one of my main concerns- ironically- is not getting enough food.
I know diets can be an exciting time and you feel so powerful and determined that you could actually be eating less than what your body needs.

but come on, to me this is more than enough food:

my today's meal plan

Breakfast

100% Natural Decaffeinated Green Tea - Green Tea (around two cups, it didn't give me any calories. guess it doesn't count much if I don't add sugar

fruit cocktail:
Strawberries, around five large.
1 Apple - Golden Delicious
1 pear, medium

1 slice of whole grain bread- sunflower
1 tbsp of Sargento Fat Free Ricotta Cheese

1 egg with veggies in a steamed omelet.

Lunch
salad:
Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breast with spices
two spinach cups - Raw
five Mushrooms - Raw
cup of sliced Zucchini, Includes Skin
(love zucchini, I just grill them a bit, no salt or oil)

dessert
Strawberry Sugar Free Jell-O!
around 5 Grapes

Dinner
Milk Chocolate Shake Mix, slimfast Optima
with Milk, Nonfat

and.. counting my snacks:

Carrots with lemon and chili
bag of Pop Secret 100 Calorie no butter
(sometimes a granola bar instead but most have a lot of sugar
and I am trying to stay low in my refined sugars)

Total Calories Consumed 883 ---- hah! right. I am hoping it is more like 1300 because if it isn't I am a bit screwed. I know there are small things we add that make the calories go up a bit- that and portions.
oh and I don't like to eat heavily at night because I tend to feel sick, that's why I rather have just a slimfast shake. but who knows?

I believe it is better to start with a rich meal in the morning and cut down the portions through the day. we have our heavy meal at lunch, 1-3 pm instead of 6-7 pm so it makes it easier to eat light at night.
like that saying: have breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. or something like that :p

my day started well, but a bit lazy to be honest :p

I got up at 12! yesterday I couldn't go to sleep until like 4 am so it is only obvious I wasn't getting up so early. I am pretty sure it is the sibutramine I tried and it is not worth it.
if all it does is suppress my appetite while giving me a blurry vision, insomnia and neurotic episodes I'd rather keep trusting my will to not over eat so after just a couple of days I stopped taking them.

I prepared my fruit salad with slices of pear, strawberries, grapes and some almonds too. it was delicious but I actually struggled to finish it! it wasn't a big salad but still I was making faces and deep breathing to get it in my mouth. what? come on my stomach is fooling around and making me believe that very small portions are the way to go now. But hopefully he'll stay like that.
I still managed to have a slice of whole grain toast and half a cup of unsweetened green tea.
I am such a good girl it's been a while since I last had a fruit salad and it reminds me of home and my mom trying to make me :p

in a couple of hours I am having a green salad and chicken I guess. not in the mood for tuna today.

Also I want to go jogging outside today,
it is a beautiful day and as soon as the sun goes down a bit I will.

I think I am actually enjoying this a lot! and no refined sugars, candy, chocolate bars or french fries around.
last weekend I did have some french fries at carl's jr. and half a chicken hamburger and it made me feel sick. all the unnecessary bread, grease, starch, sugar.. and little benefits. not worth as a weekend reward. I'd rather have a small cup of ice cream any time over that yucky stuff.

well ice cream that isn't ben n' jerry. those were my fav. two men but now that I realize how much sugar and fat those little cups have.. I'd live without it. hopefully this trial separation will result in a full divorce from them!

what else.. my back hurts. a lot. all the time
I do yoga and work on the ball to help relief some of the tension but that is me, all the stress goes to my middle back and it is unbearable especially when I am about to sleep.

I want one of those cool desk chairs with an exercise ball build in it but they are a bit expensive and you just find them in the US. maybe I can use the one I have and attach it to my seat?
I want another ball I love those darn things. and I need to work more on muscle building and not only cardio.

woops I need to pay my gas bill.
and maybe it is a good excuse to walk around and see other things? I want a proper yoga mat and who knows.
xoxo!

800 calories a day would make me cry

i tend to eat triple, sometimes double that.

haha :piggy:

well it isn't enough I know! I am aiming for 1300. but I don't know how to eat more during the day. I am kind of force feeding me :p.. when I traded sugary stuff for all natural things my calorie intake dropped dramatically and now if I have another slice of fruit I think I'll burst! ironic.
also you exercise more than I do. you need more food

I might. gotta eat a bigger dinner than a slim fast for sure. as long as you eat by 6 or so you will be ok.

I try to eat every 3 hours or so, healthy snacks. but at night if I eat heavy I just can't sleep, my tummy is such a little scared girl when it comes to food.
I just had a small portion of fresh pasta with veggies and surimi and I can't eat anything else. I feel so full! I'll have to take a walk and see if I am ready for more veggies in a couple of hours. this eating thing is tougher than I thought

Yeah I eat at 7, 10, 12, 3, 5, 9...then I usually wake up around 3am so I have these lil 90 calorie cottage cheese things I eat then I sleep till 5 and repeat the process, most of my food is around 300 calories except for dinner which could be around 500 to 600 calories, but i go to the gym after that so its no biggie

sounds like a good plan!
I am not fond of cottage cheese, had a bad experience once --yuk--
I don't know how you manage to do it, I just had the fruit in the morning, then the pasta-veggie salad and an hour ago a small cup of frozen yogurt with peanuts and I was feeling full but I walked a lot so I am fine now. I am telling ya not having a car is the best fitness plan I've ever had! I just went to buy a new yoga mat and after a couple of buses and an hour and a half of walking up and down I am defeated.
but in a couple of hours I'll be ready for my stationary bike :D I am starting to enjoy this

ha, my gym is in town, it would suck ass walking ten miles just to get there...

How do I manage to do what?

I'm weird, or I'm just a badass hahaha

Its prolly the latter :flame:

my gym is at home I have : my stationary bike, yoga mat, two swiss balls and various weight-thingies and resistance cords. when I don't want to stay home I'll walk for an hour or two outside.

yeah not having a car is no fun but I take advantage of it as much as I can to incorporate the extra walking to my daily cardio work: just going and coming from school I walk around 25 min. then another hour if I do grocery shopping or pay my bills. sometimes I do window shopping just to walk even more. I love walking I guess

what about a weird badass?
I think that is pretty darn sweet :p regular badasses are so last season
