AmbaLove is Tracking the Journey!

There is A LOT of vegan chocolate, even Rice Milk chocolate. But....health food store AGAIN! :banghead: You need to come to the West Coast, we could make meals together! :D One of my favorite chocolates is Green & Blacks, and several of their dark ones are dairy free--EVERYTHING passes the taste test! Buy direct:

I LOVE the Maya Gold Bar but not everyone likes orangey-chocolate.

I do like orange chocolate. I do not like DARK chocolate, though...
I have seen Green and Black around here, I'll give some a try.
We do ahve a couple health food stores here, they are just small and not as well stocked as I would like.

Hmm..I would think that dark chocolate would be better than no chocolate at all. :D Also, there is so little dairy in a small piece of milk chocolate, that I think a little indulgence once in awhile won't do any harm. :)

I think I may lose several pounds today...from all the throwing up and diarrhea. My students have been dropping like flies all week, apparently I caught something.

Personally, I would take no chocolate at all over dark chocolate. Yuck!

Oh no! I hope you are feeling better very soon!!!

That's definitely one of the downfalls of being a teacher.

well......the flu is one way to lose weight.....not the route i would take however!!!lol But seriously i hope you are feeling better.....drink plenty of fluids.....ginger ale.....and toast.<----- thats what my mum would say...lol

get well!!
Rena

Thanks, but I cannot keep down a sip of water, let alone a piece of toast. Water induces immediate vomiting. I'm tired of the toilet.

Poor Amber Girl... I hope you start feeling better, dollface. I'm a firm believer of green tea and well being as you can't drink anything, I'd be more than happy to ummm..... find another way to get it in you. Yes.. I love yas that much. hahaaa! :hug2: Get over that flu soon, angel.

What GOOD tasting dairy free chocolate is out there?

Scharffen Berger chocolate is guaranteed dairy-free in the 2kg blocks; the rest of their stuff is run on shared equipment (so they might do a run of milk chocolate for a different manufacturer, clean the line, and do a Scharffen Berger run), but if I were you, I wouldn't worry about the level of cross-contamination that might happen from running on shared equipment.

If you like chocolate chips, I've always been able to find dairy-free chocolate chips. Nestle's is out, but the Walmart store brand I can get is fine.

Claudia, I am giving up dairy for 4 weeks to see if it improves my sinuses and excema.

I did hit a new low today...I lost 1.6 lbs from when I woke up to now. Not exactly what I wanted to do, however.

Good night all.

Poor Amber! I feel awful that you're vomiting. I HATE vomiting! So much that I told my body "no way Jose" and I haven't thrown up since March 29th 2004! I hope you get better soon!

Wow I didn't know there was so much dark chocolate hate going on! Me and all my friends perfer dark over milk. Terra Nostra makes the creamiest, most delicious (organic) rice milk chocolate I ever had BUT it's very high-cal.

Uh oh, when you have to avoid dairy does that mean you have to avoid all things with eggs too? My sister is trying to cut out dairy because Allypoe said its known to cause exema through breast feeding, and her baby's exema got worse the week I was there feeding my sis lots of ham and cheese sandwiches. She's just thinking she needs to cut out milk and cheese, but it didn't occur to us to cut out cookies or other products made with milk, and I would think eggs too? DUH! Ooooh I'm glad I read your diary! What else are you cutting that has dairy? My poor nephew is always crying from "wind". Phoebe she's already cut the oranges to see if that helps.

Eggs are not the same as dairy. However eggs are a highly allergic food for some. But I would focus just on milk products for now. Some people with milk sensitivites can have milk cooked into something, some can't. Best to cut it all for a while and see if ti improves. If it does, you can try to add back in baked goods with dairy, adn see if the baby reacts. Some people can have yogurt and cultured yogurt cheeses, some cannot. Depends on the level of sensitivity.

My nephew had horrible plaque psoriasis, his skin was literally peeling off his entire body. Once his mommy cut out all dairy, soy, beef and nuts, he was perfectly fine. He is almost three and can have beef and nuts now, but dairy and soy still give him trouble.

I have never heard of the scheffen berger chocolate, I'll have to look for that.

I like SOME dark chocolate, Val, but some is just too bitter. I love dark chocolate caramels, but caramel with be out now, too. Sheesh, dairy is in everything I like.

On a positive note, I have not puked in 12 hours. The other end is an ongoing problem, but easier to deal wth than the vomiting. I still have not tried eating anything, but since about 4 am, I ahve kept down about 10 ounces of diluted juice. I've always been told, lots of fluids, but don't rush solids. I do not feel hungry in the slightest, so I am going to hold off food until I either feel hungry, or am SURE it will not come back up.

:seeya: Hi, luv. Good that it sounds like you are at least a little on the mend! Such rot being that sick :ack2:

You may already have covered this in an earlier post, but just want to make sure you know about the BRATT diet when you have the runs...Bananas, Rice, Apple sauce, Tea, and Toast. But make sure it is white bread rather than whole wheat!

Cheers my friend, get well soon!
ABBA

I do know about the BRATT diet, just not ready to attempt solids yet. I ahve some rice and applesauce, so maybe for dinner.

Ate a few crackers, found out I am still naseaus. I'm waiting on food until tomorrow.
I am still keeping juice down, though.

I am wishing I could call in tomorrow, but its not an option, as I have an RPDC meeting to attend. GRR.

Oh Amber, I'm so sorry to read that you're still so sick. Stomach viruses (or whatever you have that has similar symptoms) are the absolute worst to have. Mine have throughout the years only lasted 1 or 2 days though. Poor sight! I'm really hoping you have improved by the time you see this post. Feel better sweetheart :).

Ate breakfast today (toast and juice), big mistake. My stomach has been upset ever since, on the verge of coming back up, but it never actually did. Skipped lunch. Dinner maybe, maybe not. We'll see.

Had a good weigh in at the dietician, though...but it will come back after I get to eat again, I think. I was at 209.6 today, only 6.6 pounds from my birthday goal on 2-18.
