AmbaLove is Tracking the Journey!

I've lost a lot of total inches, but not too much from anyone area.

it all adds up over time - patience and you're getting there - :)

most impressive only being up a bit after a weekend away :)

I don't actually measure myself, my dietician does it every 4 weeks.
But I think rule of thumb is to measure around the biggest part of the place you are measuring (calf, bicep, etc.), except waist, and that's at the smallest place on your torso.

"But I want to measure the smallest part of me!" lol
jk ...
I was thinking of measuring myself...but I have no clue where to start...
I mean I have two parts to my abdomen right now ..the lower abdomen is poking out and the upper abdomen is pocking out ...would I measure both parts of my abdomen? I am really curious ... hmmm ... I have no clue where to start.. lol

but you sound like you are doing awesome!
You go Girl!
I need to get cracking ..I am not doing so hot ...but I did do a twenty minute bike ride...
Thanks for chatting with me in my diary, much appreciated!

Natalie Jo- I actually have THREE abdominal measurements!! Upper abdomen, waist at belly button and lower abdomen.

These are all the thirteen areas my dietician measures (and the best description of where she does it that I can think of!) in case anyone wants to take measurements. It does help if someone else does it, so you can stand still and upright...but if no one is available, you can do it yourself. Pull the measuring tape snug, but not tight enough to bunch or fold the skin beneath it. Anyway, here are the thirteen areas:

1. Neck (right below chin, where neck starts)

2. Shoulders (at collarbone)

3. Bust (when wearing a bra, to "perk them up" LOL, measure the part sticking out farthest)

4. Bicep (at largest point between shoulder and elbow)

5. Wrist (where it bends when you drop your hand)

6. Ribs (directly under your bust, right where the band of your bra circles your rib cage)

7. Upper Abdomen (largest part between bust and belly button)

8. Waist (measure at your belly button, typically the smallest part of your abdomen)

9. Lower abdomen (largest part between belly button and "girly parts")

10. Hips (largest part of your hips and tush)

11. Thigh (largest part of thigh between foresaid "girly parts" and knee)

12. Calf (largest part between knee and ankle)

13. Ankle (Directly above ankle bone)

Also, when you measure calf, ankle and thigh, you want to have your weight on the leg you are measuring, so do not put your foot up on a chair or something to measure them.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for that
I have adapted my measurement sheet to include a few more but had to miss shoulders as there is no way i can measure them on my own i did try for about 5 mins but gave up completely!!! and i missed ab's just kept the waist as i think 1 ab measurement is way too much for me never mind 3!!

I am hormonal, and emotionally exhausted. I feel bad for my poor husband who has to put up with me right now! He has hurt my feelings, but I know (and have told him) that it is not his fault...it's just my emotional state right now.

Long story short, I have PCOS and only have a period once every 3-4 months...and they last 17-21 days...and it started sunday morning. I guess since I have 3-4 months of pms'ing to do, instead of 28 days worth, it affects me harder. I usually cry the first 5-7 days over ANYTHING!

That's where I am now. I bawled yesterday because they called to tell me my new wedding ring would be two days later than originally promised. I cried today over my husband sarcastically saying "thanks, mom." when I reminded him of something. I am sure I am driving him crazy, but he is patient and kind and just holds me, lets me cry, and apologizes for not being more sensative.

I really have an amazing man. I am lucky. Now, if I can make it through the rest of the day without crying, I would really appreciate it!!!!!

Thanks for explaining where all the measurments should come from. Its really helpful.

I hope you feel better for the rest of the day. I can not imagine pmsing for 4 months all at once. You're very lucky to have such a wonderful husband who truly understands and comforts you.

I am about to get on the dear old elliptical and work out my sins...I ate half a pork tenderloin sandwich with mushrooms....so, so bad for me...and so, so, soooooo good! At least I only ate half...right? Unfortunately, tomorrow is weigh in day, so I've got to work it off!

I have not cried in 2 days, so hey, life's good! Now I just have about 2 weeks left of the period from hell and life will be great!

I got my new wedding ring...GORGEOUS!!! I love sapphires.

And my (2nd) new couch is paid for and due to be delivered on Tuesday...God willing it will fit into the apartment without any trouble and I will be a very happy girl.

Alrighty then, it's elliptical time!

that would be a happy moment.. when I moved into my current place - my sofa, which was so comfy and cozy, moved all the way to chicago with me, only he movers couldn't get it in the elevator or up the stairs - so my beloved couch - ended up getting tossed... :(

and I still haven't found one I like that will fit in the building... :D bean bags aren't a great alternative...

Sapphire are my favorite stone - what a lovely choice for awedding ring...

That's a lot like what happened to us!! We had a couch, and when we moved, it would not fit through the hall into our apartment. It was too long to turn, the ceilings were too low to let us stand it up, etc. So...no couch. We have only had a loveseat for years!! I really want a couch...the first one I loved was too long (again) to be able to get in. So...try two. I am not in love with this couch, but I definately like it and it is cute and comfortable. I just really, really, really want it to fit!

And sapphires are my favorites, too! They were historically used in engagement rings because they symobolize loyalty.

OK, I did 45 minutes on the elliptical. it probably wasn't enough to burn off all the calories I had for dinner, but at least I worked out. It helped me get all my water for the day in, too, since I went through 2 bottles while working out.

Weigh in at 10 am tomorrow! Wish me luck!!!

Turns out I did not need the luck, as my weigh in appointment has been pushed back to Monday at 10 am, due to driving schedule conflicts (we only have one car). My husband had to stay at work longer than expected and didn't get back in time for me to go.

I am disappointed, because it is measurement week...and I am excited to see how I did. But I am also relieved, because I have 48 extra hours to get Friday's dinner off!

I find the more I eat healthy, the more my body reacts badly to unhealthy foods. The pork tenderloin and mushrooms from last night made my stomach upset all morning today. Too much grease. My stomach HATES grease these days! And, though it was good tasting, the numbers on the scale this morning (up 1.5 lbs from the day before!) were NOT worth it...and fruit would have tasted just as good.

I have been so lazy today! It was nice to not have 10,000 errands to run for once. I took it easy. It finally felt like summer!

After you've been really busy Lazy days are the best things that can happen:jump: They can be refreshing for the next week to come.

Have a good sunday

So I am happy overall! My only gain in inches was ankle and I am positive between the salt I ate over the weekend and my period, that is just water retention. Another good month for inches lost!

My couch came AND it fit into the apartment with NO problem! I am SOOOO excited.

I did well eating today. Also did yoga for the first time in 8 months or so...it kicked my tail. But it felt good.

My next big challenge....Harry Potter party night. Book is released Friday at midnight (or Saturday, depending on your view). I have a standing date with a friend on every release night. We go to Barnes and Noble, enjoy the party there, get our books, go back to her house and read all night until we are done.

Problem: Party always includes brownies, ice cream, etc.

I have offered to fix up a fruit and veggie tray. But....will I be strong enough to resist her amazing cream cheese mint brownies? I am not so sure.

I am NOT skipping the party. So...I need a solution to the food....

The fruit and veggie tray are a really good idea. It will give you something to munch on. Avoiding the sweets may be a lot of will power.
Maybe you can bring some healthier alternatives to satisfy your sweet tooth... like sugar free ice cream or cake.

Yeah...will power.......I hate those words. But that's the key to it all, isn't it?

I also had a turtle latte tonight. It had skim milk, but I am sure the syrups weren't good. it also had caffeine, which I try to avoid as a general rule. It was frozen, so part of the 12 ounces was ice. Anyone know how much damage that did to my diet? Hopefully not too much...

I ate well today other than the latte. And I drank a lot of water.

I rearranged to accomodate the new couch and the elliptical machine. I am pleased with the results. Hopefully my husband will be, too!
